The parallel novels illustrated by Ian McCaig now have subtitles - not sure if these are part of the Journey to the Force Awakens line or not.

Star Wars: A New Hope - The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy, by Alexandra Bracken
The galaxy is at war. Although the Rebel Alliance has won a few battles against the Empire, hope is fading. The Empire is about to finish building the greatest weapon the galaxy has ever seen-the Death Star. The rebels' only chance to defeat it now lies in the unlikely hands of a princess, a scoundrel, and a farm boy. . . .

Acclaimed, New York Times bestselling author Alexandra Bracken delivers a captivating retelling of Star Wars: A New Hope like you've never experienced before. Since the premier of the original film, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker have become iconic, larger-than-life characters. The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy takes a deeper look at these three heroes as they join forces to defeat the evil that threatens their entire galaxy.

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back - So You Want To Be A Jedi?, by Adam Gidwitz
Acclaimed, New York Times best-selling author Adam Gidwitz delivers a captivating retelling of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back like you've never experienced before, infusing the iconic, classic tale of good versus evil with a unique perspective and narrative style that will speak directly to today's young readers while enhancing the Star Wars experience for core fans of the saga.

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi - How a Princess, a Scoundrel, a Hairy Giant, Two Droids, Lots of Cute Furry Things, and a Jedi Knight Saved the Galaxy!, by Tom Angleberger
Acclaimed, New York Times best-selling author Tom Angleberger delivers a captivating retelling of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi like you've never experienced before, infusing the iconic, classic tale of good versus evil with a unique perspective and narrative style that will speak directly to today's young readers while enhancing the Star Wars experience for core fans of the saga.

I never saw the Ryder Windham junior OT novels when they came out - only extracts from them. Might be nice to contrast them with these new novels when they come out, if anyone has those novels and wants to do the Compare & Contrast.

Gidwitz is just a great choice to retell Empire. He really gets fairy tales and their deep underlying weirdness and tension. Excited to see how he handles not just Luke/Vader but also Luke's training.

I don't even have to say it–you all heard the same song I did when you read the bolded part.

    Luke:
Please I want to be a Jedi,
Come on, will you train me?
I cannot do this by myself,
    I'm not too old,
Please train me and you'll see!
I thought you were a Master,
    You just seem old,
All I can do is try!
Please I want to be a Jedi,
And I'm not afraid of your tests.

    Okay, bye.

    Yoda:
So you want to be a Jedi?
Come on, let's go and train.
    You can't delay this anymore,
    Do or do not,
    It is the only way!
You say that you're not fearful,
    Maybe now you're not.
Don't worry, 'cause you will be!
So you want to be a Jedi?
You have to stay or you will die.

    Okay, bye.

    :p

I want to be the very best like no one ever was.
Using the force is my real test, to train is my real cause
I will travel across the stars searching far and wide
Teach myself to understand the power that's inside

Seriously, there's no way anybody is ever going to abbreviate that in full in a conversation after this. Ever.

I take it no news yet about a possible novelization of the movie?

Now hold on. TESB had on of the biggest twists in cinematic history. There was a false page inserted so Dave Prowse would not let the secret slip. However the novelization for that film was released in April before the month released. Any old person could have picked it up and saw the big reveal before the film hit theaters. Fine you can dismiss it. However we live in a world where tie-in materials are released early enough for fanatics to go spend money on and then they'll still see the main treat.

Books need to be send to print several months in advance of publication at the very least. Therefore, in order to have the novelization out even on the day of the film's release, it would have to be at the printers in, say, September or October; at which point leaks are inevitable.

So I'd be surprised if we see a novelization until early 2016.

Are all of the novels going to be hardback from now on?

Have been wondering this myself, I've bought New Dawn and Tarkin in hardback but have lately been thinking maybe I should just get them on Kindle as they're cheaper and take up no space, not as nice as the actual book though :(

Alternatively paperback which is how they always used to be but I don't really want to wait 6 months or more, particularly for Lords of the Sith. Also thinking they'll at some point release a paperback only title and my book series OCD will kick in with it next to loads of hardbacks...
