Your character will adventure with two others, to make a party of three. The NPCs will be fleshed out like never before and have a great deal of scripting to give the feeling that they grow throughout the game.

Only 3 characters per party, and by the sounds the "other" two will have good enough AI that you won't need to stop & redirect them in the heat of the battle. That will leave you in control of your own character during fights (which I believe will perhaps be closer to JK than Baldur's Gate in style).

Here's a link to some screenshots of Neverwinter Nights. It'll give you an idea of what the engine of KotOR might be like:

    Wow, thanks Ender!

Man, KOTOR is going to be one beeeeeeautiful game! Just look at some of shadows working with the torches in Neverwinter Nights! Niiiiiice. Oh, and this fight style definitely sounds better (to me, at least) than what I've heard of BG and BG2.

I know what *I'm* asking for Christmas this year! :D

    No problem!

Neverwinter will be out before Knights so I'm a little more excited about that one right now. It has an editor that will allow you to create new adventures as well.

"That will leave you in control of your own character during fights (which I believe will perhaps be closer to JK than Baldur's Gate in style)."

In BG, you gave your NPCs scripts that made them do things like attack the strongest enemy, heal wounded, etc. In my experierience, it worked great against normal encounters, but against the hard ones you sent your own commands to the characters. I suspect Knights will be the same, no scripting is as good as a player.

depends for MOTS there is the conc and the extended saber. JK does not have the conc. :(

    FORCE FLY = easier

    evade/kick still all good.

Force chain lightning for MOTS - you must target the person - and it lets out a sharp ZAP (JK is like SBX2 for lightning)

Different Saber stances. 5 for extended saber. 2 for lightstaff. (front and side).

more - but forgotten now - massassi has it to DL, and the page where you DL it from has a description.

    good skins too!

I'm with Ender; Neverwinter Nights looks really good, and it's coming out sooner than KOTOR. But it looks like KOTOR is shaping up nicely. I like how KOTOR limits you to only 2 other party members. Hopefully the NPCs will be as fleshed-out as they were in BG2.

Think this will follow any stories from the Comic Book this is set round?

    RF,

Despite its title and the fact that it's said to be based on the comics of the same name, it's apparently a new, not-before-seen conflict taking place 300 years after the Sith War....I think.

    Ahh, right right.

Funny, I ordered that today, then saw the same name and timeframe :)

Star Wars® Knights of the Old Republic?
Check back here later this week for an update from LucasArts about
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.

    Probably the x-box news... [face_plain]

    You're probably right. [face_plain]

The good news is that E3 is around the corner so I imagine we'll see more about this game soon.

I sent this in to TF.N Games the other day, but they didn't find it postworthy. JediNet posted it though.

In Computer Games #137, it is stated that the XBox version will be out this year, but PC won't follow until 2003. LucasArts felt it wouldn't be smart to release two PC-based RPGs in the same year, so they're perfecting the PC version until next year.

Also in this issue were the first-ever screenshots of KOTOR. There are five total and they look awesome!

I have a feeling this is what LucasArts will be announcing this week.

Sounds like Microsoft wants people to go out and buy a X-Box so you can play it a year early.

Oh well, I'll have Neverwinter Nights and Morrowind to keep me busy.

So is the Xbox getting an imperfect version of the game?

Yup, the Xbox version won't have Lightsabers in it.
