Kam's first marriage and Luke's cheating!

From the Dark Empire Handbook ( 2000 ), page 15 :

"Sedriss took Jem Solusar hostage and attempted to escape..."

"Luke took brother Rayf and Jem Solusar with him to become Jedi, and even formed a romantic attachment to Jem. But Jem was later cut down defending the Solo children from marauding dark side kidnappers."

I wonder when Jem and Kam were married. And why did Luke feel like cheating on his new-found friend and former Dark Jedi? Obviously, the loss of his wife could have turned him back to the dark side.

 

A typo ?

Well, this latest source on Dark Empire clearly disagrees. It doesn't appear to be any typo, as it appears twice...

 

Just because they have the same last name doesn't mean that they are married. They could be relatives (like some of my cousins' last name is the same as my own) or Solusar could be a common last name in the GFFA.

Your quote doesn't say that they were married. If fact, you could read it in such a way as to say that Rayf and Jem Solusar is referring to both their last names, not just hers.

Don't worry Kinball, until this new source came along, Jem and Rayf were always called Ysanna, (though somewhere i think Jem might have been given a different name). Next time i read DE2 i'll look out for it.

Sturm and i were just commenting on the high powers of continuity and editing that the masters over at Dark Horse possess.

 

Even then, they could have two last names. That is common throughout Latin America.

I've spent enough time debating various continuity errors that I might as well suggest a fix every now and then. It is only fair.

Hey Sturm, maybe 'Solusar' is the same as 'Antilles'- a sort of GFFA form of 'Smith' or 'Jones' in terms of popularity.

It's wrong when you consider that DEII and EE call Rayf and Jem Ysanna and not Solusar.

 

Yet Ysanna was their tribe name...

The solution is that Ysanna was their maiden name. Solusar was the name they took up after getting married to Kam. It?s the only workable solution to this continuity kerfluffle. Luke was dating Kam?s new wife.

It's not the only workable solution. As I pointed out those many months ago before this thread dropped into the depths of the JC Limbo , just because they have the same last name as Kam doesn't mean that they are married to him. Since it never says that they were married (only gives a last name), why must we assume that they were? It could just be a coincidence that they have the same last name.

Look ate Wales, for example. There are a few very common last names there (Evans, Williams, Morgan, Jones), but that doesn't mean that they're all cousins or married to each other.

its gotta be a typo.......she died in Dark Empire 2 (good riddance) and she didn't marry Kam. He was what, 5 or 10 years older than Luke? *She's* the one that seduced LUKE. (I can tell - listen to the audio drama where she comes on to him!)

Listen to the Audio Drama and you'll see why i hate her. She sounded like a child! Well, she was too attracted to Luke.....if this marriage is true.....she was the one that formed the attachment......
