    Croak!

    Zem blinked.

DeeZee whirled around toward the source and got off a shot from it's mini blaster pistol. The ruby bolt splashed into the deck plating just a few feet from the gizka that had come out to investigate them. The former Imperial blinked again at the sight of the creature as it quickly scurried away to hide behind a cannister.

"Vermin, master," Dee replied and started to hover after the creature but Zem grabbed a hold of him before the droid could.

"Or the Rodian's pet," he informed before standing up and carefully approaching the gizka. He peered around the cannister and furrowed his eyebrows. "Or vermin indeed. It's a gizka."

"What is a gizka, master?" DeeZee queried with a child like curiosity as he hovered over his master's shoulder.

"An annoyance for space farers, they breed like Kushiban," he said before tapping into the comm system of the ship. "Captain, I hope you are aware that you have a gizka aboard?"

Five shots rang out from the Mercenary group with a rage behind them that was almost palpable even from this distance. The first shot flew wild, more than likely from the shooter trying to gain a stable target, but the next four hit true.

Hitting the engine of the bike that was already spewing smoke, it quickly began to spout long arcs of flame until a large explosion registered and sent pieces of the bike flying in every which direction. It?s pilot, however, flew over his handlebars and face first into a fallen log before sinking into the mud bog.

The next two shots impacted into the body armor of one of the bikers, taking his breath away as it began to compromise his protective covering. However, when the third shot grazed his right arm, he lost total control and collided with one of his squad mates, both spinning wildly through the jungle and bouncing off several trees before hitting the ground and erupting in a ball of flame.

Undeterred, however, the one remaining biker pushed on. The mercenaries were injured, that much he knew, and he would do all he could to make sure they didn?t escape this. Aiming his blaster pistol, he fired off two shots but only scoring one hit. The blaster bolt pierced the leg of the party?s sole Duros pilot (Captain Jav Boran). The mercenary?s bike began to swerve as the pilot obviously tried to deal with the pain, but to the Gran?s chagrin he managed to regain control and continue onward.

"Gamble, ground party! Immediate pickup right - right here! Here's our track! We're scramming on swoops and the natives are restless, so karkin' floor it!"

A few moments later, the ship?s Navcomputer registered Kraid?s upload and the droid quickly went to plot an intercept course.

?Mr. Arriv, please get the ship warmed up and in the air as quickly as you can! We have to get out there and retrieve them.?

Glancing out the main viewport again as the Navcomputer began its computations, S2-56G noted the approach of at least 8 Nu-class Imperial Shuttles descending towards the city. Without a doubt, Stormtroopers would be in the streets in minutes, but were they here for them or to quell the revolt going on in the city. One thing was true, however? they didn?t have the time to find out.

?This is S2, copy that, Mr. Kraid,? the Utility Droid responded as he slammed his hand down onto the communications panel while trying to multi-task at other stations. ?Shall I alert Dr. Duroth? Do we have injured??

"Captain, I hope you are aware that you have a gizka aboard?"

Stormreever?s message over the comm. made the Rodian?s stomach drop. He places a frustrated hand on his forehead and sighed. Gizka? why did it have to be Gizka? Reaching across the Dowager?s control console, he slammed a dull green fist onto the comm. "Are you sure it?s a Gizka and not a Pond Jumper or something?" Meedo asked in Huttese, having forgotten previously that neither his passenger nor his droid spoke Rodese. He already knew the answer to this, of course, as he had already dealt with a Gizka infestation on his drydocked ship two months ago. He was sure he had gotten rid of all of them, though.

"Are you sure it?s a Gizka and not a Pond Jumper or something?"

Zem sighed and examined the gizka a little better, flicking on a glowlamp from his helm to see it better. "Definately gizka. I'd never forget those things from the last infestation I had to deal with. What do you want me to do with it? Kill it or?" he asked in Huttese.

Elis GyrrBridge- Fool?s Gamble- Docking Bay 222- Pixelito- Malastare

Elis glanced behind him at his tail, Li Kya. The skeletal humanoid did his best to produce a smile that would please the child. Elis?s species was notoriously ugly to humans, but the boy seemed not to care. Ever since meeting, Li had been crawling, walking and bouncing after Elis. Elis, of course, held no aversion to the adopted son of Aden Kya, and even enjoyed the tykes company.

