When my friend and I made mine, we used a medieval dress pattern and kind of modified that. Choose one with a fitted top.

I did this costume on the spur of the moment this past November...It's definitely not perfect.
I ran across about 3 yards of this stuff for about $2.50 a yard, and used some of my scrap, thrift-store found, extra-nubby shantung silk for the sleeves.
I had intended on using real suede for the seam hatching and laces, but it looked odd. I used the Lion Brand Yarn Suede yarn instead. Much, much easier.
I also made two little bags that hang off of the sash. I couldn't bear to toss the scraps...I did get to use leather cording on that, and on the bottom of the sleeves.

Ididn't use a specific pattern, but the top's a standard bodice, fitted to the waist with princess seams. The bottom is 4 seperate pieces, angled.

When it's warmer, I'll wear it and get better pictures, along with pictures of the leather-braided headband.
The dressform makes the bottom of the skirt look incredibly odd and even-lengthed.
I'm not happy with the bottom. I ran out of fabric.

(overall shot, minus the hairpiece, but with the storage bags)

(detail of the waist sash and pintucking on the sleeves.)

Anybody need help? Let me know! This was actually pretty fun to make...Yay, Leia!!

You can't see it super well, but I didn't have my camera so this is the best I could do:
    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/JediDajuan/Star%20Wars/Hockey%20Night%202007/FFHockey31.jpg]
There are a few more here. I haven't put the x stitching on the bodice yet, started to but it didn't look right. Will probably need to spray the edges with something to make them now fray and use a lot of static guard on it still. But it's more or less done! I did the Endor Luke poncho next to me as well.

Wow! I like it--alot! Granted, it's not a closeup shot of the bottom dress details, but the ends looked good to me.
Also, yay--st. louis! I went to Wash U. I miss that city...well, except for the winter you all have been having this year...

    Go Blues!

Thanks! When I see the dress again in a couple weeks, I'll take some close-up shots of it.

Wash U is an awesome school! You're lucky to have gone there :)

I've finally gotten a start on this dress and I've found a new pattern by Kwik Sew:

3331 View A is pretty much the most accurate pattern I've seen for this dress, the top is fitted as you can see in the back of the real costume in the photos.

The sleeves can be split pretty easily into suede and the white cloth to extend to the wrists, and the skirt...very pleasing and looks relatively simple to cut into the shape.

I made this earlier in the year. I need to redo the braid and I'm lazy and keep forgetting to put the lacing on the sleeves...but other than that I'm pretty darn in love with the outfit. Which is good because after spending hours watching the Ewok scene frame by frame I was ready to kill everyone and everything XD

Where'd you get the wig (assuming that's not your real hair). I haven't been able to find much that will work.

Another strange promotional item on ebay:

    (Her dress is pink!)

But this one shows another illustration of her sandals, meaning there must be a more defined picture of those sandals somewhere in the universe. ;)

I've just found some fantastic camel coloured suede-feel material that's come in for
Winter at my local Spotlight, so I'm going to pick up some this Friday.

Finished the braids last night, but she was in bed already. I did get her to try it on with the wig (my daughter has shoulder length fair hair, so this is a real change for her).

Looking great! I really like this dress, it's probably my second favourite Leia, after the Bespin gown.

LOL!! Best Friend not Boy Friend, she's not even 13 yet (two months away!) so no boyfriends yet!

I had the Bespin outfit on, but as usual, I was behind the camera, not in front of it! LOL!

She broke the neck binding in the car on the way there! So not impressed! That's why she's got it tucked into her bra, was freaking that her underwear was showing!
