Lift Tubes, Lower Level- Fool?s Gamble

Climbing down the access ladder, the multi-purpose utility droid quickly made his way back to the ship?s main level. He exited the tube and laying right to the side of the tube were the supplies and parts Mr. Kraid had told him about. Good. S2 reached down, fetched some wiring and the replacement panel, took the appropriate tools from his tool sack and then went to work on the lift tube controls.

    Corridor and Lounge- Fool?s Gamble

Exiting the ?fresher and wiping his still slightly damp hands on his pants, Vrono wrinkled his nose at the sound of work being done down in the engine room. How annoying, but it had to be done, he imagined. Thankfully, he was well rested after a nap or two waiting for the others to return. The last time, he had been exploring the gun pods when, feeling rather comfortable in its seat, he dozed off. Apparently, while he had been up there, Wyl and the others had gotten back. Now it was just a matter of finding? The Chiss paused, hearing a familiar voice nearby over the noise in the engine room. Wyl! Shortly thereafter, a human emerged for the crew bunkroom and made his way into the corridor, absorbed into his conversation.

    ?Wyl!?

Wyl spun on his heels at the sound of his name. At first, the blue face seemed to come from a dream, and it took him a moment to realize what he was seeing. Was that...?

Wyl grabbed Vrono in an embrace tighter than a dianoga's. "How've you been, buddy?!"

The Chiss returned Lorrka?s embrace, smiling broadly before stepping back and looking his old friend over at arms? length. ?Well, as of the last few hours, well rested and well fed. Has anyone said anything about how nice the ship looks now?? he asked curiously, wondering if anyone had commented on his studious work.

"Er..." Wyl stammered, unsure what the Chiss was referring to, "No. I mean, we've been busy. So...you came all the way to to this ball of sand to talk to me??

Vrono shook his head. Of course?business. ?Yeah? the Imperials were checking me out on Denon and asking around about you. Just what?s going on, Wyl??

"Well," Wyl shook his head, "it was the play."

    ?Play??

"Yeah, the one about the...you know...the political one? The one I opened on Naboo?"

?Hmm, I think I remember you mentioning something about it the last time we worked together,? the Chiss commented as he thought back, scratching his chin. ?But that?s been a year or two? or however long it?s been since I left Coruscant. So you finally got around to writing it, eh? What was so wrong about it that it chafed the Imps backsides??

"It was..." He sighed. It was a dumb move. It was too soon to parody. It was a silly thing to write. "It was an allegory...about what happens when people trust the Sith. When we lost the war, well...that pretty much left me karked."

?So what?re you going to do now??

"I don't know...jump ship? Stay here and find alternate transport?" Wyl slumped against a bulkhead. "I tried to get in touch with that Ryn friend of mine, back when we were buying parts, but...he's unreachable. But you know Ryn, always on the move. I guess I should never have assumed he'd be in the same place. What are you up to?"

Vrono shrugged his shoulders. ?I?m on the move myself, I guess. With the Imps investigating things on Denon, I can?t go back there, especially if they get in contacted with some of the people I?er, ?worked?. I took some holos of the little creatures that were lying around the ship when I cleaned them up, so I?m sure someone might be interested in those. Other than that? who knows? There?s enough conflict and suffering on this planet alone to make for some good shots. Maybe I?ll stick around here a bit.?

Just then, a commotion came from the direction of the Cargo Bay. Looking down, a group appeared down there? several humans, a twi?lek and?a Givin?

?Who?re they?? Vrono whispered, sidling up towards Wyl. ?The crew??

"Yes sir, the crew." Wyl nodded, regarding t

After departing the ship, The Captain made his way to one of the local terminals in the docking bay and, from there, managed to find the location of the Police station in Mos Eisley. With that information printed down on a piece of flimsiplast, he made his back to the Police hover truck and made his way through the silent city streets, lit by the occasional street lamp and the light of Tatooine?s moons above. Within five minutes, he made it to the street on which the station was located. Not wanting to get too close as he could see Officers returning from the battle on the opposite end of the street, Jav parked the hover truck a few buildings down from the station, got out and deftly made his way into the shadows, disappearing into the night. Even if anyone has saw him, all they would have actually seen was the ghostly figure of a Givin fleeing from the seen.

