Lancaster Historical Society Appearance - 8/28

Hello,

The old thread served its purpose of getting us a date for this event, so I closed it. We are looking at August 28th for this appearance.

The Lancaster Historical Society would like the North Ridge to do a special event for them at the Old Lancaster Schoolhouse at the corner of Bowen Rd and William Street. The school house will be open for tours, etc, but they intend this to be an outdoor event. In particular, they would like us to do our training, so will need a couple Jedi as trainers. It is in a nicely wooded location, so we're thinking it would be perfect to feature our Endor component as well.

Appearance will be from 12-2. Arrival between 11 and 11:30.

They will make a donation for Compass House and are fine with us having the donation bucket out also. No photo backdrops will be needed as there really is no place appreciate to set them up.

Was discussing this today with the LHS folks. They plan to heavily promote this in the Lancaster-Depew area and are counting on a big turnout. I've given them the basic do's and don't's regarding advertising so that no one's knickers get in a twist. They will clear out a corner of the schoolhouse for us to use as a changing area, and I'm now thinking perhaps the action figure backdrop could be set up there to serve as both photo op location and to hide our bags and baggage. Outdoors,still thinking it would be great for photos with our Endor component (Nick ?, Mike ?, Jake?). I'll wear my ERT also.

I told them we'd do the advertised "Lightsaber Demonstration" ( secret code for Jedi Training, so I've been told ) at 1PM with photo ops before and after during the two-hour event. They are very hospitable people and at my request will have bottled water and snacks available for us.

 

I'm not working, so I will be there.

I'm sorry but I am unavailable due to church.

 

At this point we are uncertain if we are going out of town. We are now a maybe!

 

The LHS have evidently secured a fairly large quantity of Star Wars toys that were Burger King meal premiums a few years back (through a member who is a toy collector/dealer of sorts). They plan to have these as giveaways for kiddies who come to the event and suggest we have our Compass House donation buckets at the ready as these are made available to the attendees!

UPDATE: I have arranged for the Schoolhouse building to be closed to the public so that we have exclusive access for changing and secure storage of our bags and baggage. I will also have a 12 x 12 pop-up shelter on site where we can set up a table and donation station, banners, etc. Because this will be an outdoor event, I doubt that a photo backdrop will be necessary. The surrounding scenery will be sufficient. There are permanent restroom facilities on site (i.e., NOT porta-potties!)

Any other Endor Troopers or Forest Jedi planning to attend?

 

Emily and I are unavailable. We will be at a wedding.

 

Well, as of right now, the 28th works for me Tom.

 

It's a partially wooded setting, so the Endor forest costumes will be great.. but all other costumes are also welcome! They specifically requested that we do the Jedi Training Academy (um...I mean "Lightsaber demo"...) so Jedi knights are definitely needed.

 

We will still be there, fully loaded.

This is looking to be a big group from us, and that's AWESOME!

I unfortunately have to back out of this event as a old friend is coming into town from North Carolina. I haven't seen her in two years and have yet to meet her daughters. I hope you all understand.
