I'll say this, just based on the prelims... Most everybody seemed to step up their game at 223 last night.

 

Karolina and Felice had a pretty good outing as the featured prelim.

 

Felt so bad for Felice. She really needed to win that in order to take the "next step" but fighters like Karolina are just a step above her regrettably. Put on a great fight regardless. Ditto Joanna-Rose. Rose truly showed she is legit and IMHO is one of the most improved fighters period over the past five years. She went from being a solid midcarder to a world champion who defeated Joanna twice. Just outstanding.

 

And she's still 25 years old!

 

So here's another thought of possible consequences of Conor's antics on Thursday... How does what Conor did affect UFC's TV rights negotiations? I can only help but think it impacts those negatively.

Not surprised ESPN is getting in the mix for the rights, they've been covering UFC steadily for several years now.

 

Caught up on some fights. Pretty amazing to see the much smaller Waterson take Casey down several times. Waterson's technique in the clinch was vastly superior. There are actually a lot of women in the UFC who could use the atomweight division.

That Adesanya guy looked pretty gassed in the third round once he was forced to do some wrestling. He was really wobbly from fatigue and his punches had no steam on them. Looks like a weakness was exposed. Unless he works really hard on it, a good wrestler will wear him out.

That Moraga-Reis fight was great, lots of frenetic scrambles.

 

RDA: McGregor fracas likely led to Covington fight moving from Brazil to Chicago.

 

Don't know of y'all saw this yet. Bas Ruten is a part of the promotion. Low kicks below the knee only. You can do take downs, and can strike them while they are down, but only for 5 seconds and then they'll stand you up.

 

Looks like we could be getting Ngannou vs Derrick Lewis as a fight for UFC 226

That could be one hell of a fight.

 

Kevin Lee missed weight, so he'll forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Edson Barbosa tonight.

 

This is really Edson Barbosa's first ME and five round fight?