The next two weeks were incredibly busy for the crew of the Fool?s Gamble. Leading the repair operation, Kraid, Yalinni (who had been sent by Yar?sha to help repair the ship, free of charge, after the Yuuzhan Vong had been contacted by Wyl), Aden, S2, the Captain, Sinya, occasionally Ryelee and anyone else with skill and a free hand, went about replacing, rewiring and refurbishing the battered VT-49. It was long, tedious work, but with the help they had, the weeks seemed to fly by.

Ryelee himself had reappeared late on the crew?s first night in Eisley, having gotten himself lost and leaving his comm. on the ship. When not helping with repairs or computer work on the ship, he would disappear into the city for hours at a time, hanging out with and playing with some of the local kids. Azul had ended up spending most of the night at Peras? Pharmacy until the end of the curfew and was found at the Ho?din?s green house just about every day, studying to improve her medical skills.

After the battle between the Tuskens and the Jawas had managed to die down shortly after sundown, the police began immediately to put up temporary emplacements over the breach in the city?s wall and ended the curfew at sunrise. Thankfully for the crew of the Gamble, it seemed as though no one had been aware of their antics around the city, despite stories that were circulating on the streets of the disappearing and reappearing hover truck.

Besides repairs, things were most hectic for Captain Boran. By their second day in Eisley, he received word from Vespar?s people that they had indeed found the info on Ryelee?s bounty and that the Captain and his crew were free from suspicion, though there would be immediate retribution in store for Crandon. After that came occasional attempts by Aden to discuss the price of his trip, but the Captain would merely smile and tell him that they?d discuss it closer to when they were going to depart. His final ancillary task came in the first week?s payment of his crew. After deducting the cost of parts, cost of living, medical expenses and the like, each member of the crew received 1355 credits. It wasn?t much, but Jav promised them that after business picked up a little and the ship didn?t need constant repairs, their pay WOULD increase. However, there was a side-effect to his crew?s payday as, shortly afterwards, there was no sign to be seen of Leland Kordt. After a week of waiting and trying to contact him, they figured it was a lost cause and that he had jumped ship.

Speaking of departures, after spending a week hanging around the ship with Wyl, occasionally going out to snap pictures of the fighting in the desert or just nap in his hotel room, Mittorv?rono?lasto, otherwise known as Vrono to the crew, made his departure from Tatooine to parts unknown, promising most definitely to stay in touch with Wyl as the young human traveled with the mercenary crew. Perhaps there was a potential story there somewhere. Before leaving, however, the Chiss had the entire crew gather outside the ship and snapped a holo of them. Veers and his men, of course, declined to appear, lest evidence of their travels and presence on Tatooine get out should th

    Fool's Gamble

Zem and Erik were outside ontop of the Fool's Gamble welding some panels back into place after Kraid had finished repairing a few parts and connections when they had both noticed the local authorities enter the hanger. Zem tried to comm Jav about them but he wasn't answering his comlink. He figured it was due to the fact that someone was watching the holonews too loudly and he couldn't hear his own comlink going off.

Zem pulled his goggles up onto his head as the authorties just marched right up the ramp; "Bold aren't they?" he commented to Erik.

"Or stupid," the young stormtrooper medic replied. "I wonder what they want?"

"Dunno. Don't want to find out. Lets just get back to welding these panels back in place before Kraid chews us out for being behind schedule." Zem replied and the two Imperials resumed their work, but the Colonel kept an eye and ear out for trouble.

    IC: Captain Jav Boran
The Office of the Governor- Mos Entha- Tatooine

If Mos Eisley was Tatooine?s hive of scum and villainy, the Mos Entha was its crown jewel hidden in the sand. Four 500 meter tall domed spaceport hubs dominated the cityscape. So it was said, everything from government offices to hotels to shopping centers and museums were located in the hubs. A touch of civilized life in an uncivilized environment. Other than them, Entha looked like the typical Tatooinian city with swoop bike, Rontos and the whole deal. Looking out the viewport of the shuttle, Jav was quite impressed that the people of Tatooine had managed to maintain such a city, now walled much like Mos Eisley, in these conditions. In fact, after the death of Jabba the Hutt over one and a quarter of a century before, Entha had taken much of its sister city?s prominence and air traffic until Eisley?s expansion a few decades ago. It was quite the metropolis that was Bestine, but it was still quite impressive.

