Australia is a country of 7, 741, 220 km^2, with over 20 and a half million people, a capital city of Canberra, with a history of being a penal colony and has over 102.7 million sheep (5 per person)

New Zealand is a country of 268, 680 km^2, with over 4 million people, a capital city of Wellington, was originally administered by New South Wales and has almost 40 million sheep (10 per person)

Both are former British colonies and close neighbours who share much in common, including a love of Sport which has seen many classic battles in many sports, including Rugby League, Rugby Union, Cricket, Netball, Soccer, Basketball and Lawn Bowls to name a few.

This Thread is to discuss this great international sporting rivalry in its past and its future.

Coming Up - the Tri-Nations Rugby League Final.

Now England have gone home its time for the real match - Australia vs. New Zealand

Australia is the reigning champion, but have injury problems, whilst New Zealand is looking good.

You might like to check your facts again.

The Kiwis beat the Aussies in the last tri-nations series final 24-0

And your sheep numbers are out of date. I'm almost certain Australia now has more sheep per capita than NZ.

    All Apologies[face_blush]

Edit. Actually, both nations sheep numbers have dropped, especially in Australia due to our prolonged drought. This website says Sheep outnumber people 12 to 1 in New Zealand, whilst this one says there is only about 100 million sheep in Australia (still 5 per head)

Dunno what happened to our union team, they've sucked since the last World Cup. But still, 2 wins + 1 second > 1 win + 1 second

Crap. I hate golden point - there should at least be 10 minutes each way before any sudden death.

Good game, Aussie, always nice when it's close...

    Ya ********.

Gotta agree with you there jp. It takes a lot of the play out in that become a game of hit-ups to get you the farthest down the field for either a try or shot at goal. There's no play for position or having to hold on to a fluke score.

All Black season's over. I recall watching All Black rugby in the USA - just had to find the right cable station, or head down to an english pub with satellite.

The only good thing from that is that Clark is now in. :D :D :D

Since all cricket games are now over before the World Cup, we should really create its own thread. It's bigger than just NZ and Aus. :p

Yeah, we're talking about icons & banners and such, but I guess it's close enough to start up a new thread dedicated to the WC. I'd suggest Kyp do it, but as he's sporting those South African colours as a tribute to their new #1 ranking I can't quite bring myself to suggest it...
