If you want to do well at FFA you should be prepared to use all the weapons at your disposal. That includes guns, your saber, and the Force. Don't expect to win if you're too stubborn to use any guns. Personally, I probably get more FFA kills with the saber than anything else, followed closely by Force Push, the repeater, the rocket launcher, and the flechette gun. I use guns a lot, but also have my saber offense and defense maxed out. I don't think they need to make any changes to the balance of the game.

Did you guys read today's rant at Penny Arcade? I can't wait to get into the multiplayer swing of things when the DSL returns to my house. Just have to finish that review.

I just got my ass handed to me in a couple of CTF games. I'm so bad at it. I can definetly imagine a group of us playing until 4am in a duel.

Guns are quite effective against Jedi. Just look at that picture at the top of this forum with those poor newb Jedi standing in a circle.

Guns don't require skill? That sounds like the talk of a person who is irked at someone not playing the game in a "polite, respectful" way. Sorry to dissappoint, but there is no "cheap" kill in these kinds of games. Camping, sniping, thermal detonating lightsaber fights, they're all legit tactics. There is no score for "honor," only kills. Now cheating/hacking, that's another matter entirely.

I've played online games since, well, they first went online. I've acquired a decent skill over the years. To say that guns (or Quake and UT for that matter) require no skill, well that's like saying all the Star Wars movies have no depth and are just b-movies. It's an ignorant statement.

I don't camp. I don't snipe. But I've learned how to deal with those players (and it's extremely easy to always have the upper hand with them, as you always know where they are). I used to beeyotch and moan about those kinds of players too, until one day I realized that they weren't doing anything wrong or against the rules. It was naieve of me to believe that everyone would play the game how *I* wanted them to play.

Just imagine some people getting upset with you using force powers in a straight fight, when they are available to you. Just because they choose not to use them, they expect everyone else not to. "Hey! You used force grip on me! No fair!"

I don't play JO multiplayer. Hell, it personally doesn't appeal to me. So I'm not part of either the gunner or saberist camp. If you don't like guns, then don't play with them. If they're in the server you are on, count on them being used. Kills count, and he who uses whatever means necessary will get the frags.

"I just got my butt handed to me in a couple of CTF games. I'm so bad at it."

Hey Bib, what do you usually do in CTF games? Run after the flag or defend yours? Cuz my brother used to try to go after the other flag but would always get pounded, so now he sticks back and guards the flag. He racks up kills that way and gets points for returning the flag. :)

For me, it's the opposite, I stink when trying to defend.

Well, I guess you told me. [face_plain]

I don't care what you say. Using the Golan/repeater requires no skill at all. They are lame weapons that are just a easy way to get a high score. It might be fun for the person using them as he watches his score go up, but for everyone else it's just irritating.

This arguement is pointless anyway as we're not going to convince each other to change our minds. As long as there are saber-only FFA servers, I'll be happy. Let the lamers continue to be lame if they must.