After three or so minutes of entering the city, the shuttle the police officers had ?escorted? him onto back in Eisley to transport him here. They hadn?t said a word to him since they left, leaving him in an awkward silence. He wasn?t in binders, but for all intensive purposes he was their prisoner. At the behest of the Officers? stun batons, Jav departed the shuttle first upon landing into the hot Tatooine sun. They said the Governor of Tatooine was a female Whiphid by the name of Valarian. Back in the days of the Galactic Civil War, she was a crimelord who at the time was known as ?Lady? Valarian, having come in prominence on the planet during the Yuuzhan Vong conflict. She had become the planet?s Governor after the death of her predecessor in 75 ABY and had managed to bring it?s settlements into an age of prosperity. Police Officers returned to the streets of Tatooine?s cities, the Hutts influence was significantly lessened and some semblance of order was brought to the scum and villainy, bring the planet to an almost respectable status in the Outer Rim until the Tusken-Jawa war began. Apparently, you could learn quite a bit from a talkative bartender if you bought enough drinks.

Of a figure like Lady Valarian, Jav expected that he?d be taken to a Casino, Cantina or some private estate, but instead he and his escorts entered one of the spaceport hubs and the government offices in its upper levels. There, he was shown in a modern-looking office decorated in various shades of red, with various strange pieces of artwork placed around in an effort to bring some character to the otherwise spartan room and behind a desk at its center sat the hulk of an aging woman, a Whiphid with curly gray locks, tan fur and pale skin. She looked up from the reams of flimsiplast and piles of datapads on her desk and waved the Duros towards a chair on the opposite side of her desk before dismissing the police officers.

?So you are Captain Jav Boran of the Fool?s Gamble, a VT-49 Decimator currently undergoing repairs in Mos Eisley Docking Bay 91?? She inquired, though by the tone of her voice it was all to obvious she was merely saying all this to prove to the Captain how much she was aware of. Setting down the datapad in her hand, Valarian looked down and flicked a small fuzzball off her violet and gold-trimmed vest before meeting Jav?s eyes. ?Can I get you anything to drink? Water, perhaps? Or would you prefer a Dobri Whiskey? I hear you?re quite fond of them.?

?So, we?ve established that you seem to know quite a bit about me, Governor,? the Duros replied, trying to stay cool in the tense situation. ?I assume you didn?t just bring me here for a drink and a friendly chat. What can I do for you??

Picking up a datapad from her pile, Valarian reached across the desk and handed it to Jav. He took it with a nod and activated it, but what he saw surprised him. On the pad?s small screen was a surveillance recording? of him in the streets of Mos Eisley two weeks ago. Shortly thereafter, another recording began, one of the interior of a Polic

"Fool's Gamble, you say?" Jasen thought about the offer. This could be a new beginning for himself. A fresh start, and if what Drasius said about the captian was true, things we're going to be looking up for him. He hadn't exaclty ever met a kind Duros in his life, but this Captian Jav fellow sounded as if he was the best species on this side of the galaxy according to Kuze. Then again, he might be strecthing the truth to try and get him to join the crew. What else did he have going for himself?

His last job he worked as on a Corellian smuggling freighter. He was their "official protecter" according to them. But, when the group began to making dealings with the Sith, Jasen high-tailed it out of that contract. Nothing good can ever come from the Sith. Or the Jedi for that matter. Because we're there are Jedi, Sith bound to be around the corner.

"Ah come one, Sunshine!" Drasius called him by his much hated nickname. "What do you have to loose? Huh? Nothing."

"Alright, alright. I'll join the Fool's Gamble, okay? Just don't call me Sunshine." Jasen replied to his old friend over the holo. Drasius grinned.

"Of course not, you won't regret this I promise..." And with the closing statement, his old friend ended the holofeed. Jasen fell into his chair, glancing outside and saw the Nar Shadda skyline from his hotel room. He would be making his trip to Tatooine, docking in Mos Eisley and meeting up with the crew there. Things would be okay. A new beginning.

    *****

Jasen Jalevan stepped off of the transport that had brought him from Nar Shadda to the Mos Eisely spaceport. With one hand, Jasen held on to his backpack and felt the heat beating down on him from Tatooines two suns.

"Eh, great. We better not stay on his rock for to long. It's too hot." Jasen complained to himself. He glanced at his flimiplast again, looking at the directions he had copied down from Drasius. On Jasen's contract it stated that he was a merc/pilot. He wasn't enterily sure which the Captian wanted him to do more of, but he was highly skilled with both.

Coming up on the VT-49 called the "Fool's Gamble", he noticed that a couple of people where working on its hull. Looked as if they were just preparing to leave. In the corner of his eye, he noticed two of the local officers with stun batons, and neither seemed to happy.

