Here is a sample menu http://www.shababrestaurants.co.uk

But I'm sure they could rustle something up (um, no offence but you do actually like to be able to taste your food?)

    The Cockpit sounds good[face_dancing]
The restaurants look good too- as long as they do good, imaginative veggie stuff (i.e. not the usual vegetable cannelloni or any of that rubbish) I'll be happy

I get this question all the time.

My taste buds are perfectly refined, thank you :p I just have an unusual tolerance for hot food. E.g York, where I ate jalepeno chillis, covered in chilli sauce, for my culinary enjoyment.

Hmm. The word 'masochist' springs to mind!! he he :)

If you are ever down that way, the Ganges restaurant in Plymouth (Barbican) does an amazing Phal (according to my Dad who has similar culinary tendencies, but really only to show off).

Yes, eating Phal is 50% showing off, 50% liking hot food. [face_laugh]

Could you buy a vindaloo then add your own chilli powder to it?

Possibly. The thing with that is, if its the same chilli/curry powder already used, it might not actually increase the hotness :p

And besides, I buy vindaloos in my hometown all the time, and I'm perfectly happy eating them. I do enjoy the taste of any curry, and on occasions I go back to eating Jalfrezi's, Pathias and even Chicken Tikka Masala's depending on mood. At uni I was an avid Phal eater, 'cos I was always competing with my housemate on who could eat the most of it without dying (I won BTW [face_dancing] ).

I'd like to say I'm a curry fan first, a spice freak second ;)

I ate a phal once - was an experience I plan never to repeat lol

Hmm, a vindaloo is good for flu - used to eat them a lot but now a wuzz.

Indian is probably my favourite food, after pizza that is.

Is there anyone who doesn't like curry and is attending the meet? Voice your feelings now, since it looks like curry is on the menu. I had the real thing in India, homemade rotis hehe :p

    So which weekend?

So it's looking like curry rather than Las Iguanas then? [face_mischief]

Hmmmm...which weekend? I can't really do the first 2 in Oct so latter halfs would be better for me....

Just a thought- there's a new thread about a Halloween w/end...just thought I'd mention it in case of a clash of dates! The later half of Oct is better for me too.

hey "other" spike, you be careful with your curry habit

I once knew two unfortunate drug addicts who were down on their luck start injecting Curry Powder, 1 ended up with a bad Tikka, the other fell into a Korma

General consensus so far says ruby murray, I cling to that since it's more than I ever got out of them at such a pre-planning stage. Maybe we need a woman in charge of here :p With this lot, you never quite know where we will end up though hehe.

So are we looking at -

    October

    (Sat) 21 / 22 (Sun)
    (Sat) 28 / 29 (Sun)

Those dates ok for your ladyship, Miss Tethys? :p
The second weekend (28/29th) up there is the London MCM Expo ( http://www.londonexpo.com/ ), not sure if anyone is planning to visit that. I'll leave both open, so it fits round you :)

If we do the second proposed date, like suzijedi says, we have the Halloween issue, which btw is on a Tuesday this year. What do we do about that?

    Hmmm.

I may be in Scotland on those dates, so I may not make it :(

21st Oct looks good to me right now - me thinks better to keep that Halloween weekend free...its a while off yet though, but if we are trying to get some concensus...?

I ran this by the family, 21st is definitely the day we go to Scotland. I'm not feeling too enthusiastic about the trip tbh, especially after what happened after the last trip, but we'll see.
