Yeah, we hope you'll be able to make it to Farpoint, but don't worry about that, right now! Get better soon. Our thoughts are with you!

Thanks for the well wishes, everybody. I was in the hospital from Friday through last night with some sort of severe headache and seizure-like thing that isn't an actual seizure, and the doctors are stumped by it.

So naturally, they discharged me with all symptoms intact and no diagnosis. Doctors are so stupid...

I've been though multiple CAT scans, an MRI, EEG, and a few different ultrasound tests, and none of them came up with anything. I've got to follow up with a neurologist- but of course it looks like I may have to cool my heels for a month waiting for an appointment.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I'll make it to Farpoint this year or not. If I do, I'll be the official Galactic Senate cocktail shaker- just put it in her hand and let her go!

Anyway, at least we know that, in the immortal words of Arnold Schwarzengger, "It's not a tumor."

I had the Amish hats in progress before getting sick but not actually done, and it's doubtful that I'll be able to work on them before Farpoint. As an alternative, you can use a plain flat-brimmed straw hat with a black band as a hat- it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Okay, you've been sick, so I decided to be nice and not just quote the last part. :)

Anyway, glad you're ummm... better? Are you better? Not worse, I hope. Well, I'm glad you're still around. :D

And hey, if you can make it to Farpoint, great. We could use a cocktail shaker. I'm determined at Farpoint to create a Crazy Old Wizard drink. Not sure what to put into it yet, but we can sure have a lot of fun trying. :)

Lori, I'm sorry that they couldn't find what was wrong. I wonder about hospitals sometimes. My mother was in and out of the ER a few years ago with shooting searing pain in her side. After hours each time they sent her home with a pain killer and a shrug.

She was also suffering from severe vertigo and went to all kinds of specialists, including neurology tests. (Hospital was useless again) A simple procedure at the ear nose and throat doctor cured her. (It was an inner ear issue).

Don't dispair...but I'm troubled that you have to wait a while for your appointment. Perhaps you should find another doctor that can accomodate you sooner?

Just take it easy and I hope you get better soon!

Ah, hospitals. Don't get me started on hospitals.

At least you're home. That's got to improve your condition immensely!

Meanwhile, the Lancaster County Garrison can wait. That's the beauty of the Amish. They're timeless and unchanging, so we don't need to rush it. And hey, you might be able to get some apprentice hat makers out of this.

Lori, I'm here if you need me. Take things easy and I pray the doctor gets to the root of this sooner rather then later. There will always be another Far Point.

I'm still the Detachment Leader for one more week so considering the above an order Snowtrooper!

(Lori knows what I'm talking about) ;)

Well to be honest, my damn helmet didn't show up anyways, so I was doubtful on the Amish thing. Not to mention I'd like to get a slightly better costume than just the helmet and some overalls, so I actually wouldn't mind holding off on this.

I do hope you feel better. Let's hope for the best of all worlds: they find something wrong & it's easy to fix.

And that part of the cure is a long vacation under a palm tree, a cool breeze blowing gently off the turquoise clear waters, and a foofy drink in your hand!! :) (ok, so that's the kind of cure I'd like.)

I hope that's part of the cure myself! Just try to get insurance to pay for it, though! [face_not_talking]

    When Amish Hats Are Drying...

Work has recommenced on the Lancaster County Garrison Hats!

Buckram pieces are drying for components of five different hats as I type. I am currently working on hats for:

    Snowtrooper: me (of course!)
    Imperial Officer: Eric
    Vader: Charles
Greedo: Ken (that will be good- I'll be cutting a LOT of holes in that hat!)
    Clonetrooper: Eugenia

Wendy is making her own Snowtrooper hat, and I'm awaiting information on helmets from one or two other people.

There's still a lot of work to go, but we're up and rolling again!

    -Lori

    Addendum:

I just covered the top of my hat with the felt, and it actually looks GOOD! Although I've been making costumes for years, it never fails to amaze me when my wild ideas first show signs that they'll actually (gasp) work! Now I add the brim and my hat will be done!

And on a related note, now's the time when the stores have all the gardening implements out, even in child (less dangerous) versions. So, hoe up, everyone!!!

    Thanks Lori!!!

I thought I was doing the Jedi? Charles needs SOMEONE to have a light-axe battle with!

Maybe I need to think about this, though. The officer might work better - everything's already black. Hmm...

Oops, okay, Eric is a Jedi. It matters not- all I need to know is that his hat IS NOT over a helmet! Amend list accordingly.

Amish Yoda...I do have the mask if we have any volunteers... Anyone? Anyone?

Hey, Eric, you did want to be a Jedi, right! [face_laugh]

I suppose I could do Amish Yoda since the status of my helmet is in limbo. I don't have any robes or anything, but we're just doing Amish garb, right?

    Yeah, plain black pants and shirt with suspenders, plain black shoes, Yoda mask and Amish hat would work if you want to keep it simple. Or you could vary any part of it to make it more like Jedi attire. Just so long as it's funny... 8-}

Plus it would be most amusing trying to see you get that mask over your head...no way! Not in a millenium!

I think you underestimate the ridiculousl smallness of my head. Once I finally found sunglasses that didn't look ridiculously huge on my face...they were children's sunglasses /sigh. I have a very very small head. You'd be surprised. And I'm short. Bring the mask to the next meeting and I'll try it out ;P
