I hated Nien Numb at first but love him now.
When I was a kid watching ROTJ I was like "Who the hell is this sitting in the Millenium Falcon!"

Salacious Crumb does at excellent job at being irritating too!

Mas Amedda gets my downvote in the PT. Too smug in ROTS to Bail Organa: "Very well. He will be expecting you". No wonder he's not in the OT - someone probably punched his lights out (maybe Vader!).

I'd also have to go with Han. I like him at times, but his sarcasm mode just really grates on me.

But my least favorite character is in the EU... And I've never read anything later in the timeline than Heir to the Empire, but Mara Jade in that book is exactly the kind of character that I dislike the most in all of fiction. Someone who refuses to see reality because they have a chip on their shoulder. Ugh if I never had to endure that trope again it would be too soon. I know she ends up going through a transformation, but so far I haven't been able to bring myself to read past that book for a number of reasons.

I want to say Jar Jar, but he's peripheral enough that I can ignore him. I'd say my least favorite character is a tie between Episode 1 Anakin and Episode 2 & 3 Anakin.

Han Solo definitely sucks the most, for a few reasons.

Probably Boss Nass, Jar Jar, and Wat Tambor.

Aside from these secondary and tertiary characters, I'm not a fan of Padme (TPM) or Han Solo (ROTJ).

I don't mind Padme in subsequent films, and I love Han in ANH and ESB.

For Padme in TPM, I felt like she just lacked chemistry with all characters and seemed bored and unenthusiastic in virtually every line. Only at the very end when she smiles does she seem to have any kind of humanity.

For Han, I felt like they reduced him from a character with personality to being overly concerned with Leia - where she was and the state of her well being - for nearly all of ROTJ. The man goes into cabonite with his last works being a smug remark to Leia's feelings, and when he comes out he's neutered.

The same can be said for Leia though too. I loved her in ANH and she still had much of the same personality in ESB, but by ROTJ she seems devoid of the same kind of feistiness.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Han and Leia relationship as depicted in ROTJ.

Although Han is my least favorite character, I never thought of "I know" as being smug. I actually think it's a rather sweet thing to say. He's been trying to get her to admit her feelings for him throughout the whole movie, which she finally does just as he's about to be put into carbon freeze. When he says "I know", he's acknowledging that he knew how she felt the whole time with the implication that he feels the same way. That's why I think it's his best moment... because he's being tender, not because he's being cool.

That's how I took it. If a man responded to me with "I know" after I said "I love you," using the same tone that Han did there...I'd melt.

As far as his sarcasm mode, that's what I love most about him.

Jar-Jar was supposed to be mildly annoying. That I feel is the essential point of his being included. The purpose of Anakin on the other hand is not to be annoying, and yet he is, very much so in fact.

Han's personality really does change a lot in ROTJ. I always get the impression that Harrison didn't really want to be there. He seems less sarcastic and roguish and more smarmy. Does that make sense?

I watched ROTS the other night and for the first time General Grievous really annoyed me. I always though that it took great skill and self-control of a Jedi-like nature to wield a lightsabre proficiently and yet here's this CGI monstrosity flinging multiple weapons about all over the place. I've previously been fairly ambivalent towards the General, but today I hate him! :p

I know this is least favourite star wars characters but I have to defend Han characterization in ROTJ. I thought it was well done and at te time a brilliant end to his arc, seeing a mature grown up Han who selfishly decides to help others, heck he even did what Anakin couldn't do and let people and think of other people's feelings (in regards to Leia). I'm for one am glad that Han didn't die especially after the ending of TESB and then later the prequels. It gives the whole happy ever after ending they were intending for.