Elis stooped farther than he already was, in a small hallway aboard the Fool?s Gamble. With a sweeping motion, he scooped Li from the ground and placed him atop his shoulders. Just as he had done so, Givin heard the faint blare of an alarm at the front of the vessel. Elis swallowed hard and took his second to last Barabel fruits from the large bag that was perpetually at his side.

Elis briefly broke off a small bit for Li and then nearly inhaled the juicy black treat. He handed the piece to his charge and made for the cockpit. It only took him a second, to discern their dilemma, once he had entered the command room. Though he was generally less talented than the bulk of Givin, Elis still was considerably skilled at reading charts. Even from the doorway, he could see the problem.

Two Pellaeon-Class Star Destroyers were in the Malastare atmosphere. Elis sighed. They hadn?t called the Fool?s Gamble unlucky for nothing.

Picking up what might have been Ando's holdout blaster, the Kushibah tucked the weapon in his belt sash. In a full sprint, Yiddim paddled his feet back into the Lady Luck where, even after Ando's lil' skirmish, everything looked as if it had snapped back into place like a used wedding ring. Moving among the large sentients, Yiddim found a good place to hide just before the savrips came back in looking for him. Looking for adventure and going to prison seemed to be hand and hand, yet Yiddim didn't know if thrill seeking should go that far, especially since he didn't have back up.

The Savrips began conversing with one another, but from this distance and the way they talked anyway, Yiddim failed to understand, but quickly hurried to the back where their boss would surely be. This is where he thanked the Galaxy for his small size because it made him unnoticeable in chaotic places. Pausing for a moment of silent contemplation, Yiddim walked down the hallway presumedly leading to the "boss". Slightly overdramatic, but this was what his next book would need if he would become an Inner Core Bestseller.

Yiddim pushed the door open, armed only with his vibroblade, into the office where he frowned around the room before realizing just how good his book could get just from adding this scene alone. He grinned eagerly.

"I suspect this is where I bargain for a ship off planetside."

The flash of light that penetrated the Cap'n's leg happened to be right where Kraid was looking while waiting for a response from the Gamble. He instinctively swore and shifted his leg from the Cap'n's as if another bolt was headed for his next.

"Cap'n! Cap'n!" He was now looking at the duros, trying to see if he read his state from the poor view on the back of the swoop. "You okay?! Cap'n?!"

    S2's call interrupted Kraid's questioning.

?Shall I alert Dr. Duroth? Do we have injured??

Kraid uninhibitedly screamed his response into the comm: "Yes!"

This by far had been the most terrifying swoop ride he had been on. On second thought, Jasen took it back remembering that one time on Ryloth. The only replies he had gotten from Drevin were grunts of some kind. The Gran following the crew were relentless, and were not planning on giving up anytime soon.

Suddenly a stray blaster blot from the pursuing Gran hit Drevin's leg. The swoop banked to the left, forcing Jasen to hold on tight to the alien in front of him. The Ongree managed to gain control of the swoop.

?Fmeh,? The Ongree muttered. Jasen admired him for pushing through the pain, but then it happened again. Another blaster bolt hit the Ongree, only this time in his side. How much could bug-eyes take before it was over with for the both of them? Jasen gritted his teeth, firing his blaster widely at the Gran.

?Will you please shoot them?? Drevin said loud enough for Jasen to pick up. He smirked. Then to follow what he had said Drevin let out an odd yell. ?BLARG!?

Jasen raised his eyebrows but continued to shoot anyways. He closed one eye, aiming right for the head of the one nearest them. He had done this several times before and knew he could hit the Gran directly between the eyes, if he was lucky. So far though things had not been so lucky. Jasen pulled the trigger, hoping the bolt made it's target. He wasn't sure because right after he had fired the shot he had turned back to the Ongree.

?I think we may need to switch places if you can. If not, we need to get the krif out of here because one more shot and you'll be as good as dead!? Jasen yelled over the roar of the wind. It would be risky, but it may work if the Ongree was up to it.

Tal let out a yell of pain, reflexively jerking his right arm closer to his chest - unfortunately, his hand was still gripping the handlebar, so the swoop veered wildly to the right. Agh. Tal recorrected again, bringing his swoop back in line - he supposed he should have been jinking anyway like Aden had said, but still, that hurt.

