ST Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) in Episode IX

Interesting idea...But I would actually rather Leia survives the saga. IMO it is a nice thought that although we lost Carrie, Leia will still live on...

 

I hope they use a combination of both of these to allow Carrie to be a focal point throughout this movie, even if she isn't present on screen.

 

I wonder if it'll be kept under wraps what they do with Leia or will it be announced early to get people used to the idea (whatever the approach is).

Even if she's in the movie briefly somehow, will they put Leia on the poster? In trailers?

 

I see her being mentioned in dialogue but not playing any role whatsoever in the marketing.

 

The title change of this thread makes me sad. I fully understand why it was done, but still.

Yep. I do think that, somehow, Leia will be integral to the plot. Her probable death will have a colossal impact on Kylo's trajectory in the film.

 

I can't help imagining what Carrie's role may have been in IX. Having the mother redeem the son would have been an interesting and deep twist had the writers chosen that approach. It would have been distinctly different from the redemption of Return of the Jedi. The potential for the redemption may have been set up in The Last Jedi when Ren could not blow up the ship containing Leia. I don't feel that Rey redeeming Ren would have the same weight.

 

True. He seemed fairly closer to his mother than his father (if not murdering her is anything to go by) - he's now lost his father, his mother and Rey. That can't be good for the soul.

 

Why, his soul is already on the lowest limit of the scale.

 

Kylo’s last scene in TLJ really hit home how alone he is now. I mean, even Snoke was a sort of father figure, and now even he’s gone.

 

I don't think his character was meant to have many alternatives anyway. I guess you can say as long as he isn't close to anybody he will not shut Rey out.

 

Leia says she thinks she's dying in the newest Poe Dameron comic book.

 

Is it set after TLJ?

I just read it and I don't recall her saying anything close to that.

 

Those panels aren't from the newest issue, which is #27, they're from issue #14, which was published last year.

 

Maybe she says, “I’m dying...to see Hamilton. “

This got to me in the newest Poe Dameron issue

 

No she doesn't outright say it but I think it might suggest it. She's says she's not 100% yet and soon she'll need to have a conversation with Poe.

 

Exactly, and they take place before TFA.

Speculation: Leia was dying TLJ... too much damage done by the exposure to vacuum. When Luke connected her through the Force, he used some of his own life Force to revive her.

But with Luke's passing, that life Force has merged with the Force at large and now Leia is dying....

Seems completely logical to me. Episode IX could show Leia’s funeral in the first act and her death would symbolize the end of the episodic saga.

She could still appear as a Force ghost through a combination of reused footage and a double (just not CG).
