I never knew enough about the pay of others so I can't comment on anything like that, but the Agriculture Business industry is definitely male heavy and it was the same when I worked at a junior college in the Ag department as well. My boss was great so I don't have anything to comment there other than some of the discussions and comments made at staff meetings were definitely not appropriate and it was easier to ignore/act like I didn't care than to speak up about it. I'm not usually one to sit silently but the teacher acting inappropriately was the college roommate of my boss so it seemed like it would've been a losing battle anyways. The VP of the school used to teach in the Ag department so he hung around us quite a bit and I don't think he respected women based on several comments and assumptions made about me. I chose to make his comments look stupid by being more intelligent than he is and putting him in his place with words and actions. After a year he stopped making assumptions based on my gender. My professor in grad school told me if I wanted to go into Ag Sales that I needed to learn to play golf because most of the guys go golfing and that's where deals are really made. I went to a big school and we only had 2 female professors in the department.
