ST Lando is back but why not Wedge???

Ok seriously I was happy that Billy Dee Williams is back for Episode 8 but how about Wedge? As Gimpy said in the TV show the Undergrads, you are the Wedge to my Luke Skywalker. Trust worthy, loyal, and he never dies. I mean Admiral Ackbar and Nien Nunb made appearances so it would be cool to see Wedge there. Just saying.

 

Lando back? did I miss something?

 

The actor who played Wedge pretty much refused to return. He feels that he's past the stage in his acting career to do Star Wars or other movies like it, sadly.

Yeah Lando is supposed to be making a cameo appearance for Episode 8. Too bad about Wedge.

I hope we see Billy Dee back as Lando at some point but I fear it's not looking great

As I understand, he was willing to reprise the role if it was more than a cameo. He wanted a role of some substance. They didn't do that, of course, so no Wedge. I like Lawson, and am a but disappointed we didn't get to see Wedge again, but there ya go.

We need Wedge back because Wedge is awesome and should be in charge of everything anyway. I believe he was offered a cameo in Revenge of the Sith (not sure how that was gonna work), but declined.

All throughout TFA one big question I had was, where is Lando?

 

Dennis Might make a cameo in Rogue One.

 

Being the mack daddy, playa, shot-caller, baller, lady-killer, top-biller that he is.

 

I bet Lor San Tekka was originally Wedge.

 

I think I laughed at this longer than what the label prescribed.

 

Lando is rumoured for Episode 8, but only “rumoured”. As for Wedge, I believe the actor was actually asked to come back for TFA, but declined due to his small role.

 

I don't see what's so crazy about the idea.

 

Someone on these boards once claimed that Major Ematt was intended to be Wedge but when I asked them the source they went quiet.

If it was true I could understand Lawson turning down that role. Lot of standing around for a couple of lines.

 

I think Dennis Lawson said he'd find it boring to cameo as Wedge, as he wouldn't really have much to do, which I guess he can understand. The guys who came back as Nien Nunb and Admiral Ackbar at least get to wear cool costumes and alien prosthetics; it's not like he'd have a major role like Ford or Fisher had, or Hamill will presumably have in VIII. Plus, Wedge is really more of a big deal in the EU books and comics than in the films.

Lando, on the other hand? He's Lando. The Lando. There's really no comparison.

 

Not only is it an old article, but Billy Dee also says that at the time, there was no Lando in Episode VIII. Here's the quote.

So it is far from confirmed that Lando will be in VIII.

 

Maybe in Lando's cameo he could say something thus have more dialog than Luke in EP7 then they could give Lando second billing.....
