I'm a MacDonald (of the Isles technically, though I was born in Glasgow and grew up in Culloden)

    My dad's Donald

    His dad was Donald

    My Brother's Donald

Donald MacDonald = Donald son of Donald, so it makes perfect sense.

I suppose I am technically a McDonald. Mind you the name Donaldson is a Patronymic, so the name might only go back a few generations. I don`t know enough about my family history on that side to be sure.

Anyway, I consider myself to be a McDonald.

Not remotely a MacDonald myself, but i have a friend from South Uist in the Hebrides called Donald John MacDonald.
His wife?s maiden name was MacDonald.
    They had a son.
As is tradition, the first grandson was named after a grandfather - yes his grandfather was called Ronald, although the Gaelic version of Ronald MacDonald is much better than the US scary burger purveyor.

FAO DANk DONK - did you go and see MacGowan at The Fruitmarket in Glasgow in January?

    no goddammit, I did not......

it sold out very quickly indeed ? and I wasn't nearly on the ball enough to get a ticket.

one of my pals went, however, and he said it was magic.

by contrast, the Evening Times reviewer said it was a shambles (but he's a numpty, so I'll prefer to ignore that)

perhaps its a good thing I missed him.
on both the last two McGowan occasions (SECC Pogues and last year's Fruitmarket Popes) I woke up the next day with buckfast poisoning and footprints on my back [face_laugh]
