    Lute: don't start! ;) :D

This thread is not designed to talk about what books you're reading - unless it's in some form of rant, positive or negative - but merely a means of expressing your views on how crazy things have gotten lately. Doesn't it anger you a bit? I'm scared myself!

Well, it looks like this place has been rantless for a while now, and we all know how us Vics love to rant so this is going back to where it belongs: [cue old-school batman music] to the first page!

Well, I have a rant! I ask you this Victoria, why do people get upset... no, pi$$ed off at you when you kindly reject people that come to your door, selling and asking YOU to give them your hard earned money.

Just the other day, I was at home, doing my homework when this big toothed guy comes to my door, asking for me to give him money for the disabled riders donation. Truely, I had no money on me and I kindly said 'sorry'. Well, this man, looks me over disquistingly, and slams MY door in MY face and storms out. Now, I'm not saying not to donate, just last week I put in $2 for the children of Tonga (it was for the children) to this kind man walking along the streets. But someone asking people for money without giving anything in return have to come with the terms that people SAY NO! It's even alright when they come and give you a 5 minitue long speach, yes, it is boring but at least they're putting in some effort.

Today, I also had another experience which made me post this here. This time, I was walking down my street, happily minding my own business when from the side of the road, this man literally yells at me telling me to buy tickets to support the Kangaroos... I don't even barrack for them! I once again kindly say no, the guy 'Pfffts' me off and goes yelling at the next person. Pffft yourself, you bum!

OK, well that's my rant, and next time be careful who you give your money to... they just might turn out to be jerks!

    Damir, that rant was fantastic.

In fact, it has me - well, to be overtly frank - inspired.

I'd like to rant about laziness.

It's the forgotten scourge! Due to it, I've done nothing on the now 5 long list of "things to do before Saturday".

I've spent all day sitting down, watching TV, eating toast or drinking coffee in copious amounts, then had a stage at web design: all devilish manifestations of BLOODY procrastination - and isn't that word absolutely BUTCHERED by the youth these days - that have diverted me from my REAL task, of GETTING SOME BLOODY WORK DONE!

I've resorted to writing emails instead of letters because 'm so damn lazy. I've not finished my University Timetable because Allocate kriffing Plus is too damn complicated and to be frank, left me stumped with all it's codes and numbers.

I've not cleaned out my room nor packed for moving tommorrow. Bloody Hell! When do I expect to do it? The bloody-last-minute possible? Crickey, it's a laugh!

To be utterly beligerant, I'm going to TOP it OFF! I've even failed to actually get up and get myself lunch, or dinner. Bloody Hell, I'm surviving on Coffee!

And to be frank, that's the proverbial goat-grabbing "Blimey. That Really Evil." for ya!

    Argh, disgusting. What's your gripe?

The front page of the Herald Sun, "Victoria's biggest-selling newspaper" today made me laugh, but made me angry as well. That a leading newspaper during a time of global crises would print something as droll as "Cathy tells Sandy it's over" as its cover story really is quite sad. I mean, WHO CARES? The Age were not much better in devoting the good part of their frontpage to Warney and his ******** hairstyle: they did, however, only devote a very small portion of the frontpage to the Cathy Freeman debacle. While I'm not a fan of the Warne coverage, The Age was perhaps more correct in its actions.

The Herald Sun, on the other hand, over played their hand and what it says is that they expect their readers to be far more interested in this than, say, the tragic nightclub incident in New York or the latest updates on the Iraq-crises. Is this the case? The Sun is "Victoria's biggest-selling newspaper:" but Victorians don't give that much of a toss about poor Cathy Freeman and her marriage woes. This sort of focus is unfair to Freeman and her ex-husband as well. Leave them alone I say. Let a vain magazine like "Woman's Day" deal with the saga accordingly. At least it'll give those readers a break from the English Royals' trials and jubiliations.

    Time for another rant:

This next rant of mine is one I've come to realization long ago, yet only now does it begin to affect me. My rant is of those damn violent protestors... yes those!

Now, as many might know, I'm not an anti-protestor's person... infact I encourage it. But what does get me pissed off is those people that get violent. If they want to vandalise and get themselves arrested, fine by me... but do NOT give protestors a bad reputation and do NOT encourage others to follow your pathetic footsteps.

What they don't realise is how hypocritical they are. Here they are, protesting for peace and no violence, and what are they doing? They're frickin breaking bottles, windows and injuring our fellow men and women in uniform. This is the kind of thing that the meida feeds off! Do you think that the media will pick the peaceful protest over the violent ones to show as their news? Hell no. By doing the exact opposite of they're protesting for, they give a bad reputation for all protestors and render the whole point of protesting useless.

By peacefully protesting, you're making a statement that you can rise above the violence and destruction on this Earth to unite and show that war is not the answer. By sturring violence, you're not better the mere people you're protesting against.

Yes go the way of Gandhi, non-violent protest! It is clever and effective. Also these hire a protest crowds should get employment else where. They really annoy me. Protest yes...if you really believe, but also contribute economically to society beyond that of collecting the dole and buying rollies.

Right. I think it's about bloody time I contributed to this great establishment - and on the 1,000th post too I might add, which may be chicken feed for some, but is a fine effort from a grade A slack-ass poster like myself.

I want to rant about the hypocrisy of getting employed. Employed to make a difference. Employed because you have a different angle to contribute. Employed to contribute to an organisation by being innovative - or so you think. They tell you they want someone who can think outside the square, who can breathe new life into existing structures and projects and staff. And then you sign up and what's the first thing that happens? They inundate you with documents, policies, procedures, protocols and proceed to inform you that, yes, you've been employed to be innovative, but that 'this is the way it works around here. this is what we have to adhere to.' Now what's the bloody point in that? And they wonder why so many new people come into an organisation all bright-eyed and busy-tailed and then lose momentum after a year or two when all they're doing is wearing them down slowly, stifling their enthusiasm and creativity, destroying their ambitions - and simply adding to the legacy issue of the disgruntled, cynical masses they are trying to mend - employees who remain only because they are resigned to the fact that ultimately they still believe in what they are fighting for and that creating change from the inside is the only way they can fight at all.

I'm telling you Victoria this is happening everywhere! It's an epidemic and it's self-perpetuating! The downward spiral. The death of creativity and enthusiasm. I am close to selling my soul for want of simple, materialistic monetary gratification - because I've seen those employees. Seen them at 20. Seen them at 30. Seen them at 50. Nothing changes. I no longer believe. I no longer believe in the system. I no longer believe in my industry. I no longer believe that I can make a difference. And that pisses me off.
