Does everything need an insta-sequel nowadays...

 

At least see how this movie does first before deciding on a major all systems go franchise sequel rampage. Jurassic World could bomb for all they know, so would a sequel then be a good idea?

 

I like that they're thinking a few moves ahead, because let's face it; there will be sequels. I just hope JW can balance setting up future films, while at the same time being a satisfying, stand-alone film itself. I don't know if any first film in a franchise has ever done that better than the original Star Wars. I'm not sure how much of that was visionary genius and how much was serendipity, but still.

JJ Abrams' go-to composer Michael Giacchino has been tabbed to do the score for Jurassic World. Fitting, as he may very well succeed John Williams again with the Star Wars saga if Abrams sticks around to do VIII and IX.

 

Giacchino already did a JP soundtrack, for the Lost World game for PS1

 

It's a small (Jurassic) world! I'm a fan of his work. Good choice IMO.

 

I wonder if that's how parents feel after their first progeny...

 

Fine choice. His LOST work is still great in my book.

Still I'm hoping he doesn't go completely in a different direction with the score. Williams main themes should be represented strongly in the film. They are apart of the Legacy of that film. Plus it's kinda hard to beat it since it's, IMO, one of Johns best scores.

 

Yeah, it's tough to step into an existing musical universe. What to use, and how much to use it? Does it serve the story or is it just fan service? But I think Giacchino is the type of composer that will be able to deftly weave in Williams' various cues and still carve out a new section of musical turf for him self.

 

I love his work and his Medal of Honor soundtracks were particularly good.
