Is it for real this time? Or will it be quickly retracted like yesterday?

maybe his butthole sealed itself and he died of poo-backup complications. sort of like in tetris when you make a bad mistake and the blocks start stacking up faster and faster and then it's game over.

I've seen it on Fox News as well. They said it was lung cancer.

At the very least, if the grand jury report is anything to go by, he kicked it up to his superiors without going to the police and they covered it up.

No. This is the guy who heard about child rapes and went and told the administration like he was supposed to so they could start an investigation into the matter.

On November 7, Pennsylvania state police Commissioner Frank Noonan said that while Paterno was not in any legal difficulty, "somebody has to question about what I would consider the moral requirements for a human being that knows of sexual things that are taking place with a child. I think you have the moral responsibility, anyone. Not whether you're a football coach or a university president or the guy sweeping the building. I think you have a moral responsibility to call us."

So he did not cover it up, but he did not pursue the matter either. His story is one of burying his head in the sand while atrocities occur. The entire story is just bad all around and a tragedy on all sides. I would side with those that claim he did not do enough.

This is a situation on the part of Paterno where the law does not equate to morality.

Pursue the matter? He didn't witness anything. It was hear say. What you do in that situation is alert the administration and let them conduct an investigation. An investigation that they can conduct far more thoroughly than one guy can...

After you report it you ask those you reported to every day. You bug them. If they do not provide answers literally within days you go to te police and let them investigate. He simply fell short one very important step.

He got cancer and died from it. If that is not enough karmatic punishment for everyone then I don't know what is. As I said it is a tragedy from every angle.

8 or 85 cancer is bad. The age is not so much the point. It is easy to sit back in judgement. I could say "put yourself in his shoes" and you might say "OMG! I would be all over th police!" I am not in on every detail. But just on what is presented he should have gone to the police and this should have been a story long before.

He did enough legally, he did not do enough morally. He is not evil.

Go to the police because someone told you they saw something? Really? Don't you think ANY normal person would look at that guy and say, "You saw it happen? Call the cops."

The dude who saw it is the ****. Joe Paterno had to react off a rumor. Let's all call the cops whenever we hear rumors. Because that makes sense.
