I'm always amazed when people say things like "Oh she must be a Skywalker because she is blonde/redhead".

I mean speculation is fun, but it's so unimaginative to jump to these conclusions when we know NOTHING about her character. She could just as easily be Ackbar's wife let alone a Skywalker based off what we know. It's so boring. Haven't we learned from months and years of tedious speculation that Finn is Lando's son, Lupita is Ventress, Gleeson is Luke's son, etc

IF she is playing Luke's Wife it's possible she's probably been dead at least ten years... So the "actual" age gap would be closer to five years.
IF she is playing Luke's Wife then she will be either seen only in flashbacks or as a force ghost yeah?

The age FITS the timeline of Luke's Wife/Reys mum. She doesn't need to be Luke's age NOW... She needs to be close to Luke's age at the time of the attack on the Temple.

 

She will most probably be Luke's wife.

I don't think Rey is Luke's daughter.

Luke is in his early fifties in TFA, Laura Dern is 49. There will be no more flashbacks in VIII.

 

No one is saying she is Luke's wife/Rey's mother just because of the color of her hair. There is a clearly a plot thread for an interesting backstory to be told about Rey's family. Especially if she is Luke's daughter like appears to be the case, then a backstory concerning the mother clearly is begging for a story thread. At this point we are putting 2 and 2 together based on what the story gave us in the last movie.

Not unlike the Oscar winning Academy Award winning actress that played Maz.

She's not Luke's wife. She's not Rey's mom.

 

Count me in with those who hope she is/was Luke's wife. My little EU heart just wants it, I can't help it.

But I'm not going to be mad if it turns out she's not.

Interesting that they cast her, not the expected choice, I have to say. I enjoyed a lot of her film and tv work.

I'm about 80% sure she's Luke's Wife/Significant Other. I like her as an actress as well, her performance in "Jurassic Park" is still very memorable. Happy she's joined the Star Wars Family.

 

Watch, she'll wind up being Han Solo's first wife. Doubtful, but one heck of a plot twist.

Also not the big bad's apprentice, cause that's Ben. Female Yoda? Nope, Maz. Old Leia? Not in a million years. Love interest for the young leads? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease.
