Funny one there on "Night of the Comet". That's the one where most of humanity is wiped out right? I haven't seen that in years.

I gotta throw in 'The Fugitive' with Ford/Jones. I loved this movie

    THE STAR WARS SAGA

Yeah, it counts as one film :)

    Nice list Darth Olsen Twins.

I am also a big fan of the Princess Bride. Funny that Unforgiven was brought up. My cousin, father and I were talking about what a great movie it is, perhaps Hackman's best performance in a highly distinguished career.

I do prefer Royal Tenenbaums to Rushmore, although Rushmore is excellent. I also prefer Snatch to Lock, Stock...

I'd have to take issue with the Contender. Too preachy for me.

No one mentions Schindler's List, Shawshank Redemption, Terminator 2, the Matrix? For shame!

Wait a minute, whats the topic of this thread again?

Unforgiven was a good film, but I found the ending slightly hypocritical. All throughout the film we hear what a terrible thing it is killing a man, and how William Munney just wants to hang up his guns. Then how does the film end?

    <SPOILER SPACE>

The same way all his westerns end. Clint kills everyone. :)

Clint needs to run these boards...(No offense to the moderators who ban people for no good reason)

Too much flaming=banning. Sorry, Charlie, but only the freshest tuna gets into a can of Star-Kist.

    Greetings,

I was able to meet with Mr. Card last weekend at a convention.

He's actually a really cool guy, with some good novels under his belt.

I think Card is entitled to his opinion like anyone else. Card is NOT a film critic, but he is a darn good writer. He said that if it were him, he would have started the film with Anakin's mother being captured.

That's rather funny, because in the novel it happens exactly like that.

Basically, Card seems to like Peformances and Characters, which he is good at making. He directs plays, and writes character-driven novels. This clashes with the epic scope of AotC.

Could Card have written the characters better himself? Certainly. But there's more to the film than that, Mr. Card.

As for me, I disagree with him. But he has a right to his opinion.

I've just had a read through this thread, and it has come so close to getting closed.

If it stays on-topic and doesn't descend into quasi-flaming, it can stay open.

Dooku2004, 2016: I have banned you for coming back under a sock. You may think that 'no good reason,' but you'd be wrong.

Don't bother coming back until you've had a change of attitude.

I just want to say that every time I read anyone post that AOTC and TPM are bad because it has cheesy dialouge and is based only on sfx yadda yadda yadda but then says SW,ESB and ROTJ are far superior to these and are the best movies of all time it makes me laugh.

These original 3 movies have the exact same problems, exactly, I am sure you will find if you go back and read the original reviews of movies from back then you would see the same thing.

I am in no way trying to offend either Davheed or Jabbadabbado by this either, just something I want to point out.

I'm just stunned that people actually believe The Holy Grail is better than one of my all time favourites: The Life of Brian. Now that's funny. And it actually has something to say.

    1) Star Wars (ANH but I'll include the entire saga- it's special)

    2) The Right Stuff

    3) The Life of Brian

    4) Raging Bull

    5) Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade (My dad is in it!)

    6) Godfather Part II

    7) Lawrence of Arabia

    8) Goodfellas

    9) Apocalypse Now (The original version, not the 'redux'!)

    10) This is Spinal Tap

    Sooo conventional, I know.

I think it's very tasteless to ban people for loving star wars. If spending over $100.00 to see AOTC means I should be banned, while someone who sees it once and bashes it can stay, then ban me too....we're with you Dooku2004, Dooku2016 and Dooku2008!!!

And you are banned like them.

This thread has lost all direction, so I'm locking it.