Now every course correction sent stabbing pain up his shoulder. Tal's vision swam; could he pilot one-handed? His left hand wasn't his strong hand. He tried taking his right hand off - they veered left and pain shot up his right arm again anyway - no that wasn't working. Gotta tough it out then. Just a bit farther.

Behind him, Aden had let out a cry of pain as well. Suddenly there was a scrabbling at his side where his blaster was holstered and a voice shouting in his ear again. "I've been hit. Gotta hurry. Need your gun."

Tal nodded vigorously. He didn't need it, he couldn't shoot and drive - and he didn't even really know how to shoot straight, but the Captain had insisted - speaking of which, they had lost some ground with Tal's experimental manoeuvring. They were still in sight of the rest of the group, but a bit behind ... not good ... Tal gunned the engine for all it was worth, hoping vaguely it wouldn't blow up as a result.

The last remaining of Maw Mox?s force pursuing the crew of the Fool?s Gamble didn?t have time to react as the crimson bolt pierced his throat and severed his spine. Veering off course, his Swoop entered into the brush and crashed not with a mighty explosion but with a ringing thud and cries of song birds as their treetop roosts were shaken.

Thus ended the deadly pursuit and, finally, those escaping could breath a temporary sigh of relief? that is, until the next danger arose. The jungle is a dangerous place.

    IC: Captain Jav Boran

If his teeth had been gritted any harder, they would have certainly have cracked, but this was about all Jav could do at the moment to deal with the pain. It?s rather hard to attempt calming breathing exercises while you?re involved in a high-speed chase.

?Yeah? I?m okay?? the Duros managed in a tone that would be described as both re-assuring yet angry, the latter leading to a more hissing tone to his usually calm voice. It was obvious that he wasn?t angry at Kraid. Not, it was more the anger of a wounded animal trying to deal with its predicament. ?Hopefully the Gamble is on its way??

He glanced at the global positioning unit again. They only had a quarter of a kilometer until they broke through the tree line and arrived at Pixelito. It would seem almost as if they were in the clear. Almost.

The sound of something like roaring beasts sounded overhead in the canopy, even over the sounds of their Swoops? engines, as five Dugs swinging on vines descended from the foliage above. They were armed with blasters in their free hands, but they weren?t using them. Obviously, killing their prey wasn?t on their minds just yet.

One Dug just managed to miss the Captain in the front, swinging close to the steering vain, and another had just brushed again Kraid?s back. The remaining three, however, were a wrecking ball of snarling rage as they slammed into both Captain Boran and Kraid, knocking the violently from their vehicle.

Time almost seemed to slow as the Duros soared through the air, arms waving, as he face-planted into a nearby log and then fell backwards into a dank bog. In the distance, he could hear the sound of an explosion, undoubtedly his Swoop as it careened into some debris.

?Oh? I had wondered? what happened to the Dugs??

?Catch it if you can, Stormreever,? he replied over the comm. in Huttese once more. "Yes," said the Ongree, wondering at the light show that was playing about the edges of his vision. "Switch places."

Dervin-Joss angled the swoop steeply towards the ground and slammed the brakes. This was not what Jasen had requested nor predicted, but as the swoop pulled to a hovering halt and his cohort fell sideways to the earth beneath, he understood why.

"Just...give me a moment to catch my breath, yeah?" asked the Ongree, one hand palming the wound in his side. "Do what you want in the meantime. Shoot the bad guys, twiddle your digits --" the remainder of his reply was bitten off with burning pain. "My kingdom for a bacta patch," he moaned quietly.

It was then, lying on his back looking up at the foliage, that Dervin-Joss realized the sounds of persuit were no longer buzzing about them. "Did we win?" he asked. Not waiting for a reply, the Ongree slowly levered himself back to his feet.

"Doctor please," he said to his human companion, gritting the razor-sharp teeth that lived halfway up his triangular head.

By the time Aden furiously managed to reach for Tal's blaster, the last remaining Gran was down. And Aden could focus on breathing away his pain. He growled, holstering his own blaster and holding his free hand to his side, testing for wetness. He winced as he turned back, and saw that Tal had been shot too - that explained the drunken flying that he'd just experienced - Aden wasn't complaining, as that jinking had probably saved them.

