Does anyone or is there more on the Journal of the Whills other than brief snippets found here and there? I have a small exerpt in Chronicles, but that's about it. I just wanted to find out more about Lucas' back history and writing as it pertains to Star Wars.

All there is is what is shown in the ANH novelization. If there is more, it's possible that Lucas wrote some ideas in his notebooks. The original idea for the films was to make them a story told by the Whills, a race of superbeings who watched over the universe. More info is in the Annotated Sreenplays book.

I don't know much about the Journal. There seems to be a big mystery surrounding it. Is is just GL's notes? Or is it some 'legendary' complete Episode 1-9 epic?

    Supposedly it's only GL's notes.

Like Sturm said, Star wars was susposed to be told by a "watcher" type character from the JotW, but GL droped that idea early on. Some fans claim that GL wrote and got a huge novel published - the whole SW story from episodes 1-9. If you ever find one of these fans, they are Bull****ting you. The JotW's doesn't exist in real life. I've heard that GL has a binder full of backstorys, character info and storyline notes that some people on the set nicknamed the Journal of the Whilles - but thats as far as it goes.

So it's basically a myth, and the name JotW was made up by fans?

I've heard that GL has a binder full of backstorys, character info and storyline notes

on TPM DVD on the first of the internet lucas gets out a folder of backstory's etc and says "here's all the backstory's its 15 pages in total"

So it's basically a myth, and the name JotW was made up by fans

No it was a book written in early drafts that tells the tale of the films but was changed and the force was added.
