I don't see the appeal of this book, yet I didn't think Phasma would be good, and it rocked!!!

It would've been good with Catalyst and the whole theme of Krennic being unable to get a working superlaser

Given the calibre of the authors involved.... I don't see any way this won't be a great book.

That has to be the most original and memorable SW cover in a while.

Yeah, I too really like the cover.

The details on each of the stories sound great as well.

I'm not impressed. I don't want to read the 40 short stories of From A Certain Point of View, no interest in this novella collection, and the TLJ novelization I don't need to waste money on. Basically I'm stranded on a desert island until May. Also, I a have a bad feeling about this. I think Disney is going to put the kebash on Star Wars written stories to focus on the movies and tv shows. First, they take away the Insider short stories for no reason. I think the books are next :( If that's the case, I better check myself into a mental ward, because I will literally go crazy.

I'll observe that the cover design, in addition to having this cool layering thing (transitioning from external to internal) also gives us a neat look at the buildings at Canto Bight. They look very Senate mushroomy in style. No relation to the Senate I'm sure, but it's neat to see that style again.

If you haven't seen it yet, there was a really good high resolution shot of the city in last month's Entertainment Weekly coverage.

OK that explains why it looks so weird and "fake" to me. I still think it's cool but on second/third look everything looked awkward - though I figured it was purposeful, over the top like casinos and the flashy elite tend to be. Your noting of the layers helps me better understand what I'm seeing.

I'm hoping that this is kind of a mix of Scoundrels and Winner Lose All.

I'm quite looking forward to Canto Bight. I have fond memories of the old short story collections (Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina et al). I wouldn't have minded a similar collection pertaining to the guests at Maz's castle. I like the idea of having a background story to the interesting characters that we only catch a glimpse of in the films. Because these characters are often of no consequence to events in the storyline, it gives authors an opportunity to get creative.

Did you have a look at the Aliens short collection? It's YA/younger material, but the stories are fun and a couple are set in the castle.

Jedi Ben I didn't pick that up. To be honest, I glanced at the cover and thought it was a visual guide. I didn't realise it was a short story collection. I'll be sure to check that out. Thanks for the heads-up.
