EDIT^2: And I said "directed" instead of "directing". Double-fail. EDIT^3: Okay, I figured out how to change it. lol. had to use the "more options". Still getting used to this software.
I suspected him from the moment of the announcement. He certainly has the LFL & ILM resume and a pre-existing working relationship with Disney.
It would be great, my #2 choice after Andrew Stanton, buuuut, it wounds like he knows as much as we do about VII.
First reaction: [Jango voice] "Nevah heard o' him." Second reaction: Captain America. Ah. Well. That's ok, I guess.
Joe would be amazing. We don't know if he's been contacted or not. Even if he has, he's experienced enough not to say anything until they're ready to make an announcement. I have no doubt that at some point he will direct a SW movie, although it may end up being a Boba Fett movie further down the line.
Not to mention that he was heavily invovled in the visuall effects and art design for the original trilogy. I venture to guess that he's VERY familiar with the Star Wars universe and that it would be in good hands.....
Yeah, if there was a stand-alone Boba Fett movie, he would be the obvious choice to direct that. A. He designed Boba Fett's armor. B. He directed The Rocketeer and Boba Fett has a rocket pack too.
I love not only Captain America but also the Rocketeer. He not only knows how to work with a lot of special effects, he is also gifted at getting the best performances out of his actors. October Sky, as a great example.
He's also, and this is not a criticism, a very solid shooter. Unlike someone like Abrams, Spielberg or Del Toro for example, I'm not sure I'd say he has his own distinctive style. He would shoot it straight and make sure it fits into SW, which at this stage is practically its own genre.
Well despite my lack of instant recognition at the name, I do say he'd be a good choice. Captain America didn't really impress me, but I'm willing to say that he has potential to do quite nice stuff. I'll just hold my enthusiasm on this one, for now.
It's hard to cast a director when you don't know what the story is. My gut tells me it's going to be very "ANH". But that could be way off.
It's very likely, given that TPM was practically a clone of ANH and Arndt uses ANH to teach his class. That said, I wouldn't want another control station/ super weapon rehash
No, no, no, that sucker is electrical. But it needs a nuclear reaction to generate 1.21 gigawatts- WHOOPS! Sorry, couldn't resist....
Johnston seems like a great fit, and I am surprised he hasn't been popping up on all of these rumor lists.
