Would you prefer puppets or CGI in Gremlins 3? I think the franchise could use a little more lens flair...

I think the story will be bad and whomever directs it will suck because we have no evidence to convince us otherwise :p

No but one lead to the other. So between ANH and ESB there was the fundamental change in which and Anakin mergednto one. It actually works less well because the original Vader and the reformatted character are quite rent characters both personality wise and visually and vocally. What saves it is simply that due to Vader beng so minor in the first place that the overwriting of that from the other 5 films overwhelms the scant character in the 1 film he isn't Anakin Skywalker. Then add in all the other factors including music and implied backstory that was never fleshed out then the rewritten version can be made into the actual story.

Well their stories were minor in comparison. They never were going to be the centre. That was Luke with Vader added and then the Emperor.

I don't think they feel like observers. I think they are the ones putting things in motion but it does set up other events as it should.

Changes happen in between each film anyway. This isn't a series of movies that happen in continuous storylines. We jump in see events then jumpt forward sometimes years. I-II 10, II-III 3, III-IV 19, IV-V 3, V-VI 1, VI-VII 30.

Even if Anakin wasn't 9 in TPM the oldest he would have been was 12. That was the upper limit.

I kinda hope they go with different directors for each film. New voices can open up the established world of a series, like Kershner with ESB or Cuaron with Prisoner of Azkaban.

Here is the pic to the spin off announcement:

So, as another thread already noticed, he wears Flanell...

But what is way more interesting, is the TIE-Fighter-like cockpit in the background;)

You beat me to it. I was going to say JJ gets another brownie point in my book for wearing flannel. I hope he's channeling his inner Lucas.

So is that a piece of a TIE sucessor ( I know TIE windshields are more edgy) or a piece of the Falcon windshield (weird perspective, but the missing glass in the lower part could be an indicator).

As an outsider, the responses to Osbourne's SW tweets are kind of hilarious.

I saw it and assumed 'Falcon'... could be a Tie though. Some forensic person here will be able to deduce I'm sure. Also noticed what looks like green screen. ;)

From the flannel shirt, to the use of green screen it is clear he is actually turning into GL. The beard will be next [face_worried]

Again people mentioned a "backlash" against ST:ID and used that as an argument against JJ.
I pointed out that a similar "backlash" could be seen with AotC as well.

As for "fan service" if we give Lucas the benefit of a doubt, shouldn't we give JJ the same?

    [/QUOTE]

I think you misunderstand, I am talking about the weekly drops, not the drop in overall gross. AotC third weekend dropped harder than both TPM and RotS and it had the highest week to week drops of all PT films.
And AotC made 300 M$ less than Titanic, your point being?
Star Trek has never really been near the BO numbers of Star Wars. The 2009 film is about 50 M$ away from AotC. But that is unadjusted. If we do that, the distance is a bit bigger.
My point was imply that if you take the drop from Star Trek 2009 to ST:ID (Domestic) and use that as a weapon to bash JJ with, then why should you ignore the much larger drop in Lucas own film series?
Lastly, JJ's first Trek film increased the BO-gross over the previous ST-film by something like 400%
If he were to do that with EP VII then it's gross would be something like 2 billion $ just in domestic gross. That would be very impressive.
(Note, I don't think this is likely to happen.)

    Bye for now.
