Considering buying an XBOX console for KOTOR, are you able to explore outside your missions and if so is there anything of interest?. For example, once outside of Anchorhead, is there anything of interest in the Dune Sea and how far can you go?.

The Dune Sea is very interesting. You can visit a Tusken Raider settlement.
The Jawa Sandcrawler is also worth seeing.
You can hunt and change your hunting treasures for money.

If you have the game, I would certainly not skip this part.

You do realise that KotOR is also on PC and mac, right? I also hear that both are compatible with the 360. It'd be worth looking into those options first, especially as it's only £6.99 on Steam.

I doubt either the PC or Mac versions are compatible with the xbox360.

I originally had it for the PC, but I've got XP instead of Vista :(

It should work on XP. It'd be worth trying at least. If it doesn't work you've lost nothing, and if it does work then you've saved some money.

It works just fine on WinXP. Playing it on the PC is probably your best bet and it is dirt-cheap on Steam. Although it plays on the 360, occasional audio and video glitches may pop up due to inevitable incompatibility issues.

Playing KOTOR on PC would be good, though you probably will need to do some tweaking like modding aspects of the .ini file in order to get it windowed but without any crashes during interplanetary travel (at least that's what I did since I use windows 7).

Why would you want to play it windowed? That just sounds like crazy talk to me.

I believe the PC version also has additional content such as the Yavin station.

I had to play KOTOR II windowed to get it to work on Vista.

Xbox version had the yavin station too but probably can't download it anymore.

    PC version ftw

I played all the way through both KOTOR games on Vista, full-screen with no problems.

There's also the Krayt Dragon cave holding the Star Forge. Ancherhead also has the shop with HK-47.

I tried replaying KOTOR on my 360 a few years ago, and it was super choppy. But last night I booted the disc up again - I thought the periodic xbox system updates might have improved the performance - and it runs pretty smooth! I played for about two hours, running through the Endar Spire and the gladiator duels on Taris. Occasionally the dialogue skips, but it's totally playable.

I'm psyched - this is one of my favorite games. Time to relive the magic.

So if you have a 360 and can get ahold of the disc, I recommend giving it a shot.
