I'm pretty sure that he was actually talking about Kanan, and also that we should stop debating canon here.

You quoted a quote with a post, you should've quoted the quote only. Anyway, apologies for being abit aggresive, I'm having a **** day tommorow and being salty about it. :/

I just said, that something similar had been done before! It has the vibe of Dark Times (judging from previews and spoilers) and simply feels like deja vu. Marvel doesn't have to look far for ideas on which direction to go. They just have to peek in Dark Horse comics. Nobody will blame them. [face_whistling]

So you haven't even read the two issues yet? Trust me, it's not like Dark Times. It's not as dark (not saying it's a lighthearted story though), and will probably not go in the same direction as Dark Times due to a couple of reasons, one being the main character (Kanan).

I'm saying this as one of the biggest Dark Times fans, and Dark Horse SW comics fan - give this series a try before you judge it like you do now.

so i gotta ask this: Do you guys think we might see scenes from A New Dawn in the Kanan comics? or would we just see Kanan's life upto A New Dawn?

I imagine it will just chronicle Kanan's life up to A New Dawn, there's very little reason to cover the same ground as the novel.

Would love to see Vidian appear in another comic series as the villain set before A New Dawn. Sadly he can't appear in Kanan because they clearly had never met each other prior to A New Dawn

I'd say that's some Seriously Awesome™ piloting skill that Caleb has. Not only he broke away from hostile forces surrounding him, he was piloting an unfamiliar ship, and the topmost panel of the last page seems to indicate him entering hyperspace nearly immediately (risking capture by Coruscant's gravity well). (Of course, there may be intervening panels/pages so it might not be as risky)

Yah, I loved how heavy this issue was. The final pages are a fantastic twist on Obi-Wan's "A New Hope" speech from "Rebels" because in the first episode, Obi-Wan's closing speech is uplifting. Here it's menacing when Caleb comes out right into the thick of it. I love just how on-his-heels Caleb seems the whole time, it really makes you root for him because he's completely adrift. This is a dark, heavy series, mostly because Caleb is being chased by his former comrades in arms who straight-up murder his master in front of him. He is a Jedi but he is kind of lacking in common sense as to how to get along in the galaxy. I loved the little speech the alien gave him, he has to learn to be a human and not a superhuman. Especially when he's a wanted criminal.

Aside, I'm not sure who came up with it, but I read a great "No Prize" retcon: the clones say "Good soldiers follow orders" when their biochip kicks in with Order 66 if they're fighting against it. If they don't say "Good soldiers follow orders" they're not very conflicted about it. It gets done, either way. Good soldiers follow orders. Awesome callback to the Clone Wars.

I actually love all of the ROTS era stuff in here, it always had a very menacing tinge to it and it gets to play to full in this time.

And, yes, the art is great. Probably my favourite art out of all the series, and that's sayin something since I love John Cassaday.

For me Kanan is a prime example of how even under Disney star wars can still give us new characters to love and follow.

My Top 5 Star Wars Characters for

    1: Obi Wan Kenobi
    2:General Grievous
    3:Kanan Jaruss
    4: Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader
    5: C 3P0

Oh man I can just see Ezra and Zeb ganging up on him about his surname. "You're last name is... Dume? And you changed it?" And then they wouldn't stop using it with undue emphasis at every opportunity.

    (Kanan tells Ezra his name)
    Ezra:Caleb!
Kanan: Don't call me that please
    Ezra: After you Caleb
    (Enter Zeb)
Zeb: What's with this Caleb thing?
Ezra: That's his name Caleb Dume
    (Zeb starts to laugh)
    Kanan: I prefer Kanan