Jasen decieded to wait, remaining against a wall. By the looks of things, it didn't seem to well. He would wait and see what was going to happen. If they were coming for this Captian Jav Boron, this might make a great oppurinity to prove his loyality to him by hopefully helping him out of a jam. If the two officers took him, he would follow and help the Captian if need be.

Then the officers escorted the Duros to his vechile and took off in one direction. He needed to follow them somehow. But how? Jasen had managed to hitch a ride and pay them enough credits to keep their distance, but follow the speeder the Captian was in. The trip took longer than Jasen thought, taking them all the way to Mos Entha. The officers escorted his new captian into the Governor's building.

"Thank you for the ride, is 500 credits enough?" he asked the Rodian he took the ride from.

"Make it 600." He held out his hand. Jasen rolled his eyes, giving the alien his amount. Jasen turned, eyeing the building knowing that there was no way of getting in without being noticed. So, he decieded he would wait outside. He would be able to tell if things got to heated inside, and would then come inside.

"Oh the life and adventure of yours truely," Jasen sighed leaning up against the building across from the Governers.

    IC: Ryelee
    Somewhere in Mos Eilsey- Tatooine.

One thing Ryelee would never understand about himself was his uncanny ability of wriggling himself out of tight spots. Always. Proof was in his current situation: he had been lost for hours, ended up playing ball with some kids, and now, with the curfew on, Officers walking around, tiered and in the eeriest darkness, he had managed and just knew he was in the right way back to the ship.

The boy crouched, hidden in the shadows and waiting patiently. Before his little ball match with his newfound friends, he had busied himself with gathering information about the current situations in Mos Eisley. His findings had not been good.

With the Jawas and the Tuskens in war, the situation was anything but easy, making it even harder for him to find his way back home.

?Home? thought the boy, a smile forming in his mouth. Not a smirk or a mischief ridden grin, but a small, happy smile.

With that thought he turned down another corner, the Fool?s Gamble coming into his line of sight.

    Pheras? House, Mos-Eisley. Tatooine.

Ten minutes after talking with S2, Azul was still sitting in the same place, staring at the wall thoughtfully. She wasn?t worried about Ryelee, just as she had told the droid, he was a resourceful little guy. She however, was hoping he would comm her sometime tonight telling her he was all right. He would comm, that was for sure, but she honestly didn?t want to sneak around Tatooine to go save his little butt from whatever problem he had gotten himself into.

She had accepted Pheras? offer in hopes she would end up being more helpful as a medic. She would be damned if she allowed another death.

Rubbing her temples tiredly, Azul looked around once more, ice coloured eyes inspecting every inch of the room she was in; she liked the place. Standing up she stretched, cracking her fingers before starting to tie her auburn locks in a braid. Her eyes focused on the papers scattered on the table before her, before nimble hands ordered them swiftly. Enough studying for tonight.

    IC: Aden Kya, Fools Gamble

Making sure Li was asleep, Aden headed to check with Wyl on those couplings under the bridge. The connections had been difficult, as something seemed to be causing the surge protectors to cut power to the bridge. Aden had removed a faulty component responsible for the door's automatically opening - of all things - which had been interrupting the feed with spikes. Hopefully that would finish things off.

Heading to the engine room, he couldn't find Wyl or Kraid, and turned about, snaking down one of the access tubes that Jav had opened to speed up the repairs. As Aden's booted feet landed on the sand below, Aden jumped.

    ?Captain Jav Boran!?

The call was so sharp and authoritive that Aden rolled away from the bottom of the ship and sidled up behind one of the landing struts, watching as the Duros Captain was led away. He narrowed his eyes, and swiping sand away from his nose absently.

The Captain was gone. Not good. They had to go after him, no doubt.

He went to head back up the ramp, and he heard the Imperials talking amongst themselves. Their accents were unmistakable for Aden, having been an Imperial Knight. He'd managed to avoid talking to any of them during the past two weeks, preferring to get them isolated before he spoke to them. It was easier on him, and so he'd used Li as an excuse to avoid the communal meals. He had no doubt, however, that Kraid had commented on him to the others after their falling out.

Aden ran inside the ship as he watched Jav lead away to one of the other shuttles, darting to the bridge. Muttering prayers to the Emperor, he slapped a few buttons and tweaked the sensors, hoping nothing would blow in the ship. After a splutter and hum, the sensors picked up the shuttle and discovered the direction; Mos Entha. Curious. Downloading the sensor readings, including the Duros' escort to the shuttle, to a pad, he yanked it free and ran back.

