    That racing footage makes the race to free Bastilla so much more intense. I really enjoy watching that scene. Are there going to be any decent dog-fighting scenes? If so, where would you be getting them from? I figure that space battles are kind of a Star Wars staple. What are your thoughts?

    Burrie, I really hope you do release your work to the net and/or dvd. This might sound rude, but there is almost nothing worse than hearing about something cool like this and knowing that you'll never get to see it.

    Some of us may not have the equipment to do what you are doing, or have the inclination/talent, but it is exciting to see all of the projects coming out by the people that do. So, I hope that you do make it available. I'll be looking forward to it.

    Kaydon, I am really looking forward to your next update. I think the Machinama format is great for doing fan films. There are no cheap sets, no poor effects...the only things that can really be botched are the story and the acting...wait...uh...:)

    And just where did you take those shots of Logan in the Pod Racer? I really can't recognise that background.

    Looks like it's in front of the ladder that lead's to the Ebon Hawk's gun turret.

    I am the one thats in Jedi Academy that is interested in doing a KOTOR movie. We have people making maps of the environments and making player models. I have also started voice casting, we have several roles already taken, but still plenty to be filled. I have some voice demos up on Jedi-Outcast Movie's forums, which is located here:
    http://jomovies.proboards36.com/index.cgi?board=KOTOR . So if anyone is interested helping with voice talent please do.

    Everything looks great so far. You should be sure to introduce the troubles of Kashyyk early on in the movie. Freeing the Wookies will seem like more of an accomplishment if their situation was a major focus, just as the Death Star was in Episode IV, and the Naboo Invasion was in Episode I.

    Well, I finally had some time free again, and decided to do some more editing for my version. With some edits in place, I finally managed to complete the Endar Spire sequence. Only some sound effects need to be added, and the music might be slightly tweaked, but I'm very satisfied with the result.

    Unfortunately, I'm quite unable to compress in a small format, but I'll give a breakdown of Episode 1 so far...

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/1.jpg]
    The same text crawl, leading up to the Endar Spire attacked by Sith Fighters.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/2.jpg]
    Couple of cutscenes of the soldiers attacking and killing each other

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/3.jpg]
    Dark Jedi vs. Jedi. As in the game, the Dark Jedi is defeated, but the scene cuts immediately there. The Jedi isn't killed in a random explosion.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/4.jpg]
    Attack on the bridge. Kane, Trask, Carth, and a random Republic soldier are killing various troopers. Carth announces that they can't hold out for long. A trooper is killed, and the music softly stops

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/5.jpg]
    Cut to the Jedi running around on the ship, where she walks up to...

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/6.jpg]
    Darth Bandon, Dark Lord of the Sith and apprentice to Lord Malak.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/7.jpg]
    In the brief battle that follows, Bandon easily dominates and defeats her.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/8.jpg]
    Back with the heroes, Carth and Kane are attacking a group of Sith Soldiers. Trask exclaims "There is nothing stopping them from blasting the Endar Spire into galactic dust".

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/9.jpg]
    While Carth and Kane attack the troopers, Trask checks out a nearby door(The line 'There is something behind here' was cut, it made him look like a bloody Ric Olie) The door reveals Bandon. Trask shouts for the others to head to the escape pod, as he makes his sacrifice.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/10.jpg]
    Carth and Kane defeat the troopers and run along.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/11.jpg]
    Meanwhile, ahead, there is a large group of Sith Soldiers near the escape pod waiting for anyone trying to escape. Things looks hopeless for our heroes...

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/12.jpg]
    But a T3 unit is fiddling with a nearby electronic circuit. The troopers don't seem to notice him.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/13.jpg]
    The T3 unit makes a quick escape.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/14.jpg]
    And with the resulting explosion, all troopers are easily disposed off.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/15.jpg]
    Carth and Kane arrive at the escape pod. Kane exclaims that he can't believe how easy it was to get here, expecting more resistance.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/16.jpg]
    Carth quickly checks the nearby console. There is one escape pod left, Bastila has already escaped the Spire and that they're the last surviving crew members of the Spire. Kane notices that the T3 unit wants to come along as well.