The team reached the Dugs and Aden allowed himself to fall back, as Tal slowed. He fell to the ground on the grass, grunting a bit, but managing not to bang his head. Taking a breath and falling into the techniques he'd used as a Knight, Aden tried his best to maintain control of his pain. He pushed off the ground with his left hand, the opposite side to the burn, and peered down at the wound.

    "Doctor please,"

Dervin was injured too, it looked, and at least half of the others. Aden, staying on the ground, spoke up. "Yeah, I could use some of that." He wasn't sure how bad it was, but he knew he didn't want it to get infected.

Just as the Ongree and Jasen were about swicth places, they noticed that the chase was now over. Jasen wondered if it was his aimed shot that took out the remaining Gran, and would probably claim it was even if it wasn't. As Drevin pulled the swoop to a halt, it forced Jasen to fall on the ground with the alien.

?Just...give me a moment to catch my breath, yeah?? Drevin asked. Jasen slowly stood up eying Drevin's wounds. Jasen looked at the wreckage behind them as his partner muttered something else. Jasen noticed Aden and Tal had stopped not to far away from them. It looked as if Aden had been shot as well.

?Doctor please,? Drevin said as he stood up. Jasen held on to his arm, making sure he wasn't about to fall back over.

Aden, who was on the ground, muttered something as well. ?Yeah, I could use some of that.?

?Alright, just stay where you are. I'm sure the ship-? Jasen stopped as he noticed five Dug swinging through the jungle. It didn't seem like the Dug intended harm until they kicked Jav and the nail painting Kauti to the ground, causing the swoop to fly out from under them and explode into a tree nearby.

Jasen dropped his blaster pistol, it needed a new carbine pack anyways, and reached over his back for his rifle. He quickly aimed it at the Dug, dropping to his knee as he did so. What else could go wrong?

"Captian?" Jasen raised his voice, wondering what Jav wanted them to do.

A part of him wanted to vaporize the little critter as he moved closer and pulled out his hand pistol. He set the hand weapon on stun more with the safety of the ship in mind than pity for the animal. This rust bucket was falling apart and he didn't need to cause any unnecessary damage in trying to capture the thing.

    IC: Yiddim
    Lady Fate Casino, Ord Mantell

Yiddim eyed the Neimoidian as he closed the door. His mind bit at him to stab on of his blades in the panel, but if they were called, the Savrip would just tear down the door. Plus, stabbing the control panel might be taken as a sign of hostility.

Sheathing his blade in his belt, Yiddim smiled and made his way to a chair sitting in front of Hote Vale's desk. It was a very fabulous looking room, but that wasn't an odd trait for the building. The entire casino seemed weird on Ord Mantell's less than extravegant surface, yet what wasn't? Pleasuring themselves with glowing possessions was a large part of the stereotypical image of Neimoidians and being notorious for their cowardice was another. That didn't mean that Hote Vale's was to be taken lightly, as the species was also cunning and treacherous given the right tools.

Yes, Yiddim had been played a Galactic Turn and he needed to play it well and wisely.

"Yes, please. Some cafe would do. Thank you." The Kushiban spoke quietly, completely in control with his emotions. Yiddim actually was mildly amused at how comfortable he had become when he looked at the whole situation and what could happen within the next couple of minutes.

Yiddim took a small sip of the caf, and immediately his whole body was warmed with heaven. His eyes slowly drifted to Hote Vale as he quickly began the process of negotiation.

"As I'm sure you are already aware of, my partner, Ando Rissant, and I, earlier, were the subject of a sort of scam, if you will. I would like to apologise, but since your Savrips are already searching for me, I would like to speed this process up so that both of us can profit. You want some justice for what happened tonight and I wish the planet from under my feet, as soon as possible."

The Kushiban raised his cup with his small furry paws and took several gulps down, licking his whiskers afterward. Eyes wondering around the room, Yiddim proceeded. "I will give you Ando Rissant, a very elusive man, for you aren't the first casino bos-..owner that he has wronged and I'm sure the other Jacks of your trade would be delighted, maybe even pay you to do their own gruesome things to the meatbag." Visibly shaking to put emphasis on the word "gruesome".

"In return, all I ask is for transportation off Ord Mantell. You seem reasonable enough, so maybe we can resolve this swiftly and efficiently as to not waste your much deserved time, Honourable Hote Vale."

