I was watching RTOJ and in the part right after the Rebels have their meeting you see Lando and Han walking in the hangar. Han tells Lando to take the Falcon. My question is this what if Han didn't want Lando to touch the Falcon...what ship would Lando used ? Did he have his own ship for battle ?

Someone like Lando I dunno if he'd have a ship that was capable of flying into a battle. I always pictured him with something more like Queen Amidala's ship shiney and slick ship.

Lando did own his own ship, a sleek yacht called the Lady Luck. It probably wasn't at the Rebel rendezvous point at Sullust, but he could have easily gone to pick it up.

He could've went and picked up the Lady Luck though I doubt he would've. She is just not equipped for combat, much less a major offensive.

I imagine they would have given Lando command over some kind of ship, perhaps a Corellian Corvette, Mon Cal cruiser or something of that size.

It seems odd that for a guy who (when last they met) turned him over to Darth Vader, to be asking for the keys to a man's favorite ride? But since Lando did play a part in his rescue, it seems as if Han and Lando...it would seem as though Han has put that behind them. He even put in a word about "the battle of Taanab" to get the new recruit a field promotion of General.

Who knows where lando keps Lady Luck during ROTJ, I'm sure Lando knows a place or two to stash a ship.

I think Han's comment of "I mean it, take her" was part of Lando's reluctancy to just assume Han would let him fly the Falcon.

I thought Lando never acquired Lady Luck until after ROTJ.

I always assumed that as well. I had figured that Lando, being the smooth guy he is, would have bought that ship straight from the shipyard and would have probably purchased it sometime after ROTJ. I imagine that when one is fighting in a war, purchasing a luxury ship is kinda low one's list of priorities.... I guess he could have purchased it while he was on Bespin, but the Empire seemed a bit grabby when they were taking over the place so it could have gotten taken by them pretty quickly.

Doesn't really matter, I know, but I've always loved idle speculation.

I'm not exactly sure WHEN he aquired the Lady Luck. I know an issue of "Star Wars Tales" had it that he won the ship in a card game in one of the Bespin casinos. I assumed it was during his time as Baron Administrator of Cloud City...I could be mistaken.

Whatever ship Lando was using (if any) at the time, he probably had stashed somewhere where Imperials wouldn't find it. And since joining the Skywalker gang...he'd been riding in the Falcon when he became a General.

Lando was planning to buy the Lady Luck shortly after he lost the Falcon to Han, about 3 years before ANH, so it's safe to say he bought the ship by ROTJ.

I think the EGVV said that Lando acquired the Lady Luck from some princess. I can't remember the exact time though.

At any rate, the Lady Luck is hardly suited for combat, as it has poor armor and weaponry. Seeing as how Lando would be leading the starfighter force, I'd imagine he'd fly some type of starfighter himself, i.e. an X-wing or a B-wing, or maybe a modified light freighter similar in size and speed to the Millenium Falcon.

Lando would be a fool to fly the Lady Luck into a comabat zone like the space battle in rotj. I always assumed he would have flown one of the rebel fighters, or perhaps he owned his own fighter already.

I never saw Lando as the type of guy who would fly something as vulnerable as a fighter (never mind I don't think he's trained as a fighter pilot)...not doubting his courage, just not his style. If anything he'd command the starfighter group from a light transport (something like a Corvette)

Lando does have a lot of style, but leading an attack from the rear probably isn't part of it. Since he was leading a fighter attack, he would probably fly a fighter. Being in gold group, it might have been a Y-wing.

Maybe Lando felt that Han would let him use the Falcon. After all it was Lando's ship before Han won it from him. So Lando probably didn't even have a ship with him and assumed that Han would let him use the Falcon.

I heard about the Lady Luck and don't think it would be the best choice for battle. It'd be like driving a caddie with couple guns on it...into the middle of a battle field.

    Twisted metal anyone?

I feel that Lando would have ridden a giant bottle of that smooth tastin Colt 45.!

And what is Lady Luck, I checked the SW.Com database, (norm and EU) and I can't find anything on it...

I don't know much about the Lady Luck but I think that Han wanted Lando to use the Falcon and probably offered him the use of it without Lando asking.

    1. If they failed in the mission Han and everyone else would have died anyway.

    2. Han knows that Lando is a more than competent pilot. Possibly the best pilot next to Luke, Wedge, and Han himself.

    3. Han doesn't need it.

    4. It's the fastest ship in the fleet.

    5. The rebels have a much better chance with one of the Rebel's best pilots in the Rebel's fastest ship.

Han would have been a fool to not let Lando use the MF.
