John Powell - composer for Han Solo (w/ theme by John Williams)

Enjoyed this score very much, more so than MG's work in Rogue One.

I'd still like to see what Gordy Haab could do with a feature film, though.

 

The score for Solo didn't really leave that much of an impression on me. Then again, I was focusing so much on what was going on I could've missed things. But to me it wasn't like Rogue One-that score stood out to me in a great way from the first viewing.

 

I do agree the Rogue One score was more memorable. I thought both were good though.

 

The Marauders' theme music sounds like Avatar to me...

 

I hate source music.

 

I loved Han and Qi'ra's theme.
Especially it's use in the track Lando's closet. There's something pensive and tragic to it. Beautifully composed and arranged in my opinion.

 

I agree. I was pretty underwhelmed hearing it in the movie but listening to it afterwards has made me really love it. I think it's better than Williams' sequel scores, easy.

 

Crossed with Xena:Warrior Princess.

But damn, once Maul's brief momentary theme comes on, it just outclasses any of the music in the movie. But there is a nice little parallel between Nest's theme and Maul's.

I really loved the score to this one. It was instantly memorable and had some great themes attached to it.

Overall, I felt like it was stronger than Rogue One.

 

What did he use for Maul? I didn't catch it either viewing...

 

Duel of Fates and there was another new theme intertwined that sounded pretty close to the Final Duel theme of ROTJ, seemed they went for Emperor-like effect.

 

Oh nice!!! I was hoping to myself that they did something like that. Is it on the soundtrack?

 

I feel like the exact opposite haha.

Rogue One was instantly memorable to me, Solo not so much.

Subjective, of course.

 

The Kessell Run sequence manages to both use the DS escape music and the asteroid chase music which are pretty cool to hear again

 

Why oh why do we not hear the deep voiced version of Chicken in the Pot on the soundtrack ??

That's the one i really wanted to hear ! What the world needs to hear !

 

That's not in the OST. Bummer.

 

This is a disaster !!

Only hope that somebody mixes it back from the blu ray release one day.

 

Yeah. I'm sure it will be on youtube once the DVD and Blu Ray releases are out.

 

I'm listening to the Solo OST in isolation for the first time and it's blowing me away. Adventures of Han is gloriously Williams and Powell seems to have done an amazing job!

 

Adventures of Han is the best song by far, IMO.

 

It's sort of unfair to single out the concert arrangement like that. It's also the only track composed by Williams. What about the best track from the actual score?
