IIRC, Depa was already a Council member in TPM?

Assuming she became a Knight at 20, add 10 years of experience to join the Council, add 13 years between TPM and ROTS, she's already 43 during Kanan #1.

And to be honest, she looks dashing for a 43-year old lady.

 

I think she's closer to 50 than that, but still.

 

We might be conflating "attractive" with "sexualized". She does look, let's gently say healthier, in Kanan than in TPM, but I think that's just Larraz's style--and there's certainly nothing sexual about it.

I think you might be right about her being in her 40's. Although I also agree with CooperTFN that it's more an art style then trying to make her look specifically attractive. Then again, Marvel is producing this comic series and we all know what they like their women to look like...

 

The issuance of Order 66 may have a negative impact on Master Billaba's health...

 

Nonsense, blaster bolts and bloody stabs wounds are fantastic for the skin complexion.

 

Depa's brush with the dark side from Shatterpoint obviously made her younger. Look at how Palpatine de-aged between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith... (I always thought this was kind of odd, the makeup work on Ian is drastically different between AOTC and ROTS).

 

Great first issue. My second favorite one so far after the Vader line.

The artwork was great as well but I did think the first page where they were showing the Ghost Crew was a little off. They got Sabine's hair all wrong and they looked they were drawn in a different style than the rest of the issue was.

In anycase does anyone know when that scene with the Ghost Crew was supposed to take place during the season? Also I thought I heard somewhere that Weisman is only going to be writing the first arc. Is that true and if so does anyone know who will be taking over after that?

 

No announcements have been made yet. The September solicitations (meaning for #6) won't be out for a couple months yet, so we might not know for a while.

 

The recent excerpt from Dark Disciple also shows Depa Billaba on the Council late in the Clone Wars, alongside Oppo Rancisis.

Since neither Oppo Rancisis nor Eeth Koth appear on-screen in ROTS, it seems to me there's room for Billaba if we assume those two are no longer involved (dead or otherwise) with the council as of that movie. The roster at that point could well have been:

• Yoda
• Mace Windu
• Obi-Wan Kenobi
• Shaak Ti
• Saesee Tiin
• Ki-Adi Mundi
• Agen Kolar
• Kit Fisto
• Coleman Kcaj
• Stass Allie
• Depa Billaba (not on screen)
• Anakin Skywalker

Billaba could have replaced Eeth Koth before the events of Dark Disciple, and Anakin replaced Oppo Rancisis (who could easily still have died on Saleucami shortly before the events of ROTS).

 

The Council had a lot of Changes.

 

Changes are a common thing in Star Wars .

 

That list is missing Plo Koon. Add him in and there is no room on the Council for Depa.

Time to reintroduce the "Anakin as 13th Member" theory, perhaps?

 

She never did quite fully recover from Sha -- whatever situation she had been through.

I dont think it's an unreasonable assumption that whatever Depa went through (Shatterpoint-lite, I guess) got her booted off the council. It's not like she could serve if she had to "emerge" from something.

 

Caleb Dume still refers to her as "a member of the High Council" though - maybe she got suspended, another person appointed to her seat, then she was reappointed - but they haven't yet added an extra seat for her.

 

You know, maybe there actually wasn't an open spot on the Council, and when Palpatine appointed Anakin it actually increased it to thirteen members.

 

Pretty sure that's what the "Anakin as 13th Member" theory refers to.

 

It certainly seems appropriate.

 

13is an unlucky number. It all makes sense now.

 

Oh I can picture it now:

Sheev: "Ok, I'll get Anaking appointed to the council, and I'll have my future apprentice right where I want him."

Minion: "But aren't all the council positions filled right now?"

Sheev: "Of course, but it is of no concern. They'll just be one more.

Minion: "Can you do that?

Sheev: "Why not, those idiots still haven't figured it out. Even though I've been sitting in the same room with them for years. I could manipulate them to drop their pants in public if I were so inclined."

Minion: "True, very true."

Sheev: "And here's the best part, then they'll be THIRTEEN council members, an unlucky number. I'll get to dick around with them even more."

Minion: "You get off on being evil don't you."

Sheev: "Of course, it's so much fun. hahahahhaahahaha!!"
