Back in 2002-2003, there was a very rare lightsaber made, called Jedi Lightsaber that was orange and yellow. George Lucas had intended to include the yellow lightsaber as third color of Jedi, along with Blue and Green. But in end he opted out of this idea, which made the lightsaber toy by Hasbro a collector's item. For those familiar with the Expanded Universe or Legends, the yellow lightsaber is the weapon of a Jedi Sentinel, first discovered in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003). The most famous Jedi Sentinel was Bastila Shan, a primary character of KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic) story arch. Later in "The Jedi Path" by Daniel Wallace, it was divulged that Jedi Sentinels who wield yellow lightsabers often become infiltrators, joining the Sith and destroying the Dark Side from within, making them perhaps more powerful than Jedi Counselors (Yoda) and even Jedi Guardians (Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi) because they must resist the Dark Side while pretending to be part of it so that they may assassinate high ranking Sith Lords.

According to the KOTOR universe, Jedi Sentinel, which wields the yellow lightsaber, is jack of all trades type Jedi. Jedi Guardians focus on Lightsaber techniques, and Jedi Counselors on Force Powers, but Jedi Sentinels balance mastering both lightsaber skills and Force powers, making them a ideal class if you want to be well rounded. The yellow lightsaber have become canon thanks to Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008-2015), with Jedi Temple Guards wielding staff lightsabers that are yellow and saying "cease hostilities!".

For those who can remember, long before the Prequels (Episodes I-III) and The Force Awakens, there was a series of Comics by Dark Horse Comics called "Tales of Jedi." These comics told the stories of Jedi in the time period we know called "Knights of the Old Republic" and it featured powerful Jedi turned Sith like Exar-Kun and Ulic Qel Droma. Ulic Qel Droma actually wielded a yellow lightsaber, and has a redemption story where after turning to Dark Side and slaying his own brother (in time of Je'dai, family members could be Jedi together), Ulic has change of disposition and ends up destroying the Dark Lord of Sith Exar Kun, perhaps this was his plan all along, and killing his brother was the only way to convince the Sith he was believer in Bogan (Dark Side). This fits into the extreme branch of Jedi Sentinel which aforementioned, will infiltrate the Sith ranks and assassinate high ranking Sith Lords. Not an easy path for a Light Sider. Ulic Qel Droma does come back to Light and spends his life in a penitential state, living as an outcast.

The yellow lightsaber has a history, and I thought those wanting to purchase it should know the history so they can understand this was not just some random choice by Hasbro to make another color lightsaber. But it is a boon to the fans of the Legends/EU and to anyone who liked those Jedi Temple Guards in the Clone Wars Series.
