Yeah, I really didn't have a favorite leaguer until the end of season two, then fell in love with Shayera. Unfortunately after that she wasn't in many more episodes for the rest of the series, but those that she was in were usually some of the best. And the comparison between Mara and Shayera never really occurred to me 8-} , the most obvious being they're both redheads. But yeah, they are alike in many ways.

I actually prefer just the straight blade of the lightsaber (which is usually how they look in the movies). Don't know why I put the little extra shine above the hilt. I guess it just felt right for those pics.

And I finally got myself a deviantart account (was actually easier than getting an imageshak one, hehehehe. So now I'll be able to post all my non-SW art as well.

Hawkgirl looks great as a Jedi--it "fits" her very well, I think! **nodding** :D I sure love the poses you use for these--so fluid and natural! Great, great work!

Thanks. I figured why would Hawkgirl's attitude (if you've seen the show you know what I'm talking about) change whether she's swinging her mace or weilding a lightsaber. Also I hope the fact that I gave her a red lightsaber wasn't lost on you, hehehehehe. She just strikes me as a Jedi who would go red.

Oh, and I'm finally finished procrastinating and finished my picture.

I was able to do a couple of pics over the weekend. The first is my Revan from Knights of the Old Republic. I decided to be more free with her look rather than try to make her look like one of the in-game models (besides Revan doesn't have really good hair in the game anyway :p ) But I did try to keep the attire accurate. And this is what she's wearing in my current game, Anakin style, black with blue lightsaber (I usually go with a green or purple but ROTS made blue sabers cool again, heheheh).

    http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/57855003/?qo=3&q=by%3Ajosephb222&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps

And this just the first in what's going to be a collage of all the Jedi members of the party. Revan, Bastila, Juhani, and Jolee. Hehehehe, lucky dog Jolee :D

And this was something I did just for fun.

    http://ic1.deviantart.com/fs17/f/2007/169/8/c/Revan___lightsabers_by_JosephB222.gif

And here's my very first pic of Jaina Solo. This was actually supposed to be my Revan pic, but once I drew her hair it just seemed like it would make a better Jaina pic. And I'd say this pic is set right after Jaina accepts her role as the Sword of the Jedi.

And here it is again. Just added a little flicker to her lightsaber.

Great update, JosephB! I like both of these a lot (and will definitely be looking forward to that collage you're planning), but I'm really liking the one of Jaina: she's a character that's suffered a lot from misuse and abuse by the profic authors, and has gotten a pretty bad shake in a lot of the story arcs (in case you couldn't tell, I like her! ;) ). I like your view of her--strong, determined and beautiful like her mother--an excellent portrayal! Great work on both of these!

I don't know if you check out the Literature forum, but there's a thead over there about "Sexist overtones in the EU". It got really long (it's seems to be slowing down now) and it's about how there is a pattern becoming apparent of how the female characters are being ignored or misused by most of the authors. A lot of interesting viewpoints. Of course there are a few who don't see anything wrong with the lack of heroines in the SW universe.

I'm sure Jaina would become a favorite character. Just need to read more good books with her in them. Any suggestions ;) ?

Just another quick update. I keep forgetting to scan in my pencil sketches before I ink them, but luckily this time I remember in time.

    padawan sketches:

    http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/57931293/

    http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/57931393/

Inks and a preview of what the final pic is gonna look like.

    http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/57931204/

The idea is that these two padawans find themselves alone and surrounded by a bunch of evil looking silhouette (cause I too lazy to draw them all :p ) carrying red lightsabers.

Okay, here's un update on that KOTOR collage I said was gonna do. Just lineart sketches right now.

Bastila: I really like how this pose turned out. And I know, she's not in her regular outfit, but then again in order to raise her stats (and keep from dying too often) in the game you need to put her in a better Jedi robe, so this is how she usually looks for most of the game.

    http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/58155745/

Jolee: my very first pic of Jolee. Since his regular attire is a Jedi robe, keeping him in it was a no brainer.

    http://fc04.deviantart.com/fs16/f/2007/173/0/d/Jolee___sketch_KOTOR_by_JosephB222.jpg

Juhani: I might actually do this one over. Not really too crazy about her pose. Just seems a little off to me.

