So, I know the killiks and their description and all was taken from Star Wars Illustrated Universe, or whatever its called. Now, Ralph McQuarrie illustrated that book, and he also illustrated for the original Battlestar galactica, where he did at least 2 pieces featuring an insectile race, which fit the description exactly, the Ovions. I was wondering if perhaps this is what the Killik looks like, in the "official" mind of the authors anyways.

Unless the Killiks use humans and other beings for food i doubt it.

I doubt it. The Killik mounds first showed up in concept art for ANH, I believe, and they were reused in the ISWU book. Besides, the ISWU was written by Kevin J. Anderson.

True, but he based all on what he saw, and he probably saw these ovions of McQuarrie as well. Well, we won't know until they release good official images of full killiks

well, even though cover art can't always be taken literally, you could look at the front of Dark Nest 1 and see what their heads at least look like, and i dont really see a resemblance. I think those Ovion whatever things are too humanoid. They look a lot like an organic form of 4-LOM too hehe.

They may also be based on work Troy Denning did for West End Games. Galaxy Guide 4 has backgrounds for:
"Xi'Dec", an insectoid species divided into several castes,
"Flakax" and "Verpines", insectoids who lived in a hive society,
"Bilars", mammalians with a group consciousness,
"Fefze", hive insects with a group consciousness,
and the "Charon", arachnid invaders from beyond the known galaxy.

I think Verpines and Charon appeared in earlier WEG adventures, but if Troy Denning invented the other four, it's not surprising he revisited some of the concepts with the Killiks.