Climbing upto the top of the ship from the inside tube, his feet clanging loudly on the rungs, Aden poked his head up. Clearing his throat, he waved, hoping to keep his Imperial inflection out of his voice. "Hey, guys, the Captain's gone. Not sure where, but those officers took him away, and looks like he's gone to Mos Entha. Are we in trouble?"

Aden kept his voice neutral, there, trying not to leak more than the necessary concern. He didn't want to be found by the Empire, Sith or in exile, and he had no doubt that an official report would find it's way into someone's hands.

    Kraid Tynne
    Captain's quarters, Fool's Gamble

The final clang of Kraid's hammer echoed out, and Kraid stood back to admire his handiwork. A new fresher for the Captain after the old one was shot up and chewed up after the Remloch incident, except this one wasn't intended to fit where it was. Consequently, it needed a lot of persuading to be installed.

"Guess I have a bit more respect for the guys that design these things," Kraid muttered to himself.

Kraid made his way to the bridge and took a seat in on of the chairs and pulled out a datapad where he had outlined all of the work that needed to be done. Finally, practically everything was crossed off on the list. He had the Imps - er, his outstanding shipmates doing some final work above deck. He just finished with the Captain's fresher, and now he was just waiting for the main ship's computer to finish it's massive diagnostic and get the green light letting him know that there wasn't anything else gooned up. Kraid was rather confident that the ship was ready for flight after the diagnostic; the engine and flight control ground tests were successful, and he had been running diagnostic after diagnostic since the repairs started.

He turned on a viewscreen to check the status. A few more hours before this one was done. This final diagnostic was always the most painful one, taking forever as it went through everything on the ship. Kraid then sat up and swore to himself. Someone was playing with the sensors earlier. How many times did he have to tell the crew that no one was to touch the ship's controls while this main and final diagnostic was running? Thankfully, the sensors hadn't been checked out yet so whoever used them didn't mess anything up. Kraid would let this one slide. He leaned back in the chair and gazed at the viewscreen as it continued to spit out the analysis.

    Tatooine, Mos Eisley, Spaceport Hotel

Millik pulled out the power pack to check and make sure that it was still charged. The last time Millik had checked - exactly two weeks ago after his agreement with Jav - the pack had plenty of charge and this check came up with the same results. Satisfied, Millik slapped the power pack back into the 434 blaster pistol before holstering it at his side. He hoped that he wouldn't have to unholster the blaster anytime soon cause of any life-threatening causes.

Or the other item that was on the table with Millik's jacket. The ex-Jedi picked up the fake hydrospanner and opened up the compartment in the hilt to expose the Adegan crystal locked safely away within it. Millik allowed himself to stare at the blue crystal, wondering if it was a good idea to keep the crystal in the lightsaber. He had rejected the idea of placing the crystal back on his flask as certain members of the crew in Millik's ride off this planet may know what the crystal is and he doubted that the excuse of it being a souveneir or some sort like that would be able to stop any suspicion fly his way. That damned crystal had already caused him a bit of trouble.

Not for the first time did Millik now question about keeping the crystal, and the lightsaber, in the first place. He had argued that his lightsaber would give him a much better chance of survival if he ran into problems then just the blaster, but it would defeat the purpose if those problems came because of the crystal. Besides, wasn't he trying to forget about his past life on Ossus?

Shaking his head, Millik closed the compartment and clipped the fake hydrospanner onto his belt with the rest of his tools. He was just going to have to be careful like he always had been. Well, a lot more careful then he has been lately.

With his gear in place, Millik picked up his jacket and put it on over the rest of his clothes, effectively putting the last of his posessions that he had onto his person. The two week deadline has passed, and Millik supposed that he may as well head over to Jav's ship and get it over with. The sooner he was off this planet and flying off to another corner of the galaxy, the better. With that in mind, Millik exited his room and soon the hotel as he walked towards the hangar to the ship.

"When are we not in trouble?" he half joked and cocked an eyebrow curiously at the man. He had seen him only once before upon their return to the ship. He recalled the man had a child with him and said child wasn't with him at the moment.

"If the Captain's in trouble, he would have let us know before they took him away, I think. Why? You some Jedi or Knight or something sensing trouble?" His tone of voice said he wasn't being serious with his question.

The man seemingly spoke for the entire group, and that made Aden even more curious. He didn't recognise the speaker, but was sure he'd seen him before or even during the war. Some function, no doubt, that his father had forced him to attend.

