    Elis Gyrr
    Loading Ramp, Fool's Gamble, Malastare

Elis heard a cry for help over the din of battle. He would?ve immediately moved, but he hesitated, for Li?s safety. He watched Gorrk stagger out towards the crier, Dervin-Joss, but rather than try to drag the alien back to the cover of the ship, the Ugnaught grabbed the Ongree?s laser sword and then hobbled back. Elis cleared his throat and ran over to S2, leaping over a collapsed Gorrk in the process. He handed a cowering Li to the droid and then leapt into the skirmish, his pistol in his hand.

Elis took potshots at Dugs, without aiming and sprinted towards his injured crewmate. Words would only sacrifice much needed time, so he grasped Joss?s arm and slung him over his back.

With their attention on the Fool?s Gamble, Elis was not fired on once, during his slow trek back to the craft. Once up the ramp, rather than dump off his precious cargo, he persisted and ferried the Ongree to the med-bay. Ignoring all customs of politeness, Elis dropped his new charge from his back and rushed out of the medical center, back to the crew?s lounge and loading ramp.

    Kraid Tynne
    jungles and Gamble, Malastare

Kraid sprayed a quick, automatic burst of blaster fire over the entire area where the Dugs dug in, attempting to get their heads down. He quickly reached down for his comm/datapad, shoved it into a pocket and began to back away in a hurry with his carbine pointed at the bad guys.

Kriffing stun, he swore to himself. How could the Cap'n expect them to stun these punks in a situation like this? He can't do automatic fire in stun mode, and when you need suppressing fire like now... He happened to glance at his carbine's ammo pack. Oh. Dangerously low. Reluctantly, the engineer switched it to the single-fire stun mode, hoping he'd have enough to do some damage. Firing, he made his way to one of the landing struts for cover so that if the punks decided to shoot back at him, only he'd be a target and not the rest of the group all huddled by the ramp.

What a selfless act of kindness, especially when that Jasen made quite a tempting target... Speaking of a tempting target, where was that ace reporter/playwright Wyl Lorrka when you needed him? Wasn't there some sort of word in literature for this? When you think a situation's gonna go the wrong way no matter what, and then something suddenly and unexpectedly happens that reverses the entire situation, getting you out of it and making everyone happy in the end?

Whatever. Plays were a waste of time. Kraid kept shooting.

    IC: Drasius Kuze
    Jungles - Malastare

As the enemy fire intensified and portions of his crew mates began withdrawing back toward the Gamble, Kuze realized he was kind of exposed, still near Jav where they had been when the firefight had started and the ship had showed up.

Hugging the ground and fumbling with one hand to set his DL-44 to stun, he took a moment to regret tossing his jacket to the wind during the Dugs' pursuit. If he had kept it, it probably would have absorbed the splash damage the bolt which injured his arm gave off. He took a moment as he gathered himself for a run back toward the general vicinity of the Gamble, hoping he would be able to get a replacement somewhere soon.

Kuze pulled up to a low crouch as the Dugs directly near him seemed to concentrate their fire on the ship rather than the crew. Steadying his piece amid the blaster bolts searing into the damp surroundings here and there, he squeezed off a round - a round which drained the powerpack considerably, and blew out one of the heat sinks, sending a puff of pungent ozone mixed with incinerated metals into his face. He took a moment to brush off the crud, "Gonna have to get a new one of those, too," he said aloud in his exasperation.

Springing quickly to his feet, he sprinted back toward the ship, dodging over timbers and leaping through underbrush - doing all he could to keep the Dugs from training their guns on him.

Noticing Kraid, his acquaintance from his original stay with the Gamble, ducking behind one of the ship's landing rigs, Drasius bounded for his position. After a close call or two on his way to his comrade, he fell in a controlled heap on the soggy ground, coming around and resting his elbow on the ship's footpad.

Looking up at Kraid, he said, "This certainly ain't my day." After pausing a moment to catch his breath, he laughed, "So what do ya say, think we should convince Jav to mount a concealed turret under this thing? Only to fire stun, of course."