    [image=http://alx.vanderleun.com/~ruben/KotOR_Breakdown/17.jpg]
    The escape pod launches with Carth, Kane and T3 onboard, heading towards Taris, escaping the destruction of the Endar Spire.

    To be continued. So far, the movie is 5 minutes and 45 seconds long.

    As I said, I'm very satisfied with this scene. I especially enjoyed introducing T3 here. Originally, I simply wanted him to trail the heroes and hop along, but I liked to show that he's definately not your average T3-unit, and is quite capable of taking out a few troopers by being bloody sneaky.

    Now, if there's any interest in any particular scene in here(I'm not going to show it completely), just tel

    Looks awesome guy! Can't wait to see some footage. Do you actually use an edit hack thingy to get into the game's coding and do stuff as you'd like? Again looks good.

    Good news from both fronts, then... I'm about to leave for the night so I'll make this quick...

    I outputed 33 minutes from the film (Logan striking a deal with the Beks thru him becoming a Jedi on Dantooine) onto a full DVD, just to see how the sound and visuals would come off from a dvd player and then onto my projection screen and home theater. The results were superb! About 5 minutes in, you'll really think less about machinima (or whatever it is called) and its simply a Star Wars story. I was pleased with the pacing as well. Just thought I'd let everyone know... I was going to kill the project if it didn't provide a good home theater experience... but just my luck, it works great. Haha, :) Anyways, progress is that I'm just at Logan reaching Jedi-hood. There'll be no Juhani... we are going straight to the ruins... with any luck I'll get on Kaskyyk around the same timeframe as we got to Bespin in Empire. ;)

    Have a good weekend, all!

    Well, a bit, aye. There are some tools out there where you can add items and remove them, and with some scripting, turn creatures into player characters as well, or make them friendly to the player(this is how I managed to get a few shots of T3 standing close to the troopers). As for the lightning and all, as you prolly guessed, that's just a shot for when the player uses the console near them.

    Plus, I can also simply warp from area to area, using save games to get the characters I need(again, like T3).

    And the whole editing aspect is going to be real handy when I'm going to film the little Sith vs. Tusken Enclave/Party scene for the final battle in Episode 1.

    Another neat little trick what I also find useful is using the solo mode to create a few shots where characters are running towards the camera. What I do first is put the characters into solo mode, have one PC act as the camera and walk away from the others. After that, I turn solo mode off again, and the party run towards the active PC. When I watch that via first-person mode, I can get some neat shots, like the one with T3 escaping, or Carth/Kane running into the escape pod room.

    Unfortunately, with the 15 FPS, I could never turn this into a neat home-video feature, but 'oi... I'm definately enjoying editing and bringing things togeter like this. It's a neat project. Nonetheless, I hope that I'll be able to somehow obtain your version.

    EDIT: I see that you cut Juhani as well. I can remember that you originally wanted Juhani's death to be a real failure for Logan. What made you decide to cut her? Pacing? Also, I take it that Logan will immediately become a Jedi in Episode 1 and will have the 'jedi training scene'?

    I don't know that any of the scenes above really need any more explanation then you already gave. I would like to see some more of what happens once the group lands on the planet, Burrie.

    Kaydon, can't wait for your next clip. That race scene was great. What's next?

    Mmmm, did a bit of testing with Magix Videodeluxe, and managed to get a little clip from T3's gambit on the Sith soldiers. I removed the sound to keep the file size small as well.

    If anyone's interested...

    That looks great, better selection of characters than the original poster for sure. Selkath instead of Carth?! But, the rectangle around Malak is a little awkward. Perhaps you could just make the area around him black.

    One more thing - music. I heard Joel McNeely's "Beggar's Canyon Chase" in the pod race clip. Gotta credit him too. ;)

    "Speeder Bike chase on Dantooine? Wha!?" indeed... which game are you going to use to pull that off? And how will it factor into the storyline?

    If I might harbour a guess... this will happen when the party travels to the temple? If so, interesting choice. Would add to the usual pace a bit, adds a nice action scene, and gives the party something to do when travelling. I was personally planning on having a few more talks with either Bastila or Carth while travelling to the temple.

    In any case, very excited to see what you'll do this time :D
