I was being sarcastic.

 

If the Kenobi movie is like a Western film I wonder what staples of Western films we’ll see in the Kenobi movie? My theory? Kenobi with a stogie.

 

A Samurai vibe feels apt for Kenobi.

I can't wait till this is announced.

 

Have to say I wasn’t convinced by this idea due to canon restricting storytelling opportunities. However, having finally watched the phase 1 MCU films, I’ve come to realise that you don’t need much of a story to make a mainstream Hollywood blockbuster!

My guess is this will get officially announced a couple of weeks after Solo is released. If all of what we've heard is true, they're pretty much knee-deep in pre-production already (or are soon to be).

If Solo works, we’ll get Kenobi. We have to wait and see and be patient.

 

If we get an origin story I'm hoping we'll learn what Kenobi's parents hoped he would be when he grew up. Maybe he's from a humble family that ran a sandwich shop and maybe Kenobi's dad hoped that he would take over the family business one day. The name of that sandwich shop? My theory? Obi Wan's Big Hoagies.

 

I think we'll get Kenobi either way. There's just no need to announce it until they're 100% sure they have a script and director that works -- let's avoid a Josh Trank situation. Also, not to poke the hornet's nest of speculation again, but Episode 9 may yet have some relevance to a Kenobi standalone, in which case it's best not to tip one's hand. Imagine casting calls leaking out for an Obi-Wan love interest...

It would be great, but I doubt Kenobi news would be part of it... ticket sales and a focus on Solo for now seems most likely. Other than the possible Celebration news, anything else would probably be too much at once. I think it's more likely that an announcement of Kenobi or any other new Anthology movie will just come out of the blue, like the other announcements for other new movies did.

 

If it gets announced, I’m banking on June or July. It gives Disney/Lucasfilm enough time to count the money they got from Solo and decide whether or not they want to movie forward, and also gives them a bit of distance from the release.

If the box office for Solo is what they’re waiting for, it’s looking good since there are nice projections for the opening weekend.
