    According to the new insider, to explain why the subtitles in ROTJ had more words than the amount of syllables she actually said. It said that the Ubese tongue spans a greater range of frequencies than the human language can allow, or hear, including subaudible subfrequencies. So if she is human how can she make those sounds if humans can't make subaudible frequencies, as the human mouth is not designed for it?

    Did she have some kind of assisting dialect scrambler inside of her helmet?

    Thats stupid.

    It is entirely possible that a language can express concepts in fewer syllables then another language might.

    Edit// I'm consdering you may mean subtitles in the language she was speaking.

    In which case yeah sure whatever.

    The interesting thing is Leia had a personal handheld dialect translator in one story in Marvel, IIRC.

    They are even mentioned in other sources as well, such as the ANH novelization, and Dark Lords of the Sith;

    Electronic Translator
    a handheld device which is used to read written text or process vocal speech and provide the user with an understandable translation. (SWN, DLS)

    Ya tow
    Ya tow

    That means: I am not sure all these extra embellisments are really neccessary. ROTJ was fine the way it is, unless Ewok tossing *is* added in!

    Of course it's not necessary. You can enjoy the movie just fine without knowing that. But for the three or four people who care, it'll just make it that much more enjoyable. :)

    In KOTOR, Wookies did a lot of romf-roar-rooling for a handful of words. :p

    Actually in that game alien languages always start repeating themselves for hundreds of different conversations, :p.

    Interesting enough there is rodian in ROTJ that repeats Greedo's lines from ANH... :p.

    Maybe he's telling his friend this great joke about a Rodian and that wall ornament over there...