    Malastare

As soon as the Capitan ordered them to set to stun, Jasen dropped to one knee and aimed for the nearest Dug near him. Finally the Fool's Gamble had come, almost too late. Jasen eyed the switch on his rifle, wondering if he should ?accidentally? forget to set it on stun. He looked over to see the Ugnaught, Ugh as Jasen had begun calling him, helping Drevin-Joss onto the ship. These Dugs were wanting a fight? Jasen was going to give them one.

The first shot Jasen fired was not on stun, but set to kill. He aimed right for the head of what looked like the chief.

?Spit on that, kriffer.? Jasen yelled. He then set for stun, shooting at the rest of the dugs. He began backing up towards the Gamble as he fired. If Kraid and Duze wanted to stay and play Imperial Commando, that was by far fine with him.

    Jungles, Malastare

As soon as the words "provide covering fire" left the Captain's mouth, Zhaelor'dau let a razor bug fly and sprinted to a tree on the periphery of the battle. Well, Nang hul don't have stun settings, he thought compromisingly. He was sure that, in this situation, it was better to use the things to press the offensive on the Dugs. Hopefully he was good enough to hit non-vital spots.

Now he was roughly in line with the Dugs' formation. He could release all of his razor bugs, but they would certainly flay the Dugs to death, possibly along with some of the Gamble's crew. If the Captain wanted blasters on stun, using ten razor bugs certainly couldn't be something that he wanted. With his supply, he couldn't use them as a kind of "suppressive fire," though fortunately Kraid and Jasen seemed to be supplying that. Zhaelor'dau aimed for another Dug's leg and flung another razor bug.

He looked to the Gamble's ramp. He might be able to make a break to it, but too many crewmates were still on the ground. It was too dangerous to stop firing now. He snatched a third razor bug off his bandoleer and threw it, waiting for the Dugs to let their attack drop off by any degree and maybe give him an opening to run.

"A stun autoturret, ha ha ha," he shouted sarcastically to Kuze who was now beside him. "You know, Kuze - " Kraid paused as he fired a blue bolt at one of the dug in Dugs that were dug in, "I think I've mentioned an autoturret to the Cap'n each time we've scrammed from a place while under fire." Kraid fired again. "I THINK THAT'S EVERY SINGLE KRIFFING TIME WE'VE GOTTEN AIRBORNE!"

The engineer took a quick look at his carbine. "Ha! Ten shots left! Perfect! I love this! Kuze, you were a soldier! Run over there do some of that solider kark on those punks!"

IC: Captain Jav Boran and S2-56G
    Fool?s Gamble- Jungles- Malastare

The Dugs attention soon returned to the crew as his men began to provide cover fire. Armed with only his sidearm and unable to fire stun bolts, Jav tried to shoot as close to his targets as possible to keep they down without actually hitting them. However, when one crimson bolt tore through the air and left a smoldering hole in the log near the Dug leader?s head, Jav furrowed his brow in frustration.

?If I find out who fired that blaster bolt, you?ll be getting a reduction in pay when we get off this rock!? he growled over his shoulder in a most uncharacteristic way as he fired off a few more shots.

Pay. Managing to pause and survey the scene behind him as blaster bolts burned through the air, he found that none of the Flare-S Swoops had been gathered up and were dangerously close to being hit at times. Again, the Captain gritted his teeth. ?S2! I need your help!?

Trundling down the Gamble?s landing ramp, The Multi-Purpose Utility Droid made his way perilously across the battlefield as weapons fire from both sides came close to impacting on his chassis several times before he made it to Jav?s side.

?Yes, Captain. How may I help you??

?No one?s gone to get the Swoops yet. I need you to go get one of the three while I get the other,? the Duros mercenary hissed through his teeth, the wound in his leg flaring as he turned to face his co-pilot. ?Kraid, Dow, Jasen, get to the ship! Kuze, get the last Swoop!?

Hobbling out of his hiding place and visibly in pain, the Captain reached into the opposite pocket he had been working out of before and tossed what looked like a Class-E Thermal Detonator in the general direction of the Dugs. It was a dud, of course, but they wouldn?t know that until later. For now, it would be enough to get them to flee the scene and leave them be. It was an effective tactic, but they were still expensive so it wasn?t one that could be overly used.

