The guy standing next to Kanan? He's a Kalleran:

I'm wondering if those flares of flesh on either side of the head are intended to evoke a cobra's hood.

Yeah I suppose it is. Was thrown by the appearance of it.

Well looks like whoever connected the dots with the Kalleran's armor and Kanan's was right on the money.

Edit: I also have to notice, another character wielding a traditional sword. I hadn't noticed it on him when I first read #1, but this cover really draws attention to it. That now makes two of the "main" characters of this sword wielders. This guy, and the clone commander.

By the looks of things I'm guessing as each issue progresses Caleb becomes more and more cynical and cocky.

Issue 1: Don't you dare disrespect my master! Why are we fighting a war? What's the meaning of the force?.........

Issue 5: Never liked my master much anyway. That war was a waste of time. I need a drink.

While I can see the attitude ****, I don't think he'd not like Depa. I could see him getting mad that she's gone as a stage of grief or something but not outright not like her. I have a feeling he'd continue to hold her in the highest regard.

That was the impression I got in Rise of the Old Masters.

He could be cynical about Depa on the outside but secretly miss her on the inside.

Yeah, I can totally see Kanan having a macho-guy veneer for a while as a means of distancing himself mentally from his past life. I never got the sense that he moped around for over a decade lamenting his lost master -- if anything, he probably was disillusioned with the Jedi Order to some degree. Not necessarily blaming Depa exclusively, but based on Rebels and AND, he certainly wasn't ignorant of the Order's problems.

I got the impression from the Kanan comic that Depa was the one who encouraged him to go beyond "questioning just in order to understand" into considering the possibility that the High Council might have been wrong about things.

Given that her last task for him before Order 66 was:

Study the history of peaceful dissent within the Jedi Order

I could see him as being critical of everyone on the Council but Depa.
