ST Let's talk about Luke's ROTJ lightsaber in the ST.

It looks like a sabre is screwed on top, like a secret attachment. Hmm...

There's no reason why Luke would have lost his lightsaber. It is strongly hinted that he left the Alliance/Republic after the Empire was defeated at Jakku and a treaty was signed. At that point, he appears to have withdrawn to train his new order. What type of threat could a Jedi Master have possibly faced that would separate him from his saber?

There's not need to invoke nostalgia; it just doesn't make any sense from a storytelling perspective for Luke to NOT have that saber.

 

Do we have clear canon information where we see Luke use the lightsaber (or better - green saber) for the last time? In the Shattered Empire, Part IV, is green saber in the action ... and then - during the time of the Bloodline he is supposed to be on more or less secret mission with Ben and I can't imagine him travelling without the saber. The same case is travelling in order to find some kind of Jedi lore or the First Jedi Temple and be unarmed.

 

God I hope he uses it! Otherwise where will we see a green saber in the ST??

 

yep, the last time the green saber is in canon action is Shattered Empire. In Life Debt novel Luke already left Leia for an unknown reason and in Bloodline, he is again away, this time with Ben. We have no information if with or without his green one.

 

The green saber is dead. Long live the blue saber.

Yes. That scene is going to be spectacular if all the details in the report stay true.

 

You had better believe it. I mean, is there anyone that isn't dying to see this rumor on-screen? Isn't this what we have been waiting for since 1983?

Pretty much. There's a thought Luke's lost it and he's hiding out of fear. Oh, no....Oh, no. There's a monster on that island. I picture it similar to the RO end scene as its so brutal we might think "perhaps that saber should be a different color."
He was standing on the cliff because that's a man on the edge. Kylo, the Knights, Rey, and all of us should be very afraid.

 

You know, there was that early rumor that Luke was in isolation because he feared his own power. Who is to say that isn't still an option? Perhaps he is so angry about Kylo Ren turning on him and killing his students that Luke fears being able to control his rage? That's a juicy thought there, friend.

 

Given what we now know about Khyber crystals and how they obtain their colour, and Luke's expected darkness, do you think his lightsaber will still be green?

A big surprise for the audience would be if he ignites it and it's white, much like Ahsoka's.

 

I'm not sure if Luke will even wield a lightsaber. If he's as powerful as people are suggesting he may not need one. If he does still use one I'd hope it was the one he made in RoTJ. There's no reason it should have changed colour.

 

Pretty sure you can see a green saber in the trailer. 1:10, could be blue of course, but I think she's using the green saber in that shot.

It's pretty far away, it's that shot 1:10, it's either green or blue.

 

It's blue. You don't see Luke's green saber.

 

If/when Luke lights up his saber will be a theater eruption close to that of Han/Chewie's first appearance in TFA and Yoda's first appearance in TPM

 

I would like for it to be green. I would also like for Luke to wield his original saber/Anakin's saber as well for a quick scene.

 

I'm sure that the creators of the movies know that. They could well be tempted but I have a feeling he won't take up the sword again.
