Yes, definitely take the cat to the pound. Puppies are much better; I'm not allergic to the things.

Allow me to educate you J_L. A sock is an article of clothing you wear on your feet to make it more comfortable to wear shoes. They also serve to keep your feet warm in colder climates. However, it is not recommended you get them wet as it breeds bacteria and fungus. As a Darklord of the Sith and a Stooge I am all to familiar with the latter.