He forced an amused smile as the hairs on the back of his neck rose in alarm at the joke, responding with equal portions of humour. "Oh I don't know. A bunch of us recently stole a speeder belonging to the authorities. I haven't had any contact with the authorities other than volunteering to help out, and I'm pretty sure the Captain didn't do anything of the sort. So they're not thanking him for his contributions, are they?"

The ex-Imperial Knight wished he had the Force to read this man's mind. Then, it occured to him that maybe this guy wouldn't remember him. The last time they'd met, Aden was pretty sure the man was drunk. "Aden, by the way. My boy's name is Li."

He deliberately avoided using his surname, mentally cursing himself for even giving it away. His father was an Imperial Admiral and a Moff. The rest of his family was probably scattered in Tapani Sector or Mandalore Sector. The only Kya's an Imperial - and Aden was sure he was Imperial - would have heard of were from the Empire's elite.

Let's try and find out if they're Krayt's, Fel's or rogue, shall we, before we inform them that we betrayed the Empire and tried to kill the Emperor?

He shrugged his shoulders before walking over to a ladder propped against the Gamble and climbing down.

Climbing out of the tube onto the top of the Gamble while this Zem wiped his hands. His sand-covered robes flapped in a gust, and Aden reached out a hand in return. Erik and Zem. It rang no bells, at least.

Aden decided that the truth was better than anything. The more truth he used, the easier he could lie. He silently cursed himself. Before he was confident enough to lie outright. Did losing the Force make things that much harder? "Before boarding the Gamble? I recognise you from somewhere, but I'm not too sure, I must say. Ever wandered into the Rim between Orinda and Dubrillion? I used to mostly work around in that area."

So around the Imperial worlds, but not the mainstream Empire. Other members of the crew knew he had a past in the Empire, but where and how wasn't known. No mention of the war, for now. Aden then frowned for a moment, too curious for his own good. "What of the Imperial Knights? I hear there's a few of them about still. I've never seen one of those. Jedi or Sith, yeah, but there were loads of those."

Sighing quietly to himself, Jav stuck his hands into his pants pockets as the police officers escorted him out of the building and back towards the docking bay. What a situation? They had figured because they had been unseen by any sentient eyes that day two weeks ago that they were free and clear. Boy were they wrong! Of course, how were they to know there were apparently cameras hidden out and about throughout the city. And now they were being forced into a war they had or wanted no part in. Boy was the crew going to love this?

Jasen leaned up against the wall across the Governers building with his eyes closed. Jasen guessed he had misread the situation and his new boss and Captian hadn't really been in trouble at all. Yet, time would tell. Jasen opened his eyes to see his Duros captian once again being escorted to the docking bays. With his hands in his pockets, Jasen guessed everything was alright.

"Jav! Captian Boron!" Jasen called out, walking up to the three men on their way to the docking bay. He noticed the two gaurds reaching for the stun batons.

"Whoa there. I just need to speak with the Captian here, no harm in that." Jasen tried telling them. They didn't really believe him. They both looked at the captian.

"I'm Jaleven. Jasen Jaleven. You just hired me for the crew. I saw these two take you off the Gamble and figured you needed some help. Guess I figured wrong." Jasen smiled.

    The Imperials

    Fool's Gamble

"Use to work at the capital," Zem vaguely answered and then shook his head. His answer could mean Coruscant or Bastion depending on how one interperated his next words. "That was before my employer was forced to relocate his business elsewhere. I can't say I've ever done any work in that sector recently though."

Zem heard a clatter behind him and he turned to glance back at his subordinate. The young man had dropped his torch upon hearing them speak about the area near the Braxant Run and the Imperial Knights. Veers returned his attention back to the man before him. "Told you before, don't mind the Knights that much at least they don't kill everyone who ticks them off for no reason."

He was curious now, of this man who claimed to have worked near the Empire's old territory before it finally reconquered its rightful place as the galactic government. This man who seemed to have an unhealthy interest in the Imperial Knights themselves. If he worked for Krayt and one of the others had told him that they were Imperials...

Zem narrowed his eyes slightly; "You're not one of those hired bounty hunters are you? If you are, you're barking up the wrong wroshyr tree, friend. Got enough trouble already, don't need none of Emperor Krayts goons sniffing around here looking for Loyalists and Knights and causing chaos while at it."

