We are so off topic! Back to Keri Russel, Is there any more news?

 

Nah just a rumor that she might be Poe’s love interest. I could see her and Oscar having really good chemistry together.

 

Well, so much for Pinn. The Poe/Finn shippers wont be happy.

 

She is awesome, one of TV's greatest characters in The Americans.

No, she won't be Leia, Rey's mom, Rey in the future, a KOR, Mara Jade. None of the above. She won't be anyone we know about. She will be awesome though, great selection.

 

That's partly why I want Poe with Finn, if there's a romance in the ST. It's more diversity for lgbt relationships and it also forces the story to let the female characters stand on their own. For instance, one trend for Rose is that as people watched the film, they mostly liked her or just found her annoying, but it wasn't until she kissed Finn and a forced romance happened that people felt the character was insufferable. It's partly for the scene and how it felt so OOC, but also that a new female character couldn't exist without falling in love with a man. Even Holdo told Leia that she liked Poe. New female characters are introduced and in the end, their stories revolve around men.

For Keri Russell's character, I hope she isn't romantically involved with anyone. Let's bring back the theme in TFA of female empowerment. When Rey didn't need Finn's hand and at Starkiller Base, she didn't need anyone to save her. That's what drew me to the ST and I hope this new character follows a similar theme. She could be a bounty hunter, KOT, member of Black Squadron, so many things. But Poe's love interest isn't interesting.

 

I think she'll be one of the main Knights of Ren, 2nd in command to Kylo Ren. Her codename is "Mara" because she'll be similar to Mara Jade like how Ben Solo is similar to Jacen Solo.

It makes sense that some of Luke's students wouldn't all be young. I imagine like in Legends Luke went around looking for FS people of any age instead of "kidnapping" FS babies like the old Jedi.

There has been short "leak" on reddit this morning buit was removed, saying Keri is acting character named Aia or something.

 

How would you pronounce that? Ay-a?

 

Well, that's that then... I don't want another romantic subplot added to the mix. I was actually excited about the possibility of the Mara Jade thing, but if the romance stuff is true... I simply don't want this stuff. Can we please just let Poe be Poe and Keri's character be something cool? None of this is cool anymore.

Honestly my biggest fear with Keri Russell is that she turns out to be stunt casting like Daniel Craig or the "The Raid" guys. Hyped up, and then nothing happens and you've got to watch a "Star Wars Explained" video to figure out what her deal was .

Keri Russel in Star Wars? A surprise to be sure. But a welcome one.

 

Do we have confirmation that Kelly Marie Tran is back for Episode 9? If she isn't or if her role is relegated to a scene or two, then there's room for a second female "lead" type role after Daisy. Although I'd rather more screen time just go to Connix (give her something to do like a mission with Finn) than cluttering up things with a huge subplot with Kerri Russell, and I say that really liking her as an actress. Maybe a few years have passed though, and she's just there with Poe leading the Rebellion already at the start of Episode IX. Not all new characters have to be introduced during the plot of the movie. She could have joined the Rebellion shortly after TLJ and has known Poe and Finn now for years when IX begins.

 

Well fellas, i see there's a lot of speculation about Keri's possible role, but to me, people shouldn't rule out that Ms Russel, out of many actresses, would be, with the right make up and right CGI ( remember Tarkin in RO ?), someone to take over/replace Carrie as Leia.