I'm sure there are a few people out there familiar with the manga/anime series Inuyasha. I just recently started watching the show from the beginning (already seen all 4 movies though) and Sango has become my favorite character. I just love her storyline the best. Not to mention that it's a perfect set up for a fall to the dark side. Plus her outfit is already Sith-to-wear, especially with her mask on. Just picture her using that double-bladed saber like her hiraikotsu, and I did give her a cape for added effect, ;)

As usual, your figure work makes me jealous, Joseph! ;) :D Love Bastilla--that's a great portrait of her! And I like both the other characters as well (don't really see anything wrong with Juhani...it looks great to me!); Darth Sango, with and without mask, looks wonderful--very Sithly, especially that costuming! Wonderful work, as always!

I hope not to keep you waiting too long. I would like to have the whole KOTOR group pic done by the end of the weekend. Coloring is the slowest thing for me.

Thanks for your kind comments as always. And I still have plenty of jealousy for the way you're able to sketch the actors [face_peace]

I wish I could take credit for Sango's costume. But the only thing I changed, well added, was the cape. This is exactly how she looks on the show. Just replaced her regular weapons for lightsabers. Like I said, Sango comes dressed (and especially if you knew her story) like a Sith waiting to happen.

Just a quick little update. But this was an idea that's been stuck in my head all week. I just had to get it done and over with so I could move onto other things. Though this would have been really cool had it really happened  Hope you like it.

Whoa...awesome!! =D==D= Beautiful work, Joseph! Love their expressions, and I could see this as a possibility, too--Jaya went dark for a while there, after all...she could fall again (especially if her Sithly twin decided that's what he wanted...). Perfect with the pose, and the coloring is awesome! =D=

    Thanks. I'm glad you like.

Thanks. This scenario would definitely be cool. But I still say . . .

Jaina should be the one to take down Jacen or at least face him in the climax (in case they want to make Jacen the main villain in the next series). Maybe she could even give him the "Obi-Wan" dicing a la Anakin and Jacen would really have to don a Vader-esque outfit, heheheheheh.

Well, I can dream. And write fanfics about it :D

I just took a very quick glance through your new stuff. I'll be back for more, but I just wanted to quickly point out that I think Juhani's right thigh looks like it's got a funny bulge on it. I'll be back this evening to look at everything more closely.

And great job on adding that flicker to Mara's saber! It looks great. I'm also always happy to spread the gospel of Twi'lek beauty. :) Thanks.

    Your Bastila is excellent! =D=

And I love Jaina, too! I'm a huge fan of her's, at least in the NJO. :p
I fully agree with you, she should be the one to face Jacen.

Bastila looks awesome, Joseph! =D= The coloring is beautiful, and that pose is so Jedi! **nod** That double-bladed lightsaber is wonderful, too--it's cool to see a Jedi wielding such a weapon, and not a Sith! ;) The costuming is superb, and her expression is positively fierce! Great, great work!

Thanks. Some seem to forget that Bastila kicks a whole lot of @$$ in the game. Especially if you choose the dark path at the end of the game.

Yeah, I just started reading NJO myself (finished Star By Star, Dark Journey, and Enemy Lines I and II) and Jaina is certainly getting alot of cool things to do. Though I think that has more to do with her brothers being dead and/or missing. And it looks like Jacen is coming back in Destiny's Way (I'm skipping Traitor, mostly because Jacen's a schmuck right now and it'll be hard to read a "good" Jacen without thinking . . . . . "You're a schmuck!" :D )

Hehehehe, there is more than one reason why Bastila is so cool. The double-bladed saber is one of them. Though it can be difficult coming up with new poses for . . . . . [just realized this is actually the first time I've ever drawn a double saber] Well, I just started working on another Bastila pic and it took a bit of work coming up with a new pose. Still, it's easier drawing someone just holding a regular saber, or even two.

I'm glad you all like it. As I've said I'm particularly proud of this pic.

I finally got back to my Padawans pic. Just finished coloring the girl so far.

This is a pic of a Sith Lady that I DID NOT draw. But the artist was kind enough to allow me to ink and color it. I really wanted to see how my colors would look on someone else's artwork.

Most cool, Joseph! =D= It's always a treat to drop in and check out your wonderful work!

I adore the Leia piece--the pose, the movement and energy, and especially the 'tude she's brandishing, along with all the weapons! Much more like the Leia we know and love (no "damsel in distress" for her! ;) )! Great work on that one (and it's fun to see, between this piece and the more recent ones, how your style/technique has matured, too!)! I love the coloring of the Padawan, too (can't wait to see the final version of that one--it sounds so great!)--Darth Sango is very appropriate (I don't know the character, but she seems to fit right into the Sith!), and the coloring of the original lineart is also beautifully done! That must be a real challenge: coloring someone else's work when you're used to coloring only your own... I know it would be tough in traditional techniques--so it must also be with digital... Great stuff--and a terrific update!