And that is how you lay your cards on the table boys and girls, Yiddim thought to himself. Whether it worked or not was irrelevant, because Yiddim felt that this might be his best confrontation in the book yet.

    Hmm, still needs a title.

"The kriffers followed us all the way?!" he shouted in disbelief as he eyed the dug that brushed by him. At the same time, he had his hands on his carbine and was unslinging it from his back...

When he suddenly found himself careening through the air. All he could register is that something hit him hard as he crashed head first into a bog. A very muddy and wet engineer flailed to his knees, the water only at thigh level, coughing up the foul water as he tried to regain his breath. His senses somewhat returning, the incredibly livid Kuati managed to wrestle his carbine off of his back and into his hands and shoulder, rapidly pointing his carbine around him.

    "WHERE ARE YA?!?! DIE KRIFFS!!!"

Kraid caught eye of the vines that the dugs were swinging on. Thinking that they might still be playing lords of the jungle, he aimed at the branch that seemed to be where the vines originated, selected his carbine to "auto" mode, and sprayed the branch with blaster fire with the hope of severing the vines and ending the dugs' playtime.

Aden sat up, and yanked his blaster from his holster, with difficulty. He opened fire, realising that laying on the ground waiting to die was a quick way to go. His aggression peaked, and he felt something stir within him, the dark side, undoubtedly, not that he cared. He rolled the opposite way to his wound, and then again, screeching at the pain as he landed on the wound and pushed off it, trying to stay a moving target and firing at every opportunity.

?Thanks? for your concern, guys,? Jav muttered with the utmost of sarcasm in his voice. Using the log he had been thrown into as a brace, the Captain stood shakily from the bog, spitting putrid water from his mouth as he returned to full height. It was just then that the first blaster shots rang out. He climbed back onto solid ground just as the five Dugs rose up from the brush and surrounded the crew, blaster pistols raised. Meanwhile, his men look liked they were ready to open fire and slaughter the whole lot of the Malastare natives, but he knew that perhaps there was still hope for them yet without getting into another combat situation. Hobbling forward, he held out his arms to try to calm both the dugs and his crewmen.

?Whoah, whoa, whoa now, everbody. Let?s try to be civil here for a moment before we try to blast off each other?s heads,? he began in basic before switching to Huttese as he addressed the Dugs. ?Gentlemen, I know the situation back at your base certainly looked bad, but you must trust me! We did not intend to lead the Gran to you! All I wanted was my men back safely and then, as we had agreed with your leader, we would have helped you. You must believe me? we don?t want to fight you!?

However, when the Dugs spoke up after he had finished, it was in a language he did not understand. It wasn?t Huttese and it wasn?t Basic, so what was it? Dug?ese?

I saw you keeping track of the gambler?s activities on the security holos, thus in exchange for your passage offworld, I would like a transcript of your notes and a signed confession for use in Mr. Rissant?s eventual trial before the High Courts. More than revenge, it is important that justice is served in this case and that he is convicted so that he can not continue his spree of theft and defrauding of reputable establishments such as the Lady Fate again.?

    Jungles - Malastare

Slightly irritated at the blaster wound to his shoulder, Kuze tried to look menacing toward the surrounding Dugs as Jav tried speaking to them in Huttese.

Probably should have spent a little less time dropping that jacket and a little more on evasion, he thought of the intentional dropping of his jacket and subsequent brush with severe injury. Holding his modified blaster pistol in his left hand and keeping a small scrap torn from his shirt pressed on the burn scar with his right, he lined up the Dug leader in his scope as the diminutive alien spoke in his native tongue to the captain, oblivious of Jav's attempts to speak with him on the common ground of Huttese.

After a moment of the Dug airing his words, Jav turned his head slightly, ?Does anyone have any idea what he just said?"

Kuze thought long and hard. He had definitely known at least passable "Dugese" at one point. A Dug broker who once kept clandestine accounts for him on Nar Shaddaa had spoken almost exclusively in his native tongue, prompting Drasius to have to teach himself as much of the language's day-to-day use as possible in order to do business. He just hoped he remembered all he could.

Ok, he definitely said 'mercenary' in association with us. Kuze recalled the Dug leader's other vocalizations. 'Reputation.' 'Traitor.'