The Captain made a bee-line for the nearest Flare-S and, grabbing it by the handles, limped over with it to the landing ramp as the Dugs ran screaming into the distance.

Aden flopped at the base of the ramp as blaster fire rang out, hissing swear words under his breath. Gorrk had ran past him and ignored him as he crawled the distance, snatching what looked like the Ongree's lightsaber from him. Then, the Givin had done the same. Dervin was screaming about needing saving, or something, and that Aden's blood really boil. The Force wisped around him - gripped between clenched fingers, and Aden snarled, pointing his hand at the Dugs - his other holding his side.

He focused his rage and fury from that dark place inside him down his hand, just like the Sith had taught him too in those days after the deposing of Emperor Fel, just like 'Darth Insipid' had demanded he do so, imagining a bolt of lightning emerging from his fingers and 'stunning' the Dugs -

And then he saw Li, next to Gorrk.

His anger collapsed into despair, completely befuddled by what the hell Li was doing so close to the frontline. Aden pulled himself up the ramp, carefully. He looked at Gorrk, who padded away from his child, not even paying attention. Firmly in the hold, he looked at Li and smiled, ignoring the chaos behind him, the child himself seemingly not noticing. Aden sat up, carefully, picking up the child and wondering why he couldn't feel the pain particularly well.

He grimaced - he was going into shock. It didn't matter. He would hold the boy until someone helped him. Aden looked around. "Anyone?"

Tal shook his head, trying to clear it. It was like a gauzy curtain had descended between him and the world; colours seemed less sharp, sounds less distinct. He was getting the vague impression of an argument, but it was in a language he couldn't understand.
He was absolutely certain this was not a good thing.

A large hulk whizzed past the edge of his vision. The Dugs were ... digging in. (Tal felt an inane desire to laugh.) Now the Captain was shouting. Tal registered his name being called ... something about the ship. Right. That hulk was the ship. Home.

Get to the ship. Get to the ship. He had to go. He couldn't stay here. The dull roaring in his ears had resolved into the sharp tseww of blaster fire. Lots of blaster fire.

Tal heaved himself up. The world spun. Staggering, he wove a path through the trees and up the invitingly open ramp of the Fool's Gamble.
He made it halfway up before he collapsed.

Jasen almost smirked to himself as the continued shooting at the Dug's as he backed his way towards the Gamble. Capitan could have a little mean streak under that bluish gray skin of his, Jasen thought.

Jasen shot one more stun bolt towards the Dugs, then made a run for the ramp of the ship. It was becoming quite crowded with Dervin-Joss, Tal, Aden crowding the walkway. Jasen slung his rifle around his back and bent down to help pick the Ongree up. Jasen had thought Little Ugly, Gorrk, had been helping the alien on the ship but it didn't appear that way.

?Drevin, Dervin-Joss, whatever the kriff your name is let's go!? Jasen yelled. He turned to fire three more shots at the Dugs, then turned to find good ol' Bug Eyes had already been taken in. Jasen ran up the ramp into the ship for saftety.

Kuze looked back at Kraid as Jav tossed one of his precious dummy thermal detonators into the Dug position, sending them reeling. "I'll do some soldier stuff if we get some real weapons, how 'bout that buddy?" he said with a laugh.

After a few more moments of general confusion, Jav began to stand up where he was, and ordered Kuze to grab the last swoop, and everyone else into the ship.

Hopping to his feet, he called out to the Duros, "Roger that boss, I got it," and jogged over to the position of the last Flare-S Swoop, ironically the one he had been piloting from the beginning.

A brief inspection revealed the bike was in good condition still, and after Drasius brushed a few bits of fallen jungle flora off the control console, he jumped on the seat, kicking its manual start to turn over the starting motor and bring the engines online. He quickly dialed the speed back to a crawl, and guided the bike over toward the ramp, taking his time to ensure be brought up the rear.

    Med Bay - Fool's Gamble

The ship's one and only doctor had paid little heed to the chaos that had interrupted his brief medical lesson, and had since returned to preparing to receive the incoming wounded. His preparations were thankfully not rendered moot, for the skeletal mathematician soon returned and unceremoniously dumped the wounded Ongree crewer, Dervin-Joss, on the doctor's formerly spotless floor. Of course, right after I just finished sterilizing it, he sighed. With strength developed from several years of hauling Gamorreans onto examination tables, he lifted and promptly deposited the damaged package where it properly belonged, beneath his antisepsis field.

