Regardless, it's been a long time since we talked and I met up with a few people there so I guess if I had another picture of her, it was lost over the years. I'm really sorry to hear that this happened to her.

So, there's a massive gap in this story, and I don't want to read too much into it, but... it doesn't cover Josh's first marriage at all. Combined with the information that the State Department under President Obama explicitly told the Bergdahl negotiating team not to make the deal that got everyone home.

I realize the article is written primarily about Caitlan but... man... that's a weird gap.

 

I assume it's intentional to make them seem as sympathetic as possible.

 

Yes this feels like a piece designed to shame the government into action through public sympathy. They're presented as idealistic adventures, which feels like a polite way of saying "a bit foolish and naïve".

 

I think the SpecOps guy they interviewed covered that.

 

Yes but the harshness of the tone and the minimal space dedicated to that vs the space dedicated to always seeing the good in humanity makes it look like a 'characteristically' hard military assessment.

 

Have any of the reports mentioned where they believe they are being held? Hopefully no where near this
