Does this mean we can call people monkeys now? or single cell organisms? lol

Glad to see one of my fellow monkeys agrees with me. [face_laugh]

A Vertebrate Paleontologist, so he should know what he's saying. His point is that dinosaurs and birds are almost exactly alike in anatomy, physiology, details in bone structure, breathing and so on. A Velociraptor and a Brachiosaurus have much less in common than a raptor and a bird.
He also compared saying "birds are dinosaurs" to "mammals are reptiles" and that the latter is false because mammals and reptiles have many anatomical and physiological differences (boobs).

And yes, some biologists call humans "the third chimpanzee".

Of course "mammals are reptiles" is false because of their differences. But that doesn't mean that "birds are dinosaurs" is accurate because they have more in common and one of them evolved from the other. What something IS now doesn't necessarily equal what it came from long ago; it seems to miss the point of evolution. The huge length of time renders the comparison moot.

Also, chimpanzees aren't monkeys. We didn't evolve from chimpanzees. We both evolved from a common ancestor.

Do you consider humans not a species of ape? Thats basically what youre saying. :p

But yeah. Birds=dinosaurs has been a science thing for quite awhile now.

I do consider humans a species of great ape; we are. All I'm saying there is that we didn't evolve from chimpanzees; we both evolved together from a common ancestor.

My main point was just that birds evolving from dinosaurs doesn't really mean that birds = dinosaurs.

Im sure there are amazing scripts sitting in desks across Hollywood.

Yet JP4 is green lit... we need this movie like we need another Friday the 13th..

I cannot not wait for IV. It's going to be so good. Hopefully they don't find out there's a third Island or whatever.

TLW is a guilty pleasure of mine. A well put-together action thriller that then gets injected with a whole lot of stupid when they decide to bring the T-Rex to the cities.

I'm still trying to forget the horrible third movie. JP I and JP II were great, JP I is magic.

Let's hope they have a good idea this time.

Minus the 10 seconds of gymnastics and one or two gaffes in logic (mainly scientist/baby blood and T-rex/bridge), TLW is much more entertaining than JP1. At the very least, the cliff sequence is far and away the best sequence of the series (and one of the finest of Spielberg's career, for that matter).

Actually, IIRC, Spielberg expected JP1 to get an R rating. If anyone else had made the same exact movie, it probably would have been.

Well, there isn't really any blood in JP aside from Ray Arnold's arm.

Heck a guy gets ripped in half in TLW and blood doesn't spew out everywhere.

Except that birds and dinosaurs grew up together-the first bird was around between 145 million and 160 million years ago in the Jurassic:

    Birdy birdy

They're concurrent, a heck of a lot more so than we and the other apes are. It's less chimpanzee-us and more Neanderthal-us, is my meaning.

Ooh, especially when Gennaro and Muldoon found Nedry's body. One leg chewed through, intestines strewn about, face covered with flies and maggots.

Honestly, I'm more looking forward to taking my son (loves dinosaurs, has not seen JP yet) to the 3D re-release of the first JP.

I saw the trailer in 3D today before Top Gun and I must say the 3D looks rather incredible considering this is a post-convert. I'm looking forward to this even more now.

I imagine Jurassic Park is one of the holy grails of f/x artists...the stuff they developed out of thin air for that movie was nothing short of groundbreaking. So naturally people would be trying their best. :)

Well, even a holy grail can have a shoddy conversion if the studio tries to rush it out. But it would make sense that films like JP & Titanic would have extra care given to their conversion.

Well...plus it's Spielberg. Dude hates modern technology, so I imagine they had to promise to do an above-par job to even get to do it.
