On November 22nd, Joseph Schönberger, TK-3699 (aka "F16WarBird") from Garrison Tyranus, will be running in the Philadelphia Marathon to raise money for the Make A Wish foundation. He?s running in memory of Katie Johnson and will run in Stormtrooper armor to increase visibility, and because Katie would've loved it. While it?s true that running in armor is no longer considered unique, at least within the Star Wars community, this effort is a little different.

Joe is spearheading an international campaign called ?Kilometers 4 Katie?. Its purpose is to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and to raise awareness of the organization and all of the fantastic work they do to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions and provide them with hope, strength, and joy. The Philadelphia Marathon is just the beginning.

?Kilometers 4 Katie,? or ?Km4KT? for short, is a group whose mission to encourage individuals to participate in events in their own towns as a member of Team: Km4KT. We may be geographically separated, but that doesn?t mean aren?t unified.

We know that one person can make a difference in the lives of others.
One person already has made that difference, and her name was Katie.

Please visit us at www.Km4KT.com and don?t forget to tell all of your family and friends.

    Thank you

Congratulations to Christian Allner who ran in the "2. Lions Benefizlauf" (2nd Lions Charity Run) this past Friday in Halle, Germany as a member of Team: Km4KT.

Christian took it upon himself to print out the "Marathon Trooper" logo and affix it on the front & back of his shirt to help spread the word and to represent Km4KT.

    Thank you, Christian.

    Prost!

BTW, our online store is nearing completion. Stay tuned for more details.

    Thanks!

The official Kilometers 4 Katie store is open!!!

We are proud to introduce everyone to our pride and joy, Katie Bear.

    [image=http://www.km4kt.com/public/katiebear.jpg]

We think Katie would've loved having a teddy bear with pink running shoes.

10% of the sale of each item will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in memory of Katie, with the rest going to CafePress. We do not profit on these sales. We are only interested in spreading the word about Make-A-Wish's great works and to share the memory of Katie.

It's an easy and fun way to represent Km4KT at your local events.

If you would like to make a donation directly, in lieu of a product purchase, you can do so by visiting our online donation page at www.firstgiving.com/Team-Km4KT.

** NOTE ** We cannot legally sell merchandise with the marathon trooper on it, so this cute little fur ball is the new face of Km4Kt. However, there will be a private run of marathon trooper shirts & patches in the near future.

Thank you, and stay tuned! We have a lot more surprised planned.

    MWG Quilt Auction, WWC

During Chicago Comic Con (aka Wizard World Chicago) 2009, the Midwest Garrison will be auctioning a quilt for charity.

In their support of the mission of Kilometers 4 Katie (www.Km4KT.com) who are raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation to raise awareness of the organization and all of the fantastic work they do to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions and provide them with hope, strength, and joy.

Most of the Km4KT fundraisers involve people running in events to raise money for Make-A-Wish, but in an effort to reach out, the Midwest Garrison will be presenting this quilt for auction.

It will be on display at the Midwest Garrison?s booth at Wizard World/Chicago Comic Con this year (2009), but the actual auction method has not yet been determined.

The quilt is approximately 45? wide by 54? tall. The quilt is boxed in an archival quality, dye/acid free box, wrapped in tissue paper.

The quilt was made by Jennifer Loomis and Anthony Day, members of the Midwest Garrison.