With a flick and injection of his hypo-syringe, the aforementioned Ongree undoubtedly experienced a swift descent into blissful darkness. Examining the wounds, Dervin-Joss seemed to have had quite a number done on him. "Baatu baatu," the doctor muttered. Luckily for the patient, neither wound seemed to be serious, both only grazing the surface of the skin. Had the shots gone any deeper, there would have likely been permanent damage to the intestinal system, muscles, or tendons. Painful, to be sure, but he would survive. A pair of bacta patches, and he'd be up and back to bar fighting with Dugs in practically no time at all. Dipping into his supply, he applied patches to both wounds, before rolling the hyphenated Ongree off his examination table and across the hall into the laundry, where he ought to not get in the way of the rest of his incoming patients.

    Loading Ramp, Fool's Gamble, Malastare

Chaos had; again, unfolded in the time it had taken Elis to ferry the Ongree to the medbay. The Dugs were scattering, but some of the most vivacious of the crew continued firing at their retreating forms. Elis was more interested in the wounded. Specifically, a skinny looking human, named Tal. Elis dragged the fallen man, by his hand, onto his back and then slung him over his shoulder, as Elis had done with Dervin-Joss.

Elis made the same slow trek to Duroth?s office. With no sense of urgency, he took his time to carefully place the casualty onto the open table in the center of the room. The second trip had left Elis breathing heavily and he staggered back to the door frame. He leaned wearily against it, noting the mysterious absence of the Ongree. He spoke through ragged breaths, ?Has our good friend? Dervin-Joss passed? to the world beyond this??

    Lady Fate Casino; Ord Mantell

Eyeing his guards suspiciously, Yiddim bowed with a smile and walked out of the spacious room. The guards made him nervous because of their size, a feeling that the Kushiban had never gotten used to since deciding to explore the outside galaxy. But with his travels, one thing was very evident and that was this whole deal could go sour very fast, and he wasn't ignoring what could possibly happen.

The guards could easily kill him, get the chips and then find Ando Rissant. Not that he cared for Ando any, but the first step made his shiver. As they began to rise to the Chancellor's suite, he realized how insane this whole situation was turning out to be. He was being given the highest and best room for "free" after just not more than a hour ago, he was an aide in trying to rob the owner. No, Yiddim certainly wasn't oblivious to what was going on.

He started to, and then quicly ceased, trying to figure out how it would be done. How would Hote Vale betray him and what could Yiddim do? But he decided that he would just take certain precautions to prepare for the seemingly inevitable. He doubted he would sleep muc this night.

After Yiddim arrived at the Suite, he bid the guards farewell and proceeded into the extravagant room, locking the door, though he instantly realizing how futile it was. He made himself comfortable, keeping certain things close to him and within reach, mainly the chips and his vibroblades.

The Kushibah relaxed on the bed and begin to watch holovids as the night progressed on, nervously and anxiously awaiting what the Galaxy had in store.

Gorrk?s eye twitched as S2 dumped the disgusting humanling next to him. The look on the child?s face was unsure, its eyes locked on the back of its parent at the bottom of the loading ramp. Gorrk harrumphed, pulling himself up onto shaky legs. The child shifted his gaze as the Ugnaught stood, and Gorrk?s eye twitched again and he growled lowly in his throat.

Looking down at the little human, Gorrk tightened his stomach and let loose some tension in the form of vapor. Setting his cane to the side for a moment, he reached behind himself grabbed a double-handful of fumes and quickly presented them under the child?s nose with a flourish as if performing magic. Calmly, the Ugnaught grabbed his cane and limped away? back to the turbolift shaft to his workshop and away from all this madness. Punching the button he descended into his private domain.

The backpack was quickly unloaded and parts laid out all over the floor with the lightsaber as the centerpoint. Binks hovered around frantically and cursing, expecting the need to dodge where no need was forthcoming. Gorrk sat still thoughtfully, his eyes roaming from one part to the next and back again, frenetically searching for the elusive vision that would turn his dream into reality. When he finally looked up to the neurotic remote, somewhat stilled now from lack of violence, he spoke to it in his native tongue.