Clearing his throat, Drasius replied to Jav, "He says we mercs have a treasonous reputation." He paused as he fumbled over a few more words, but the Dug language was starting to come back to him as he shifted word translations around in different cases and genders. "Soleeto trusted us, but this guy never did. He thinks we betrayed the Gran, and he suspects we'll do the same to him."

Satisfied in his translation, Kuze swallowed to ease his own tension, and stood ready to fight if the Dug group grew even more impatient.

    Elis Gyrr
Bridge- Fool?s Gamble- Docking Bay 222- Pixelito- Malastare

Elis saluted theatrically and about-faced. He spoke to Li, loudly, in an equally obnoxious voice. ?My good fellow, let us take a trip to the engine room, shall we?? Without waiting for a response, Elis marched off. He stepped into the lift tube at the back of the bridge and took it down to the sublevel.

The lift door opened to reveal a passed out Gorrk, snoring on the floor. Elis chuckled softly and announced, ?Bridge calling Gorrk. Gorrk is wanted to aid in the safe return of the captain to his vessel. Please report immediately.? Elis nudged the remains of a droid arm and pushed it towards the fallen form. It slid across the floor and when it touched him, the air rippled at the end. A small metal object rattled on a shelf and flew from its perch towards Gorrk.

Elis turned away, not wishing to be around when Gorrk awoke. He hurried to the lift tube and pushed the button for the main level. Being that the medical center was the first room on the right, once out of the tube, Elis had just a little distance to walk. He continued his high-kneed stride stopped just offset the med bay door. He motioned to a giggling Li, to quiet. The toddler copied his action, but thankfully was silent.

Elis had great respect for any who were trained in the field of medicine, for their profession?s usefulness, and so, had no wish to burst into Doctor Duroth?s domain, unannounced. He rapped on the metal casing around the open door and called softly, ?Doctor, are you free??

    Lady Fate; Ord Mantell

Listening to the Neimoidian talk only soothed Yiddim. It meant that he was actually considering this offer or that he was going to get Yiddim and Ando. Betrayal was a horrible thing, yet Yiddim was going to do it to Ando, so it would only be right that it be done to him.

When Hote Vale finished speaking and Yiddim drained the rest of his caf down, he chose his words carefully before he began. "I have kept information on Ando ever since we met. His personality, contacts, gambling tricks, basically, the data you're looking for. B-...But it would come out of my novel and I would miss that part. There is no substitute for first hand data. Though if its the only way..."

Sighing, Yiddim pulled a row of 5 datachips out of his belt and placed them on the Neimoidian's desk. This was slightly unexpected. He had wanted Hote Vale to just take Ando, that was reasonable and more than payment due. Yiddim needed a way out of this on the green. The Kushiban stared at the row of chips before resuming his calm position, despite he was anything but calm at this moment.

"I want a speeder and transportation off, sir, in trade with this data. I will tell you where Ando is...No, I have something even better. I'll call Ando and tell him to meet me at the spacestation so we can leave, offering him more credits for his company. Leaving here, your guards will still chase me to the Spaceport, where they will get Ando and I will leave this whole occurence behind me."

Turning his gaze to Hote Vale, the Kushiban requested kindly, "But I want to hear you talk to the transport." He relaxed again. "Now, I would say that's a fair offer. Meeting everyone's demands."

    Kraid Tynne
wet, muddy, and livid in the jungles of Malastare

Kraid stopped firing at the branch when he realized that it was a useless exercise. Deciding to use his ears, he turned towards the Cap'n who - he now realized that he landed not too far from him - was out on the ground and talking to the dugs that were very conveniently surrounding the whole group with drawn blasters. He slowly walked back onto solid ground nearby the Cap'n, pointing his carbine at the nearest dug. Just by chance he noticed his comm/datapad was lying there on the ground, and he took a stance over it.

The fact that the Cap'n tried to bargain with the pests didn't surprise Kraid, as it seemed the Cap'n always tried to play the good guy in all situations for some reason. This time it ticked him off. Kuze's interpretation, valid or not, ticked him off even more.

"You gotta be kiddin' me," rattled off the engineer. "Wasn't it obvious that back on the ranch these four-legged, tree-swinging brixers wanted to turn our choobies into ceremonial head dresses?! They made up their minds that we're traitors so let's get this over with!"

