I was just wondering if Caroline Blakiston might reprise her role as Mon Mothma, seeing as how she's still acting. Looking at some photos of her, I noticed a very slight resemblance to Laura Dern. I wonder if Laura's character is from the Mothma family. We got Bib's cousin in Rogue One, so, who knows?

Would be an interesting twist if Dern was a Naberrie.

 

I wonder will they change Laura character's story arc in the Ep9, if shell survive the Ep8 and Leia's role will be less prominent in Ep9.
I mean, what if they'll decide to develop Laura's character into some kind of "Leia"-like figure for SW franchise. If shell be a villain in the Ep8, will she get the arc of redemption? If shell going to die in the Ep9, will her story be redon and shell survive? Will she be a more important character for ST now?



p.s. How much are chances that her character was a Luke's wife who left him or was left by him after Kylo Ren's incident? It would create pretty interesting dynamic between her, Leia and Luke.

Can't see it, unless Sola had another child after Ryoo and Pooja. Luke and Leia's cousins were a few years older than them which would not really work with Dern being younger than Fisher and Hamill.

 

I mentioned to my wife the theory that Rey is a Kenobi, so we joked about Laura playing Jennifer Kenobi, Obi-Wan's niece

 

Every time I remember that she's part of the cast It makes me happy. Laura Dern is so great. Hoping her character gets a fair amount of time on screen, but my guess is that it'll be a bit part.

 

Here's a twist.

Captain Phasma has a secret non-military life and that life is whatever Laura Dern's character has. Gwendolyn Christie only plays Phasma 'in suit', but story-wise, it's actually Laura Dern's character under the helmet similar to how they handled Vader in the OT. We're kept in the dark about this until a critical moment.

For this to work though...Laura Dern will have to do a good Gwendolyn Christie impression or the helmet has a voice changer in it. Why not, you can get them at Wal-Mart. I suppose there's a height difference too, but that could be worked around.

 

Interesting. Maybe Laura Dern is the head of Walmart, a new Imperial faction?

 

According to MSW rumors Dern's character has pink/purple hair and an Effie Trinket vibe, I'm curious to see what the rest of her costume looks like.

Yeah. I hope the hair is more Amidala than Trinkett. The former feels appropriately historical, while the latter feels more steampunk (which doesn't jive with my view of the GFFA).

I think the most likely scenario is that her role will be comparable to Lando in TESB or Jango in AOTC. Not a main character, but still important.

 

Which is why Episode 6 should be renamed... to Revenge of the Ewoks.