The Duros? eyes widened when the man approached both he and the Police Officers and introduced himself as Jasen Jelavan. So he had managed to follow them all the way here from Eisley? Resourceful. ?Well, you?re not hired yet but this is certainly a step in the right direction,? Jav said with a smirk before turning to the police officers behind him. ?Since he?s here, would you gentlemen mind transporting him back to Mos Eisley with us? He?s going with me and I promise he?ll be well behaved. It?s not like you don?t know where we?re staying anyway if we cause trouble.?

Looking at each other, the Officer on the right stepped forward, his hand on his stun baton. ?Yeah, we?ll take you back with us, but if you have any weapons on your person, please hand them over now. If we then find you clean after a pat down, we?ll escort you to our shuttle with Captain Boran, Mr. Jelavan.?

    Two add two makes four.

Zem looked back on the clatter, and Aden followed his eyes. His friend seemed to have dropped the torch when Aden mentioned that area. Guilty conscience? Aden was suspicious of these people instantly - he may have lost the Force, but the Imperial Knights had long been trained in detective work as an arm of the law. They knew how to put two and two together, and even Aden knew there was something up. He half-expected Zem to go on the offensive after this...

"You're not one of those hired bounty hunters are you? If you are, you're barking up the wrong wroshyr tree, friend. Got enough trouble already, don't need none of Emperor Krayts goons sniffing around here looking for Loyalists and Knights and causing chaos while at it."

Aden managed to look mildly offended. In-fact, he was incredibly insulted, but not surprised. Still wondering about which capital Zem was referring to, Aden answered back, curious as to why the man had jumped so far in his thought patterns. Were these guys with Fel? He knew they had an Imperial past, with those accents, and they obviously disliked Sith, and Emperor Krayt. One way to find out.

"A little paranoid, aren't we?" Aden snorted, none to delicately. "I wouldn't work for Emperor Krayt if he was the last man alive. Nor 'Emperor' Fel. I have nothing to with either Empire as long as there are Sith in one and Fel's in the other. It suits me fine if they kill each other. The Empire was a better place before Roan Fel jumped on the throne and screwed things up."

The ex-Imperial Knight tried to rein in his anger, but threw up a hand and turned back to the tube. "I'm worried about the Captain. If you're worried about Krayt so much, then imagine what will happen when the local governor reports to the Imperials about this ship. I know governments. They report everything, even if it's novel. If this ship has been in trouble, then who you've wronged will be on their way sooner rather than later."

His voice was rising, and though he managed to keep it even, he failed to notice his own Imperial accent crawling into his speech. Aden went to step down the tube, throwing his head back at them. "Well? Are we going to do something about the Captain being detained or not?"

His anger was such that he hadn't even tried to handle it delicately. The others knew his surname. If Zem was Imperial, and heard the name 'Aden Kya', then he'd probably figure him out. Sure, the Imperial HoloNet had kept his actions off the air for fear of damaging morale, but his father had been an Admiral and a Moff.

    Two add two makes four.

"Well, okay. Umm...hold this." Jasen said as he took his backpack off, which contained his rifle. He handed it to one of the Officers. The Officer sighed as Jasen began his long process. Jasen slowly handed them each of his two hand blasters one at a time, then gave them his other modified blaster. The Officer that was holding every thing had to set all the weapons down.

"Got anything else?" The other officer asked impatiently. Jasen smirked as he pulled out his vibroblade, handing it to the officer.

"That's it." Jasen said as he let one of the officer's pat him down. The officer nodded in approval to the other one. They then proceded to cuff him just like Captian Jav.

"It's just a safety procaution." They explained as they escorted the two back towards the speeder. They began their journey back to Mos Eisely. After they safely made it back to the docking bay of the Fool's Gamble, the two officers un-cuffed both the Captian and Jasen.

"Here is all your weapons back, sir." The officer that searched him laughed as he tossed it all on the ground. He looked at his partner and laughed as they left. Jasen fake laughed back to them, shaking his head as he went to go pick his things up.

"I'm sorry about that, Captian." Jasen began.

The newsnets, this far out on the Rim, were sithspit.

This was, of course, surprising, considering that, for all the talk of Tatooine being a useless and out of the way ball of dust, it almost always ended up a part of galactic events.

Notwithstanding, it would appear that Mos Entha was now the capital, as Bestine had fallen to the Tuskens. There were smatterings and implications of action against nearby towns, but nothing particularly conclusive. Naturally, local journalism wasn't worth as much as local contacts, but since Joli, his Ryn contact, was nowhere. He didn't want to get in touch with the Hutts' people - he didn't have direct contact with any of them, merely through their clans - which left him to try to talk to people in the local cantina, which would take time.