Jasen stood slowly from his kneeling position, his rifle still on the Dug who had made for an unexpected surprise. Kuze was managing to understand what the Dug were saying, relating it back to the Captain. Then the Kauti, what was his name again? Kraid is what he always told Jasen, but no that wasn't it...no, it was Prancer! That was his name.

?...They made up their minds that we're traitors so let's get this over with!?

?You know I'm always up for a good fight, Prancer. But if you haven't noticed, we have some of our crew injured. So unless you want to get vaped, I'd suggest you shut that mouth of yours.? Jasen snapped at Kraid. The two hadn't got along at all over the last ten months and some times they argued. This was one of those times. Not only was this ship building, nail panting, dancing man endangering the crews life with his threats, but most importantly his own.

Jasen eyed the Captain, wondering how he was going to work this one out. He just wished the Gamble would get here.

Zhaelor'dau dismounted the swoop, just behind Drasius. There was a flurry of dialogue he couldn't understand between the Captain and the Dug who appeared to be the leader of the party. He recognized, by its general sound and cadence, that the language the Captain used was Huttese. Zhaelor'dau had heard Huttese spoken enough times to know of it and know what it sounded like, but he only spoke about two words of it. He had never picked up Huttese. He was barely fluent in Basic after living in this galaxy for 4 years. The language the Dug used was absolutely alien to him. Although he was used to it by now, hearing such a rapid smattering of dialogue he didn't understand set off a twinge of foreignness in the back of his mind. It vaguely reminded him that this was not his galaxy, that he was alone here.

?Does anyone have any idea what he just said?? Jav muttered from the side of his mouth to his men. Apparently the Captain shared his ignorance.

"He says we mercs have a treasonous reputation." Drasius spoke up. In his few months on the ship, Zhaelor'dau had come to learn that the Human was very good with languages. He was glad someone on hand was able to make the conversation understandable, but then again, a charged blaster really is a universal language. "Soleeto trusted us, but this guy never did. He thinks we betrayed the Gran, and he suspects we'll do the same to him."

Zhaelor'dau moved closer to his comrades, trying to get a better angle on the situation. He was careful to move slowly and not alarm the Dugs. He sensed a fight might break out any moment. He slowly moved his hand from his side to gingerly scratch his chest, knowingly placing his hand a few centimeters from his nang hul bandoleer. He waited to see how the rest of the negotiations went.

    Kraid Tynne
out of line in the jungles of Malastare

The melodious, sweet voice of the Corellian made the Kuati forget about the situation that he was currently in and created a new one.

He dropped his carbine from his shoulder, still holding the grip of the stock in his right hand, and his left hand shot out an accusing finger at Jasen.

"I'll vape YOUR pretty face right now, Cover Girl, if YOU don't shut the KRIFF UP, ya coward! Die on your feet and not on your knees!" The last phrase came courtesy from an Imp named Zem that Kraid had the "pleasure" of knowing not too long ago. It had stuck with the engineer ever since the Imp shouted during the duel with the creatures-from-outer-space-that-don't-exist, and he mostly said to himself as encouragement to counter his own fear when it came to fights.

Obviously it was not courage that he needed right now. More like an optimistic view of the current situation and a stress pill. Or a strong sedative. One of his nicknames in his old merc group? "Haywire." Fellow crew members that he didn't care for? Evident now.

Dervin-Joss was burned, bleeding, and unhappy. The dugs were apparently betrayed and unhappy. Jasen and Kraid were pissed off and unhappy. All in all, a less than tenable position for an ambitious young Ongree.

"Boys, boys," the orange-skinned, triangular-headed gambler and engineer said quietly, "You're both beautiful in my eyes. Let's dial back the vitriol and assess the situation calmly, shall we?" Hand pressed against his hip wound, the Ongree limped forward painfully. He, of course, did not understand a word of what the dugs were carrying on about. "Oh, to be a linguist," he muttered. "A cunning linguist with something to wrap my tongue around. Ah, well." Louder, while keeping his eyes on the dugs, Dervin-Joss added, "Captain, a plan would be a wonderful thing right about now. Before the carnage."

The injured Ongree's free hand drifted to his side, where the lightsaber he'd acquired hung. He unclipped it and held it loosely in his free hand, as it had been banging against his leg wound anyway. If he was going to go down, he'd at least be able to die knowing it had been for no reason at all, surrounded by people he didn't know very well and with nothing to show for it.
