[blockquote]A New Hope for Lego Star Wars
This time LucasArts has the force on its side.
    by Douglass C. Perry
February 3, 2006 - Lego Star Wars, which captured the hearts of thousands of gamers on consoles and made the action game a Greatest Hit on PS2 and a Platinum Hit on Xbox, has been a boon for Traveller's Tales.

The Cheshire, England-based team is at work with the successor to Eidos' family hit, only this time LucasArts is the publisher, and the game is based on Star Wars Episodes IV, V, and VI, IGN learned today. Several trade magazines soon to be on newsstands contain the breaking news and a recent story on TheForce.net confirms it.

A two-page Episode IV poster featuring Lego characters has been distributed to select Star Wars fans. (Images showing the new game were pulled from the site soon after they were published yesterday.) When telephoned, LucasArts would not officially confirm or deny the new game.

Eidos distributed the original Lego Star Wars and made out like a bandit on LucasArts' misjudgment when LucasArts declined to publish it. Eidos is now working with the same Traveller's Tales team to develop a similar-style Lego Bionicle game. When contacted today, Eidos was unable to confirm the title. But IGN learned from outside sources that the Bionicle and Lego Star Wars games will be announced within weeks. Expect to see both titles on current-generation consoles.

Traveller's Tales merged with developer Giant, and is part of the new publishing entity, TT Games. The developer also worked on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, and PSP versions of Formula 1 and World Rally Championship.[/blockquote]

If anyone wants an unofficial LEGO STAR WARS Original Trilogy desktop wallpaper taken from that magazine scan, I've put together a 1024x768 version [link=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v194/jaepee/swlot-wallpaper1024.jpg]here[/link].

I loved Lego Star Wars and this one should be just as good. I can see so much potential from using the original three movies.

Is the same team that made the original Lego Star Wars making this one? Or is it a new team?

Same team "Travellers Tales". Well Travellers Tales and Giant Entertainment have merged to form a new company TT-Games, but it's the same people, yes.

Only original publisher Eidos is not being used this time as LucasArts decided (after LSW 1 sold 3 million copies) to publish it themselves.

    This really is great news.

Maybe they'll learn from the past criticisms and allow for a harder difficulty level (as an option, of course).

Unless there's a major SW event late 2006, I can't see it being rushed to coincide with anything*.

I Hope There is A Dual StoryLine, So You Can Play as Luke And The Good guys or Play As Vader and the Bad guys. I Also Hope you get To Drive an AT-AT or Use The Death Star (<--Yeah right like you can use the death star) Imagine Darth Vader's Body with Leia's Head
Darth Leia: Obi Wan Never Told you about your sister
Luke: I never Had A Sister!
Darth Leia: NO! I am your Sister!

They should do a Viewtiful Joe and have a Kids Mode and an Adult Mode...

... completely so that everyone can play Kids Mode and finish it in 3 minutes, then go back to Adult Mode to unlock extra characters :p

I think it should read your memory card/hard drive and give you all the prequel characters you've unlocked in the first game.

    Thank you Very Much.

Which OT Mission Are you Most Excited to be put in LEGO form?

Personally The Battle Of Yavin or Hoth.

Probably Escape from the Death Star and Rescue at Jabba's Palace, two levels not all that common in other Star Wars games (unlike Hoth!)