But Jav was gone now. Odd. So what could be deduced? Valarian was a canny woman.

The police officers hadn't put Jav in restraints, nor had they been particularly thuggish - at least, not thuggish as Tatooine police went - so Jav was not in deep trouble. On the other hand, they were police officers, so there was a threat of encarceration. Valerian, then, was demonstrating to Jav that she could throw him in jail for something now if she wanted to - no doubt for the stolen speeder - but she wasn't ready to at the moment. Valerian being a former crime lord, that threat of jail was most likely an ultimatum, which meant she thought Jav could be of use to her somehow. He was a starship captain. This meant that she probably wanted his ship. She wanted him to transport something. In fact, assuming she didn't know Jav before this trip to Tatooine, it was the skills involved in mounting the speeder theft operation that made her think he was useful.

So, Valerian wanted to use Jav for something involving stealth and covert action, and it's not something she wants the police involved in. Given the scant information available on Bestine and the outlying towns - the government's secrecy, that is - the two were related. Jav was going to be asked to use the Gamble to extract something from or bring something to one of those towns.

He was interrupted from his thinking by the little Aleen, Yallini. He didn't seem happy, but he trundled his way up to Wyl, his hand outstretched, a small package in it.

"Yar'sha say give to Jav. He say it maybe useful. Me gonna go. You take. Give Cap'n."

He tossed the little package on the bed next to Wyl and hurried back out. Wyl picked up the package. It was surprisingly heavy. He placed it in his pocket, and went back to checking his datapad.

    Fool's Gamble

Zem raised an eyebrow at him, noticing for the first time the man's accent. With the comments he said along with the accent, not to mention his gate he tried to hide, it wasnt difficult to figure out that this man was an Imperial. "My apologies, you're not a bounty hunter or a Hand. You're much worse than that." He followed after the Imperial. "You're a deserter with the way you spoke of either Empire. Now the question is. Deserter of which Emperor? Krayt? I think not. Not with the way you slandered Roan Fel and where you claimed to have worked."

Erik stood up from his place now and walked over to join Zem at his side.

"Who are you really?" Zem demanded.

"What would I bring to your crew? Well, I'm not trying to brag but I'm just being honest with you Captian...I promise you I can kill or pilot anything you want me too from this side of the galaxy to the next." Jasen smiled. He expected the Duros captian to probably think he was full of himself, just like everyone else in this galaxy. But Jasen honestly believed he could do exaclty what he said.

"I'm loyal to my contracts, sir. As you can already see and you haven't even offically hired me. If you decieded that it was in our best intrests to take on Krayt himself, I'd follow you into our painful, and slow death we would receive from him. Though, again I'll be honest with you Cap...I really hope you don't want to get anywhere near Krayt." Jasen laughed after he had gathered all his things.

He stood beside the Duros, turning to face the Fool's Gamble and smiled.

"If you allow me on, this could be a new beginning for me." Jasen gazed at the ship.

Jav smiled to himself. Yup, he was definitely a Corellian. ?Trust me, my friend, I want as little to do with Krayt as possible,? the Duros said with a chuckle. ?As to how good you are, well? we?ll just see about that won?t we?? The tone in his voice wasn?t accusatory or challenging in any way as he said that. In fact, there was a tone of humor to his voice, belying the forthcoming good news. ?If you?re as good as you say, and seeing as you come with a recommendation from a close friend of mine, I?ll give you a go. You?ve already shown you?ve got a galaxy?s worth of personality over the man you will be replacing, so go ahead and head inside, dump your stuff in the crew bunk and make yourself at home.?

It had been nearly an hour since the police had picked him up initially and here he was returning back, at last. He was going to have to break the news to the crew, but he might as well make sure the ship was up and running first. Parting ways with Jasen as they entered the cargo bay, the Captain made his way to the bridge, where he found Kraid working. ?Status report, Kraid??

    TAG: Jasen, Kraid

OOC: Our timeline is a little muddled at the moment, so me returning to the ship will happen some time after where everyone else is, so once you?re done, just fast-forward to the present. Though, for Kraid, respond to S2 earlier, do what you have to do between that and then jump to the present.

BTW, some addendum for earlier? there were no cuffs involved in either trip of Jav?s with the police, so disregard that fact.