The doctor gave the Givin an amused glance. "Nay, but he has passed to the laundry room beyond the hallway yonder." Looking over his newest patient quickly, he winced at what he saw. This one would take some work to get back up and running. He seemed to have conveniently falled unconscious before his arrival, but the doctor sedated him anyways. It was usually best not to have the patients wake up and start shrieking while plucking shrapnel out of their shoulder. Running his medisensor over the Calian's injured arm, the display showed that there didn't appear to be any tendon or bone damage, thankfully, though there was some damage done to the triceps.

Theoretically, this sort of injury was well within his capacity to handle, but the doctor surmised that the captain would be less than pleased with the required recovery time that would leave his slicer without a functional dominant arm. That meant bacta. Which, at the moment, Duroth happened to not be in the possession of. A bacta patch would certainly heal the skin quickly enough, but they were less than useless when it came to handling internal damage. In this case, that meant the services of a real hospital were required. Applying one of the patches he had left, he spoke, not particularly caring who was on the receiving end. "Unless our august skipper is not opposed to having a dilapidated hacker on his hands for a trimester, might I suggest we make haste to the nearest hospital? Our remedial resources are not nearly as up to the effort of handling this alone as my considerable curative skills are, unfortunately."

The captain's impotent thermal detonators caused the Dugs to scatter, and Zhaelor'dau decided that was the best opening he was going to get. He ran to the ramp, passing that Givin crewmate helping Tal Falconer up. It briefly occurred to him that helping either of the injured crewmen up would have been a good way to endear himself to the rest of the crew, so maybe they wouldn't distrust him so much because of his species, but the task had been handled. Besides, a lot of beings in this galaxy seemed to not want his help when he offered it, with the exception of Captain Boran. Either way, it no longer mattered.

He stopped at the lip of the ramp, leaning on one of the hydraulic struts that raised and lowered it. He wanted to make sure the Captain and S2 got the remaining swoops on, but he was concerned with getting his nang hul back. He turned to survey the jungle around them for a moment, hoping one would return soon. Usually they returned within a minute or two, but it could sometimes take several minutes, depending on what they were stuck in. Lucky, one came flying back just then. Zhaelor'dau caught it between two fingers and placed it back on his bandoleer. He wouldn't enter the Gamble's interior until he had either collected all of his bugs or the ship actually started to take off. He also decided he should stay on hand to help secure the swoops when the Captain brought them aboard. As he watched the Captain and the droid carefully pilot their swoops toward the ramp, he hoped he could get his other two razor bugs back before either the Gamble had to take off or the Dugs returned.

Limping the length of the way to the ship while holding onto the Swoop, the Duros Captain forced a smile and nodded to their resident Shamed One who was waiting on the landing ramp. He wasn?t sure what exactly he was waiting for, but the Captain was sure he had his reasons for being there.

At the top of his ramp, to his surprise, he found Aden lying on the ground and looking generally worse for wear. He was obviously in a bad state and needed a medical attention immediately. Jav pushed his Swoop just inside of the cargo bay and then returned and lifted Li from his grip. ?Sorry, my friend, but there?s no time for playing with the tike.?

As S2-56G approached with his Swoop up the ramp, the Captain hobbled over and handed the infant to the automation. ?Here, S2, watch Li. Kraid, you take S2?s swoop and help stow them all in the docking bay.?

Turning back the way he came, he approached Aden and slipped one of the man?s arms around his shoulder. Jav braced himself with his good leg and, gritting his teeth, helped lift him from the ground and the two proceeded with a wholly uneasy gait towards the medical bay. ?Can?t leave you just sitting in the entryway when you have a doctor?s appointment, old boy. No man left behind and all that??

    IC: Gizka
The Dusty Dowager-Hyperspace en route to Ord Mantell

Its eyes widened in horror as the shelled giant came hurtling towards it. The giant?s mammoth hands wrapped around his slippery body, but the young Gizka did all he could to struggle before managing to slip away and hop onto the top of his pursuer?s head. However, there was something else to concern him coming closer? the floating death ball. He let out a croak in alarm.
