He's a coward who appeases 'authority' figures who shouldn't be any such thing. He's dull, wouldn't know an original idea if it bit him, and cares more about getting his pat on the head than for the Force.

I'm not bullying him, I'm applying creativity to the effort of shaking him out of that narrow lane of thought. If he's busily claiming he could lead the Jedi, he needs a bit of a shake-up.

The fact that it's funny is a side benefit.

And if he stops putting himself over the rest of us, I'll leave him be. It stops being as fun when he stops thinking he's in charge.
