W.VA Lightning Bug Trivia...

    Here's something to think about when you are out enjoying your summer evenings:

    Male and female lightning bugs are easy to distinguish. The males fly around in the air and flash their lights. The females flash their lights too, but they don't fly very much. Females are usually the ones seen in the grass, on tree branches, the side of your house, ect... They are actually the ones signalling and the males are answering. Think of it like the guy who is guiding planes down onto a runway. Except in this case, it's the females guiding the males in for a landing...

    That's my useless trivia info for this summer....enjoy...

    And dont feed them to reptiles because you're out of crickets and your leopard gecko is hungry... they're poisonous
