as far as movies go I would recommend T3. It's not as good as the other 2 but still worth checking out.

I think that the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen would be cool. Granted, it will probably open at #5 with about 8 million, but today's movie going population just doesn't have the patience for a good "Victorian" -era adventure. They only like movies with high amounts of explosions, sex, special effects, and no plot.

 

I was going to post a "friendly neigborhood" T3 review...

I liked it. It stayed true to the story in my book, but yet expanded it nicely in a few areas. It had some nice homages to the first two films, some good one-liners and great effects.

I would be intersted in checking out LXG as a group. We should continue to discuss over in the "Movie Nights" thread and at the meeting.

 

Do not go see T3. It was terrible. Even T1 was better than T3.

I think that's enough said, unless you really want me to go into details.

 

I hate to miss two meetings in a row, especially since I'm the secretary, but I have to go to a taekwondo tournament in Lexington on Saturday. I should be back for the August meeting (knock on wood).

Because he's not good at picking up on hints, I'm volunteering Adam to take the minutes for me.

 

I'm not sure if I can make it or not. I've been working 7 day the last few weeks and way to many hours. If I can, I'll try to get out of the store.

Meeting notes for 7-12:

5 members were in attendance

Summer Conventions:
- GenCon in Indy is July 24-27. Pre Registration is closed. Badges must now be purchased on site. I was initially planning on going Saturday & Sunday, but due to family health problems, I will probably not be going. I'm hoping that Cole, Andrew or someone can pick me up a Silver Fett.
- Wizard World Chicago is still a ways out. August 8-10 I'm pretty sure, so more to come on this one.

Book Club update:
- June saw some good discussion on "Traitor."
- July's selection is "Destiny's Way." This will be 7-29-03 at B&N, 6:30 PM.

Collecting:
- Target is still the place for anyone attempting to find current collectible toys locally.

Movie Nights:
- We will see "LXG" as a group this coming Saturday 7-19-03 as a group. We will see a late matinee at approx. 3/4 PM.

Anything else?...

Hi. Today was my first day back to work after a two week vacation. It wasn't too terribly bad. Anyway, which theater are we meeting at? And which matinee?

Question though, do movies like "Finding Nemo", "Jaws" & "Little Mermaid" make the good Admiral a little nervous??

 

Actually, Ackbar had romantic attachment to the Little Mermaid in his "guppie" days.

Jaws is a distant cousin - the black sheep of the family.

As far as Nemo - well, Ackbar is actually his......... Father's brother's son's former roomate!

PS, I realize I am opening myself up to great amounts of ribbing - but I know a certain SW Fan that is also a member of the Official Mandy Moore Fan Club

Outstanding! I mean, what girl would not fall for the man (or fish) that saved the rebellion - the galaxy - everything. I mean, let's face it, if it hadn't been for Admiral Ackbar, all would have been lost. The man (or fish) is a legend! When they put out the next trilogy, it should be all about Ackbar.

As far as casting Ackbar's Trilogy, I seriously think Mandy Moore should play Winter.

This'll be an interesting book club

 

I hereby ban all talk of human/fish relations from Book Club. That's really not a topic we need to have someone overhear. I'm pretty sure that would at least get us banned from B&N, possibly arrested. After all if human/fish relations aren't illegal, they should be. I think it would probably be safer if we just made fun of Stackpole again.
